When You See This Film For The First Time It Is Te

When you see this film for the first time it is tense and there are genuinely scary scenes, with suspense playing a massive part.

If you liked, the sixth sense and signs then this one will tick all the boxes. Well worth buying.

The Village Deserves 10 Out 10, But Due To The Fac

The Village deserves 10 out 10, but due to the fact that it is marketed as a horror movie, I just cannot do so. The acting in this film is Superb; the story is excellently portrayed and the scenery is simply beautiful. This film lacks in scares what it gains in suspense. The twists are well thought out, if not a little predictable. The end is perfect, however could be described as a little unimaginitive compared to the rest of the film. The Soundtrack by James Dallas Howard is especially fantastic to listen to and even the most critical viewers cannot deny Bryce Dallas Howard is the high point and gives a staggering performance as the blind girl. If you are looking to watch a thrilling horror movie in M. Night Shyamalan's The Village, you will not succeed, but if you just want to watch suspense-filled, excellently weaved drama; The Village is 100% successful.

The Beginning Of The Village Looked Promising, It

The beginning of The Village looked promising, it could be a half-decent, suspense style horror film. Unfortunately like other reviewers I was sadly disappointed.

There was no tension after the first fifteen minutes, in fact nothing happened. Sometimes that can be a great advantage to a film, especially a horror film, very minimalistic. Unfortunately, the Village failed to put in vital aspects of the film.

The Village - When I First Heard About This Movie

The Village - When I first heard about this movie and saw the trailer I thought it was gonna be really scary and freaky but I was sadly mistaken. They just wasted it near the end when they said that there weren't really any monsters. There was poor acting, it was too long and it was really, extremely boring!

Disappointment to all horror fans and it is not recommended by my standards.

The Village - After Giving Us Classics Like Sixth

The Village - After giving us classics like Sixth Sense and Signs, I'm really not sure where this came from! Boring, too long and didn't keep my interest at all!!

The Village Was Set In The 1800's. Basically The S

The Village was set in the 1800's. Basically the story is about people who are in a village surrounded by a forest which are home to "scary" monsters (note the sarcasm).

When it ended, I didn't even know it was the end, it just stopped with Ivy saying some cheesy line like, "I've made it."

Basically, I wouldn't advise other people to go and see it.

Umm did you notice the vehicle the ranger was driving? They didn't have vehicles in the 1800's so in fact the story did not take place in the 1800's. The point was they were trying to seclude themselves from the rest of the world because it is such a heinous place. You are just too shallow for movies like this. Sorry but it's the truth.

The Village Is Set In 1897 Within A Close-knit Com

The Village is set in 1897 within a close-knit community that is plagued by a mythical race of creatures that roam the surrounding woods, the villagers are not allowed to cross the boundaries into the woods, they are not allowed the colour red as this enrages the creatures, they are totally self-sufficient from the outside world, and as long as the rules are not broken they live peacefully. (Off the strength of this plot and Shyalaman's previous credits, it's not hard to see why this promised to deliver).

10 minutes into the film all the characters were set and the creatures were starting to wreak havoc, killing livestock and entering the village, if you missed the actual plot part, tough, try and keep up, anyway, the hero of the day (Phoenix) suggests that they need help from the towns and offers to travel through the woods to get help, this is greeted by the elders as brave but not permitted and the next 20 minutes is spent discovering why the creatures are attacking them and who has broken the rules, it turns out that a young handicapped man has been going into the woods to draw pictures on the rocks.

While all the elders are running around like headless chickens and deciding what to do, there appears to be a 10 minute gap where Phoenix and a young blind girl (Dallas Howard) develop a sudden love for each other, and when Phoenix gets stabbed by the handicapped man (because he's in love with the blind girl) they decide to send the girl along with 2 strong men to travel to the towns to get medical supplies.

The 2 men last about 2 minutes in the woods and very bravely run away leaving the blind girl to fend for herself against the creatures (The theory is that because the creatures didn't attack the handicapped man when he entered the woods then maybe they'd take pity on the blind girl and leave her alone).

Some eerie music, chases, etc... take place and although I'm not going to spoil the end needless to say that due to the lack of character development you really don't care if Phoenix or the blind girl gets killed, the fact that I can't remember the characters' names suggests I didn't care enough about them to be bothered to remember.

My summary would be that off the trailer I believed that Shyalaman could still scare me as he did in Sixth Sense; however, the best bits are the trailer and everything else including the ending which is really disappointing could have and maybe should have been left on the cutting room floor.

Thank you for seeing this film. I will not. Sham a lam a ding dong, as I refer to him, "jumped the shark" with his movie "Signs". That film was ridiculous, and yet it made so much money. You are going to tell me that an alien race that has mastered space flight and time travel, didn't realize that our planet was 70% water, which they die if exposed to? Right. Sham, you are done. Stick a fork in him...
