“Absolute dissaponintment - do not believe the hype - awful”

★☆☆☆☆

written by liArnold300 on 23/02/2017

I went to the hair salon a couple of weeks ago. Was made to wait an unreasonable amount of time before my stylist showed up to wash my hair. The whole appointment he was interrupted by another member of staff, and so he kept running off to help her. Rushed my hair cut - spent all of 20mins on cutting my hair and styling, even though I was there well beyond an hour given the amount of time he spent doing other things. Complained to the salon, and absolutely no response - complete and utter waste of my money and time. Ludicrous price for a haircut given the quality and service. Can't say one positive thing about it

“Won't recommend”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Sevi17 on 24/01/2017

I have been searching long for a good hairdresser. After a long research and taking into account the positive reviews of Taylor Taylor Liberty, I booked an appointed for a haircut and blow dry with a stylist. My request was a haircut that won't shorthen much my hair legnt give it more body and suit me! I hate the haircut, it doesn't suit the shape of my face at all! At first I decided to give it the beneft of the doubt and hoped that as the haircut sets will suit me better but over a month later I dislike the cut as much as the first day, it doesnt suit me at all! The salon is beautiful and the staff are polite but when it comes to haircuts I can not recommend this salon!

“Awful after-care service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 10/10/2016

Awful after care service when I wasn't happy after a treatment. Extremely unprofessional, seems to focus on the 'hip and trendy' image that they clearly want to portray, but actually the standard of service is mediocre, and the girl I spoke to from reception was incredibly rude and arrogant. One of their salons closed down recently. I am not surprised. I certainly would not recommend to anyone.

“Worst Salon I've Ever Been To”

★☆☆☆☆

written by jiMitchell200 on 04/03/2016

In sum: Honestly, it's the worst salon I've ever been to. Taylor Taylor ruined my hair, demonstrated poor technique (highlights look more like a poor dye job - out of the box), tried to rip me off by over-charging, and management failed to respond to emails and calls. I went in to Taylor and Taylor for the first time this week. I was going in to have half a head of highlights. Upon meeting the stylist, he told me he wanted to do Ombre. I was a little confused, because I booked highlights. I kindly said, that Ombre was nice, but I really didn't like the look for myself. He responded by saying, "well, if I have to highlight to the root, I can do a T-section, while at the same time, charge you for a half a head." Keep in mind, the service I booked was, "Half a Head of Highlights," which to my knowledge and every other salon's knowledge on the planet - highlights are traditionally going to the root. I was pretty perplexed. I should have walked out of the salon at that moment, as it already had left a bad taste in my mouth - but decided to sit quietly and agree, though, I felt taken advantage of. I then explained to the stylist, that I loved my blonde color, but I wanted to go a little brighter, in some sections around the face. He said he preferred it to be more natural, I said, I preferred it to be brighter. Again, I should have read the vibes - we weren't clicking. Long story short, I left the salon with GREY hair with an orange tinge to it! If you see in the photo, my hair is a golden blonde. So, I wound up with the exact opposite, (or, I don't even know what I wound up with), but it's pretty terrible looking. Additionally, the technique of the highlights honestly look like a bad dye job, straight out of the box. I've tried to wash out as much of the toner as possible (using clarifying shampoo), but I'm left with a gross shade of pale, washed-out orange. And feeling pretty discouraged. I am very familiar with the standards of many salons in New York City, and after visiting Taylor Taylor Spitafields - I can safely say, from my experience, the salon is "pretend posh". While, I'm sure this is not representative for all staff at the salon, (following my visit, I have read that she does great color and is very kind) but with the stylist I had, it was exceptionally a poor experience. Prior to this review, I called up the salon the following day; to which I was rushed off the phone, and was told to email management. Additionally, during the brief conversation, the receptionist, stated that management was currently there, so he would have them read the email immediately. I asked if management was there, why I could not speak to them directly over the phone. He explained "that is not our policy". I have still not have had the kind courtesy of a simple reply. In the mean time, I'm having to walk around London, with terrible hair, in a state of flux; and hating your hair when you normally love it, is honestly the worst feeling. In conclusion, Taylor Taylor not only ripped me off (by charging a half a head for a t-section of highlights), but failed to listen to what I wanted (which wasn't anything unusual or particular). Additionally, the salon demonstrated exceptionally poor technique (every strand of hair goes into foil?), and to top it all off, when a customer is unsatisfied, they choose not respond in order to correct their mistakes. If that doesn't demonstrate the class of the salon, I'm not sure what else does. In conclusion, I would never in a million years, go here again, even if it was FREE. Salons in London like Windle and Moodie, Cobella, and others do a much better job - and don't have to pretend to be posh, they just do a nice job, and care about their clients.

