Tony Bacon & Paul Day, The Gibson Les Paul Book -

Tony Bacon & Paul Day, The Gibson Les Paul Book - An attractive resource for the Gibson fan and any admirer of the Luthier's art. As to the book's content, the clue is in the title. Whilst being a slim volume, the pages are packed with photographic studes of Les Paul's most famous contribution to the music world. Interspersed memorabilia, catalogues, brochures and photographs of guitar stars embellish the historical context of the featured instruments, many belonging to those musicians whose names are inextricably linked with the Gibson logo. Peter Green, George Harrison, Gary Moore, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page, but sadly no John McLaughlin (I suppose he is associated more with the Gibson EDS-1275 and Rex Bogue double-necks, not to mention Abe Wechter's Shakti guitars).

An extensive appendix cross references models against features such as woods, machine heads, pickups, bridge style and fret markers. Guidelines are given on everything from dating Gibson Les Pauls, serial numbers and potentiometers. So, if you like Les Pauls, Les Paul players, or just guitars generally, go and treat yourself to this book.
