“Manchester/Mombasa”

My wife and I have now had 6 bookings with Turkish Airlines. None have gone without incident. *2017/11 All passengers luggage was deliberately left in Istanbul so that they could fill the hold with cargo. Moi Airport was not warned, so we took 3 hours to get out. Luggage was delivered 36 hours later. *2018/02 Our Pre selected seats were changed without our knowledge. Then, even after we had selected other seats and checked in online, we arrived in Istanbul to find that one of us had the selected seat and the other had been put on standby. *2018/07 They rescheduled the booking by 1 whole day. *2018/11 3 hours late, so missed the connection to Manchester and had to stay in Istanbul overnight. Had to buy Visas and queue at the transfer desk for hours.Unhelpful staff. *2019/02 2 hours late, so again missed the connection to Manchester and had to stay in Istanbul again. Had to queue at the transfer desk for hours. *2019/06 Already Rescheduled, leaving us with a 7 hour wait in Istanbul new airport where there are no VIP lounges accessible (only for Business and Miles and Smiles Elite and above) and no comfortable chairs in the new airport. Indeed, none at all in the main concourse and only cheap plastic ones at the gates (when you eventually find the gate to go to) Not one of 6 of our bookings went without some sort of hitch. All had many small schedule changes which involved phoning them to accept the changes. The flights themselves however are OK, but breakfasts disappointing. Every airline can have off days, but it seems that every day is an off day for Turkish Airlines, at least if you travel Manchester to Mombasa. That is enough of Turkish Airlines for us.

“Turkish Air, Toronto - Istanbul - Toronto”

Flight was late taking off, service was slow, Food wasn't that great. Specially the breakfast omelet. Three hours delay coming back from Istanbul to Toronto. Missed my conection through Toronto. Had to stay over night, lost a day at work. Turkish Air didn't accept any responsibility since my connection from Toronto was on a diffeent itinerary. Their dealy cost me additional $950. I will ever again travel with them.

“Poor customer service.”

Our party of six recently embarked on a trip to Turkey and for this we chose to travel with Turkish national airline even though we heard lots of horror stories about this airline we thought we would decide for ourselves. We called their booking office to book our flight and the person who dealt with us had Very poor English. It was so bad we could hardly understand what was he saying it took us ages to communicate with him and was a very frustrating experience for all parties. We planned to go from 5th to10th October and that is what we told him but due to his poor understanding of basic English he didn't understand correctly and booked our tickets from 6th to 10th October. We complained about this horrible mistake and we were told that they will listen to the conversation and let us know the outcome. With not long to go before we were due to travel out this was nail biting and so we kept on calling them to find out what was going on but they sent us an email after a week telling us it was me not the adviser who made the mistake. Two of our friends who had taken time of work accordingly then lost a whole day from their holiday. We were very disappointed as now we had only three days to enjoy our trip instead of four days. Their customer service is unprofessional as most of their advisers don't have good English which is very frustrating for customers and above all things we were duped into believing it was our fault. We event offered to hear the recording so we could hear for ourselves want had happened during the conversation with the staff member. I would NOT recommend this airline to ANYONE. They are looking out for number one themselves and the old custom of the customer is always right doesn't apply here even if you are indeed in the right. Poorest customer service I have ever come across in my entire life.

“always delay and flight cancelation”

be ready for the delay. they are concelling some flights to collect passengers in one flight. Flight from-to Sabiha gökçen was good but in last 3 months same issues in sabiha gökçen airport too.

“a lot of hype istanbul is not a hub airport”

A lot of exciting pr and hype but no customer service or diligence ... no follow through, arrogant staff. A wild air line whose growth cannot be supported by the current airport in istanbul ... the airport is too crowded and dangeroud. Airport (touted to be the world's largest) cannot be built soon enough.

“Poor Customer Service”

Agent put someone else tag on my luggage so I arrived in Tel Aviv but my luggage didn't. They don't answer the phone I filed a complaint and they messed up again and sent the wrong luggage which I had to file another claim and on day 5 I finally received my damaged luggage. I was with a group and could not take part in some of the excursions I paid for because I didn't' have the proper attire. They have no real contact information either. I have been trying to get reimbursed for my expenses but they keep emailing me asking for more receipts and information instead of giving me my money. Being without clothing and toiletries for 5 days is not a good feeling.

“Clocks on airport departure boards said different...”

Clocks on airport departure boards said different times.The clocks were due to change over night but in an airport you expect all clocks to say the same time to avoid confusion. Allow at least 2 hours to get through passport control and security checks when flying from Istanbul. We got to Gatwick but our luggage didn't. Don't know when we will get it as they didn't manage to get any ones luggage on board. Food was ok

“Lost baggage? We'll take our time.”