“pretentious and unfriendly”

★☆☆☆☆

written by IsabelSweeney250 on 21/08/2014

Beautiful salon but I have never felt more uncomfortable in a salon before. To not even be greeted as you walk in or offered a drink whilst your stylist is running late is terrible customer service, especially as one member of staff was stood using a computer. Observing 3stylists while i waited, none of which were talking to their clients, just silently snipping away to oh so cool music. I felt this wasnt the place for me and left before sitting in the chair. Sure I want a good haircut and a nice environment but fot me its the staff that make me feel special and comfortable enough to trust them with a pair of scissors

“SWERVE THIS ONE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by IslaDoran on 20/06/2013

I have never experienced such atrocious customer service in my life. I went in for a consultation as I wanted to make a drastic change to my hair, was promised a call back the next day and spent the next week phoning and left 4 MESSAGES only to be given the complete runaround and never phoned back. I still haven't heard from them. I'm surprised that they have any customers left at all with the way that they treat people. If I could rate 0 stars I would. Pretentious and rude.

Totally over rated, my experience was rushed and very hot, I had it cut downstairs and was sweating even though it's winter by a stylist who thought he was too cool to talk to me, I only went because my girlfriend paid for me, I won't be going back because I wasn't special enough to get any attention, maybe you have to be a celebrity to get the proper service..

3 months since a disaterous haircut from a top stylist of Taylor Taylor and still waiting for the short layers to grow out. I have never been so disappointed by a haircut. Do not go here.

This is my second visit, I loved my first haircut and went back to the same stylist. I specifically asked for long layers and walked away with short uneven layers, which are totally unsuitable for my fine wavy hair.

The stylist managed to cover this up with their styling skills, but I am unable wear my hair curly or straightem it, without the layers sticking out and I have been left with a hair cut that I can only wear in a now very wispy pony tail. (not the best look).

I will not be going back.

written by on 27/05/2010

Yes, the salon does look great itself. But that is really the only positive thing to say about the overall experience there.
I asked for not too many in my long hair. Which left me ended up with having my hair at the end a complete straight line with one layer that was complete straight about 5 cm above. My thin hair was thinned out a lot afterwards (for whatever reason). The hairdresser recommended that it would look great when he would blow dry the hair a bit messy. But that just ended up that I didn't realise in the salon straight away that while he thinned the hair, he had left a big hole around the ear area. Which of course looks awful, while the rest of the hair only has two different length. I ended up cutting the hair myself. To just even the sides up - it does look so much better!!!
Never again.

“Having read the reviews on here I was truly excited...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 31/01/2010

Having read the reviews on here I was truly excited about trying out Taylor Taylor this weekend, however, sadly the reviews didn't match my experience.

The atmosphere was pretty hectic when I got there, too many clients vs. seats but just thought there was a bit of a back log. The chaps on reception were friendly and offered me drinks etc, so was quite happy to start with.

I left the airy upstairs which was a little full and went downstairs to an even busier environment with people having to shuffle round seats, squeeze in corners and it honestly felt like a mad house!

I then met my colourist who seemed like a nice fella. We talked about what I wanted and then he went ahead putting about 20 foils in my hair and an all over gloss.

After 20 minutes cooking off I go to be washed off in the very fab looking wash room to find that room back logged with clients standing waiting - never experienced that before at a hairdressers - and then once in the seat was told the boiler was broken and the water was cold.

Ok, the water wasn't freezing, but certainly was on the cool side!

The chap washing my hair was very friendly, kept saying sorry for the cold water.

So then, it was back in to the crazy downstairs room for my haircut. My stylist had a quick chat with me about what I wanted and then started going in to cut mode.

I was very surprised the fella who coloured my hair didn't come over to check the end result at all!

Hair was cut, slight sweeping fringe put in, and then a really lovely blow dry. My stylist did say that the boiler had broken down at least five times recently and nobody was doing to fix the cold water situation at the washing stations! Nice.

So I just kept thinking, hectic experience but my hair was looking okish and the blowdry was awesome.

Upon going upstairs to pay to my utter shock and horror the price I was told had nearly doubled! I asked why it was so expensive and was told my foils were classed as a 'full head' - OMG - full head of 20 foils. Crikey. So I had an all over gloss plus the price of a full head. I really didn't know what to do, and graciously paid walking out feeling upset and angry by this price. I debated with myself about going back, but hey, guess the British 'no complaining' kicked in and I didn't.

So, this morning washed my hair as normal and the colour is pretty much identical to what I went in with. Not the rich glossy dark brown and teased blonde bits through it.

The cut in it's normal glory is awful too - the fringe is wonky and not blended in and looks horrid.

I'm rather upset by the whole utter disappointment and experience.

It certainly wasn't a £200 experience I'd expect and the end result is really anything but great. I won't be going back, my £200 I'm sure will be better spent in other salons in London.

Wish I'd had the experience of other reviews!!

