This Book Is A Very Easy And Entertaining Read. I

This book is a very easy and entertaining read. I have always leaned towards fantasy fiction and this was my first time to read about magic set in 1800s. The rivalry between Strange and Norrell is both amusing and fascinating to witness. Could hardly put this book down.

This Book Was Everything I Had Hoped It Would Be A

This book was everything I had hoped it would be and more. I bought it when it first came out, but kept it on hold because it wasn't the kind of book you could carry with you on the bus or train into work. Weighing in at 800 pages it's an intimidating book.

So, on holiday I picked it up and read it - and was entranced. Mixing real history with that of the faery realm, Susanna Clarke has created a new British history. If you have had any flirtations with pagan beliefs, faery myths, magic or just an interest in history you will love this book.

I was totally besotted with it, and felt most depressed when it all ended, and I had Harry Potter sitting there waiting to be read.

Susanna Clarke, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell - T

Susanna Clarke, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell - This book is amazing. Even though it's about 800 pages long, it keeps your attention on every page. Basically, it's set in England a few hundred years ago, but there is one difference - magic is still around. There are only two practical magicians left in England however, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. Strange starts off as Norrell's pupil, but 'creative differences' soon arise. This book, full of fairies and other worlds, is an incredible read.
