“Not what I expected”

Started out to be a good experience, People were extremely friendly and courteous. Took my reservation and booked me for a Mercedes for my visit in Seattle. Deducted the cost of vehicle on my DEBIT card. Upon arrival in Seattle I was told I could not rent a premium car and was given a Toyota Rav4 due to not having a CREDIT card. We rented from Sixt in Ostuni, Italy via Rentalcars.com which looks like being a source of confusion in terms of reclaiming money and complaining. I paid by credit card to Rentalcars.com with Full Protection and completed full details for two drivers only to have to complete all the details again at the Sixt office in Italy. “Be Careful”

When hiring the car I had a great experience. Ilford Branch. Quick service, Polite staff and a Clean car which gave me no problems. My main issue was 1 and a half months after my hire date. I was emailed by the damage team to let me know that the complete satnav unit was missing in my car. Firstly the car I hired came with a built in unit so that could not have been true. “Check Charges After Rental”

I hired from Sixt at Bergen Airport, Norway in October 2013, having booked via ebookers in the UK. My only problem was that they charged me after I got home for additional mileage which was already included in the basic rental. I emailed them and they responded immediately and agreed to refund me, apologising for a "system error". I was expecting a bill for toll charges but knew the amount they charged was too high so I asked for a detailed bill. Just make sure you only pay for what you should!… Read Full Review

“A lot of damages”

Rented a luxury car for our wedding. The car was very nice inside, but had a lot of damages outside. One tire also leaked air when we got the car. The service at the counter was low. The clerk was more interested in making us pay for extras than being polite. It was also a fairly long waiting time. “Not happy so will not be using SIXT again”

I hired a car in October. No problems with car. But when we returned the car the guy noticed a scratch on the wheel hubcap. The scratch was small and the guy said it was superficial and may or may not incur a charge. I took a photo, signed the digital check in form and asked for a copy to be emailed to me. “Petrol gauge issues”

I hired a Corsa with a full tank of petrol. 24 hours later i had travelled 52 miles and put £11.89 of unleaded petrol in until the nozzle clicked off. The gauge needle did not move back to display full. The staff initially said i would be charged but after i protested the kindly agreed to book the car back in as "full". Previously I have found Sixt to be great to hire with on holiday, in UK, Spain, and Germany. This year I found when reserving online there was no option to choose Diesel engine as in previous years, and on enquiry was told to put the request in the notes on the reservation (which I prepaid) and to email my request (which I did). We chose Sixt because they were the only rental car company that provided detailed instructions on their website where to return the car in Paris, France. After parking the car where indicated and eventually finding our way to the rental office in the Gare Montparnasse, we were told that we did not return the car to the correct location. Oh well. I did not get the size of van that I asked for and that gave me some problems on the day...some notice that it would not be available would have been useful as I was in a position of having to take the van I was offered 2. “I have used Sixt Car Rental on several occasions...”

I have used Sixt Car Rental on several occasions through Economy Car Rentals. The last rental went relatively smoothly. We have had occasions when several things in the car did not work. Most notably was our Christmas 2009 rental when the windshield wiper fluid dispenser did not work due to a cut in the line. That proved a tremendous hassle as we had to stop several time to refill delaying us to our next destination by hours. I use Sixt regularly for business trips and they're always extremely helpful.
The local centre is always on hand at short notice and I honestly can't fault their services.
The only issue I have is their inability to send me an invoice, which causes me great problems with business expenses.

Car was relatively new, however customer service was appauling and the fuel charge was not made known to us. They swiped my credit card for security for the insurance excess, but did not inform me that they would also be using my credit card for the payment of the pre-paid fuel. Was not aware of the pre-paid fuel charge until I returned home from holidays and reviewed my credit card transactions.