“I had been going to Taylor Taylor in London for over a...”

written by boyvisual on 08/09/2007

I had been going to Taylor Taylor in London for over a year, for both cuts and eyelash and brow treatments, and I was always happy and grateful I'd found the perfect salon. Then I had several disappointments having had my appointments deleted out of their system, only to be offered a new time... where I will have to take additional time off work. Then when I called, the staff were always so friendly on the phone, but they failed to call me back to make the new appointment. I am left to call back, few too many times, and each time I have to explain the event. They offered a discount for their error. I do not care about a discount, as it is not the hairdressers or beauticians' fault, but the managers responsibility that their scheduling system is managed properly. I do love the atmosphere and the chaos and the buzz on the weekends. I will continue to go back as long as they keep my appointments on the weekends. I will not take any more time off work and will not hesitate to go to a new salon if they continue to have scheduling problems in the future.

I have referred many friends and colleagues to go there over the past year, and some have had similar problems. I hope that Taylor Taylor can fix their scheduling problems before others take their business elsewhere. They are nice, and have great hairdressers and beauticians, but their system needs to be a bit more organized.

written by mark25 on 05/01/2007

I thought I would be leaving the salon with a great haircut that gave me style, but I left looking like a chicken. I wanted long and messy, but the stylist (a director) just started cutting it until it was short and choppy. There's nothing more annoying that a bad hair cut. She really didn't listen what I wanted, and the £39 I paid was the most ridiculous part of all. I really don't blame the Taylor Taylor salon, because maybe the other stylists really listen to the customer. So the only thing I can say is that you pick the correct stylist that will listen to you.

I left the salon with a terrible cut and colour, that were not what I asked for. The whole salon is completely disorganised and appointments run late. The management are impossible to get a hold of. My hair will take months to recover - in the meantime I'm sporting an absolutely hideous cut and colour. Taylor Taylor is not cheap either.

“I rang Taylor Taylor hairdressers in London and...”

☆☆☆☆☆

written by keys31 on 18/07/2006

I rang Taylor Taylor hairdressers in London and explained that I was very nervous about going to a new hairdresser. I was told I had been booked in with the top stylist they had, an Art Director who would cost £57.00. On the day, I asked to go blonder and have a fringe cut in. The colourist dyed my hair darker without telling me, and the stylist told me a fringe was not this season "darling" and I should have flicks. My hair cut was dreadful! My layers looked like they had just been hacked at, and one side was shorter than the other, and you could see my ear through my hair where he had thinned it out so much. I find out my top stylist had only been at the Salon for four months. I just wanted to get out and try and sort my hair out at home, but it was beyond repair. I complained to the owner the next day on the phone. He apologised, saying it must have been an off day!! He told me he would look after me and sort the haircut out. I went back two days later, but the owner was nowhere to be seen. Instead, I had been booked in with a 21 year old stylist that had been at the Salon only seven months, and I only found this out half way through the cut. I now have extremely short layers, as the other stylist tried to blend them in from the butchered effect from before, and now I have ended up with a mullet. My layers are so short on top that it will now take me a good 8 - 12 months to grow it back. I rang again and had my money returned, and I then went straight to Tommy Guns and had my hair cut and coloured by real hairdressers. It is now so mush better, but really short, and growing it is the only cure.

“I have booked with a senior stylist. When I arived I...”

☆☆☆☆☆

written by mia265 on 21/08/2005

I have booked with a senior stylist. When I arived I realized that my appointment was with a different person, but just assumed that he would also be 'senior', as I wanted to pay pay a little extra (I was having my hair cut for the special occasion). I have been growing my hair for a while and wanted to make sure there was enough length to have my hair cut in layers, some parts of it much shorter than the rest.
The booking was made 'online', and I received a reminder but was never told that my hair was going to be cut by a different stylist.
I am not happy with the haircut at all. I noticed straight away that the stylist was not very experinced, my hair (all of it) was cut far too short. I found out that the stylist just started working for Taylor Taylor, and when I was paying, I found out that he was not a senior stylist.
This is not the worst hair cut I ever had, but it is not very good either, and it will probably take 8-12 months for my hair to grow back to the length I wanted.
Very disappointed, and will never go back or recommend this place to anyone.

“Taylor Taylor, London - I booked my appointment after...”

★★☆☆☆

written by haselbury on 23/06/2005

Taylor Taylor, London - I booked my appointment after reading the great reviews and because of the ease of booking online. However, after already being cancelled the week before, the reception failed to book me in with someone who could do full highlights and cut. I was told by the stylist that my dark roots looked good and that she could just tone them. At that point I realised I was being fed a line and said that roots at the parting look silly. It was only then that she admitted that I'd been booked for a full colour and that was why she couldn't do the roots. After telling the stylist that I wanted a shorter hair cut (my hair is curly) but I also wear it straight, she cut way too much off. It actually looks quite nice now I've styled it myself but there is no way I can wear it straight now. I am therefore disappointed and will not be recommending this salon!
