On time departure from Hong Kong to Taipei then transfer from Taipei to Brisbane. Airport is huge and have to walk for about 8 minutes long to get to my departure gate from transfer area.
Found the cabin crew to be OK, especially the older steward guy. Always smiling and seems to like to please everyone.
Although I had experienced being yelled in chinese (or taiwanese) by one flight attendant when I opened the toilet. While inside the toilet, the fastened your seat belt sign lit on and here comes the FA knocking at the door and yelling in chinese and I said I don't understand you and she said sorry and told me to sit down.
Food is served according to taiwan taste - you'll enjoy it if you like to adventure on foods. Breakfast was shredded pork in rice bun(?) it looked like a burger rice with pork fillings. Pineapple shortbread and orange juice. For lunch - rice with fillings in a leaf with slugs looking food. I am of asian background too but never had those foods, but I understand that different country have different ways of cooking so I just have to respect on their food service.
Flight on the way to Brisbane was comfortable because the plane was only half full so everyone enjoyed having extra seat to use for sleeping.
I'd use China Airlines again if I travel solo and short distance. Travelling as family and long haul I recommend using a different airline.

All in all, it was fine for me, but not for my companion. The only big problems were aircraft-related. We had a stroke of good luck on the return flight: the Airbus was unavailable, so we had to "settle" for a Boeing 747. The flight home was quite comfortable, even though the plane was full and I was wedged into a middle seat.
We would fly China Air again.
