For A Family Runabout The Vauxhall Vectra Is Hard

For a family runabout the Vauxhall Vectra is hard to beat. It has a radio/cd with controlls on the steering wheel, air con, electric windows. Its a good car to drive around town but is more at home on the motorway, he 2 litre engine is responsive and quicker than you think. It cruses all day at well over the legal limit and overall returns 33mpg. The handling is not the best but then its a family car not a sports car. The hatchback is brilliant for carrying things as the boot is huge and with the rear seats down can carry as much as a small van"Ford Escort" for example. The seats are a bit on the firm side but comfortable even on a long run.Id have no hesitation in reccomending one for a family car. I paid 1100 pounds for mine 15 months ago and all ive had done was two rear tyers and a set of front disc pads. and as a precaution the timing belt was replaced. Servicing is reasonable and spare parts are easy to get.

Recently Bought An S Reg Vauxhall Vectra, It Had D

Recently bought an S reg Vauxhall Vectra, it had done 165K miles and looked in perfect condition. Drove like a dream, passed its MOT with flying colours. With a S button on the Gear Selection stick, it is quick from a standstill. With many Extras, the econ button is great for City traffic but you don't want to be taking this car to the city, this car is at its best on country and motorways!

Recomended. Plenty of power, comfortable, and very silent on highway. Sometimes there is disturbing sound from doors and seats, shift ratio is too long for city traffic.

I Bought This R-reg Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 16v Cdx Au

I bought this R-reg Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 16v CDX Auto family car for £3800 in March 2004. I think it was a little pricey but spec is good and dealer replaced tyres, brake pads, gave 12 mths MOT and warranty.

Not had much trouble and is superior to my old J-reg Cavalier (we don't need our wellies on!). Ecotec power unit is willing but thirsty.

Looks good in metallic silver.

I am a BIG driver and had tried lots of other cars before settling on the Vectra. I wanted a MPV but these are really small inside compared to the larger family cars!

Despite the driver seat being a little hard the overall driving position is very good with plenty of space for the left foot (don't forget, this is an automatic).

Is VERY good at stopping safely, due to ABS + Traction Control. We had to test this recently when a lorry, changing lanes, tried to 'run us off the road'. Phew!

Rear seat passengers need to put their knees under their chins if someone BIG is in front but as we don't carry any that is not a problem.

Boot space is average (seats up) but is actually slightly smaller that the 'humble' Cavalier.

I have only driven the Vectra locally but I think the hard seats could get quite uncomfortable on longer journies (thank goodness for Cruise Control).