3 of us flew from LHR to SOF via IST on 15/02/14 flights 1980/1029. Flight service was good but the bags didn't arrive at IST. It was a skiing holiday so we needed suitable clothes. We didn't get our bags until Monday night (48 hours into our holiday, a day earlier than those delivered by Turkish Airlines), collected by our guest house owner in Bansko, so we wore the sames clothes that we traveled in for 3 whole days and couldn't enjoy our holiday. On the return flight we asked for an upgrade as compensation but were referred from one person to another at both airports SOF/IST and the last person in customer care shouted that because he wasn't Barrack Obama he couldn't do this for us. In one conversation on the phone an internet form was mentioned to get some compensation but this I have not found. The feed back forms on their website don't work. There were 13 passengers who had their holiday spoiled on our flight including us. I understand that the weather is beyond anyone's control, but why were you unable to deliver bags until Tuesday so our guest house owner had to collect them in person on Monday? This really lets the otherwise very good service down completely as they couldn't care less. Therefore I will consider Turkish Airlines along with Monarch as the worst airlines to fly with.

Horrible airline I will never fly Turkish Airline ever again in life. The flight attendants have terrible attitudes and the layover in Turkey was horrible as well.

“really bad customer service!!!!!”

hi, my parents traveled on nov 15 2013 from ohare to Istanbul and when we checked in our bags everything was ok my parents were old and the had a carry on and I asked the attendant if we can put the carry on with the other baggage and the supervisor said no you have to pay 170 us dollars which did not make sense at all! the supervisor was really rued and was very unprofessional! what ticked me off the most is that a group of family was traveling with us on the same flight and when they checked in the bags they also checked in the carry on at no charge! when I confronted the supervisor about it she pretended she did not know what we were talking about and she denied it also she had the nerves to tell me that if u do not like how we operate do not fly with us! for a supervisor she needs to work on her attitude and show respect to customers but I thank god that this happened and the lost a frequent travelers customers never I will fly Turkish airline because of their customer service!

“Not what I expected from a business class”

After reading some reviews in Airlinesquality.com, Travelfirst.com, and Lonelyplanet.com, I have booked a ticket from paris to Ho Chi Minh, with stopover in Istanbul. Old B737 (dirty old black leather seats) to Istanbul. Service OK, but no thrill. Terrible Ataturk Airport, with long waiting queue at transit control. Overcrowded CIP lounge: it took me not less that 10 minutes to get to the washroom, due to queuing... and this was in the lounge dedicated to exclusive flighers! Flight to Ho Chi Minh in an ageing A340 with the an outdated cabin both in Y and C class. Food OK. Service aboard efficient, with friendly stewards. But seats DO NOT recline 180° as ideally described in Travelfirst.com and Airlinesquality.com. And I ws expecting B777 instead for a long haul. So, never again! Next time I fly to Asia or US, I make it with Emirates: better value... and NEW planes.

“DON'T TAKE THAT AIRLINE THEY LACK IN CUSTOMER SERVICE”

We were leaving from Istanbul and were dealing from Istanbul and for some reason the atendant at the counter was not in a great mood I guess and she delayed in giving us boarding passes and seats to the point where we almost missed our flight. In fairness the supervisor had to be called and she even talked to the attendant at the counter but to no avail. I guess they do what they want with their customers. We almost lost our flight due to this awful behavior! If you want good service fly any other airline but this one I can assure you better service!

“Food Poisioning”

Yesterday I flew from Addis Ababa to Athens via Istanbul. It was the 2:10 a.m. flight out of Addis Ababa. About an hour and a half into the flight we were all served our trays. Listed on the evening's menu was an egg burek. I happen to like burek as I have eaten it in the Middle East and Bosnia i Herzegovina many times before. I must admit that I should have taken a more cautionary approach to this meal because the burek seemed undercooked, quite wet and only partially heated. Within about 9 hours of the original meal time, my stomach started growling, I had lost my appetite, and I was belching with smells reminiscent of the meal the night before. Also while in Athens I have not eaten anything, only attempted to take liquids. On the way to my hotel in the Pagrati district of Athens my state of affairs worsen. From 5 p.m. on, I have been running to the toilet frequently, and all of my liquids seem to be evacuating my body. It is now 6:06 a.m. the following morning, Athens time. Having had my fifth bout of diarrhea, I am up composing this complaint email. At this point I am concerned about the welfare of other passengers on this flight and whether or not Turkish Airlines can find ways to institutionally remedy this for future travelers on its flights. I am sure there was a food handling error that could be corrected. Oddly, enough Turkish Airlines doesn't seem to have an online comment mechanism for providing this kind of urgently needed feedback.

