Jorvik Viking Centre in York is a reconstruction of actual Viking-Age streets, and you can see what life was really like over 1000 years ago. Starting with a spaceship type simulator to give a travel back in time effect, you then tour through the viking village in a tracked car. The village is full of authentic smells and street noises. You can see how the vikings lived, worked, and the things they made and had to eat. You can even see a Viking man on the loo which is quite funny! Moving on from the viking village is a small museum showing skeletons and various things like tools, coins and clothes that have been excavated. The shops are filled with viking toys for the boys, and even swords for the big boys! Enjoyable and interesting for all ages.
