“great bike easy to use and very reliable ”

★★★★☆

written by on 07/06/2012

i got this bike for E250 , when i got it it needed a new battery and indicators, also the body was damaged bad enough. but once i fixed up those things and i gave i a new custom paint job ,it was ruining nicely. it does about 65km/h max speed on a straight road with barley any wind. but here is a good tip. you sould all ways store your motor bike / scooter inside a shed or if you dont have one use a rain cover because if you dont you will have to change the seals on the gasket every few mounts depending on how much rain falls. it might not affect your bike but as im living up high there's lots of rain and plenty wind. good bike but if your buying privet be prepared that it will give you some problems to start.

hi i bought a ay50 3 years ago i got it for £50 with cracked panels no barrel or piston and a handmade exhaust so i went to buy a 70cc barrel and piston and exhaust about a year down the line i got all of the panels eventually all off different bikes its had 10 previous owners i tested it just up and the road so i taxed and moted it it cost 200 hundred for a voltage regulator including labour the exhaust was 77 the barrel and piston was 110 and the panels cost about 100 all together it needed a vacume tap before mot aswell then the head gasket kept going 2 times so after that i put 2 on it went really well until a month down the line it went again so i bought another 50cc engine 5000 miles for 110 it goes better with that in and as fast not had a problem yet and its been in the bike for three weeks now thanks for reading

hi mate there is a electronic restrictor in the voltage regulator you will have to have it remapped which could cost so i would go with a gear up kit

I bought my 2004 Suzuki Katana as project and had to spend alot on plastics. Mine is an air cooled model and as standard had no engine problems. After replacing exhaust with gianelli race exhaust, changing rollers and placing a 70cc malossi bore kit, I have been through two drive belts and recently had to replace the coil but the bike still does not run. Replacing the piston rings is my next solution. Overall the bike is fantastic for acceleration but not top speed with the air cooled Model. Any ideas were can find alot of parts for the bike

I've got a 2001 ay50 katana wr sport. 70cc bore kit. polini variator. polini 7.5 g rollers. leo vince tt exhaust. It only does 50mph! Spent a lot of money on it and it simply will not budge over 50mph only on downhill. I believe that it has got to be restricted somewhere but i dont know where.

written by RyanDeathcore on 07/09/2008

I have a Suzuki Katana 04 stock except for a Seven exhaust. Recently I have been going along at my bike's top speed along flat (40-45 mph) and all of a sudden I hear a big pop and my bike cuts out. I pull over my exhaust steams and sometimes so does my cooler. Does anyone have any suggestions what the problem is? thanks

written by on 17/08/2008

I have a 2002 Katana WRK2 which i have owned for about 8 weeks. When standard the bike has a good reliability factor but nobody wants to do 35mph everywhere. I fitted a Tecnigas exaust and 4.9 gram rollers and the top speed is now 50, but it's the way it gets there, none of my mates peds can get to 50 faster than mine.
There seems to be a general trend that the CDI is restricted within Katana's, this is true but only for the earlier models.
Also try and avoid Ditech models as they make tuning parts even harder to source out.
If anyone is trying to find parts for their katana try;

or better still

I have got a 2006 Suzuki Katana Sport and its great. I brought it De-restricted with only 46 miles on the clock however now got 400 and the bike flys for a ped. I can sit at 40 easily and it will reach 50 on a long straight or down hill and go off the clock. The acceleration is also quite quick for a scooter. Not as fast a a geared bike but still gives my mates a run for his money.