“Disrespectfully yours”

Flew from Amsterdam to Incheon. Via Turkey yes, but what a major mistake. It takes 30% more time, ataturk airport is horrible with exclusive outlets and no soul, Istanbul doesn't appeal to me at all, you have to go twice through security even to enter the airport, immigration is dreadful and takes ages, immigration officers look like they didn't have any degrees in order to perform their jobs and just whistle and toss your passport at you .. but to cut to the chase. Some passengers lost their baggage, but getting your case back damaged beyond repair is just as bad. The ground crew was accountable and I did file a damage report as they require. Still I never received a reimbursement or any apologies. They are never going to reply unless you threaten with a lawyer. The legs Amsterdam-Istanbul adn back were a disgrace. Too cramped, too hot, bad food, ignorant crew, a constantly disturbing pilot.. It felt like frickin Sahara desert on board, this was a crime!! But why?? Is this really necessary? Also I don't know what everyone is talking about because there is 0 leg room. Ryan Air flight are luxury in comparison. The other passengers took way more baggage with them than allowed and stored it in my compartment. So I just had to keep my bag between my legs the entire flight. Other passengers even had to nerve to look into my storage bin to look if there was any room left for their excessive baggage. The crew didn't care about anything, the passengers all stood up directly after landing while the arrival terminal was still 10 min away, but didn't say anything. What about safety? Don't use double standards then!! If you don't care about safety, don't bother me with those annoying safety announcements you stupid hypocrites! Cabin crew kept walking back and forth down the narrow passage way aimlessly! Don't believe all the lies that TA serves good food, it was horrendous. Little bits of inedible food with an overkill of useless sauce, pepper, olive oil, butter, garlic..to eat with what?? I prefer a sandwich or something else please?? I can't eat butter, pepper, sauce ..it simply isn't nutritious!! I will never fly with them again.. Disrespectfully yours! Disgracefully yours!

“Always problematic, frequent cancelling of flights”

Three times out of the five times I've flown with Turkish air, my flight has been canceled and I was not properly informed ahead of time, or was I properly reimbursed for my troubles after the fact. Their planes are cramped, dated, and their staff, at least in their Istanbul airport, is incompetent. While their flights are cheap, beware. You don't want to get stuck between transfers waiting for them to finally put you on another plane. I do not recommend flying turkish.

“Never try again”

From Dublin to Istanbul to Tehran and return. Very bad experience especially return trip. We traveled with an infant and expected to get more usual attention for our baby but it was disappointing. From Tehran to Istanbul they didn't give us a more seat while there was many seats free even when we asked the crew ignored. So for the second flight (Istanbul to Dublin) I asked the Turkish guy who was issuing the boarding card for extra seats if it is available. He not only didn't help us for seat also he gave us the last seats by the toilets. Our baby tortured any time some one used the toilets. Every minuts the baby got shock by noise and we too. It was night trip and we really got sick of that situation. In addition we found out our perfumes and some other stuff was missing from our bags. Never travel with Turkish Airways again. The date and flight number is available if needed

“TURKISH AIRLINES,COLD FOOD, DIRTY, STINKING TOILETS”

08.11.12. Took flight to London via Istanbull for 10 days. Flight left late on all four legs of the journey. Aircraft was not clean, dirty seats. The toilets were clean but they stank of urine. Sinks blocked. Early in flight no tissues or napkins to dry hands. Food was the worst, it was stone cold. Dinner at 23 hours and breakfast at 0300 hours. Sent it back on last flight as egg was stone cold and it was replaced with even worse breakfast with most of the egg runny. Flight attendant seemed astonished at my complaint. Bread rolls, when served were like bricks. Why no Duty Free service on the flight? Would only fly Turkish Airlines if no other available at reasonable flight and how they got Best Airline in Europe is astonishing.

“Poor and unpleasant service”

I’m pretty amazed that this airlines has won a SkyTrax’s 4 Star Airline award! I flew with Turkish Airlines beginning of this month from London Gatwick to Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania via Istanbul in Economy Class. The flight from Gatwick to Istanbul was small & full and the seating & aircraft condition was fair as expected. On the other end I was pretty appalled with the cabin crew’s services and with the inflight food & beverages. Apart from one none of the crew had a smile on them or welcoming words and food was just dished out like handing out to beggars. The food was total shambles as my special meals which we had booked never arrived, instead I being Hindu was given Beef which is against my religion but had I not asked what it was I would have not known. When I told them this not what I had ordered I was told sorry this is all we have and after complaining further they brought me fish! The aircraft carrier from Istanbul to Dar was lot newer and better but the uncomfortably hot. Once again the cabin crew service was appalling, disjointed & unprofessional. This time managed to get a special meal but it was tasteless, rice uncooked & awful. On the return flights there was not much difference as far as the cabin crew service or food was concerned other than for some passengers their seats were double-booked and the crew dealt with the passengers concerned totally unprofessionally.

“No customer care, rude and arrogant”

I have taken eight flights this year with Turish Airlines TIP to SOF and will not take another. Staff are surly, one I flight asked for water with my meal, the reqest was treated with a glance , the water never arrived Baggage has gone missing, I was told that "it happens all the time, handlers in IST don't care" And I cannot claim missing air miles, despite taking the flight and having sent ticket copies I am told the flight does mot exist My mails to 'customer services' have gone unanswered. How this carrier won an award is just beyond me As an afterthought even by airline standards IST is very expensive.
