Mikargy Hotel

This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in! Plug sockets and wires hanging off the wall. Smoke alarms with no batteries, pools and rooms were dirty. Breakfast was disgusting. When reported to the rep, the owners of the hotel were rude and treated us like peasants. We started to get warm colas and water round the pool (40 degree heat) got checked out of our room early and the night we were leaving, the man who worked at the hotel was very rude to us, what he said is not even repeatable.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Not even to my worst enemy... actually maybe I would!

We were sworn at in both English and Greek by the Mikargy Hotel staff, as we had made our concerns about the cleanliness of our room to our rep, and they obviously didnt like this. They told us to leave the hotel following our complaint, and closed ranks and even the cleaners were rude to us in the end (they clearly didnt like having to actually change our bed sheets after leaving them for 5 days!) We were also shouted and and called stupid for drinking a bottle of water at the pool that we (shock horror) did not buy from the pool bar!! Our rep sorted out them throwing us out - they could not as they had not given us a warning or in fact they did not have any actual reason to do so!

All in all, would never recommend this hotel ever, they actually made us feel intimidated and we dreaded going back to the hotel at the end of each day, we had to get the rep involved on the 5th day of our holiday, and this wasted at least 3 hrs, which was a real pain, reps were really good though, no complaints there!

Breakfast consisted of a bread roll and cup of tea/coffee, was not worth getting up for, we only did it once and did not go back for more!

Even if you win a holiday to this hotel, I would definitely say, its NOT worth it!

I arrived in Kos not knowing where I was staying, but after a 15 minute transfer arrived at the Mikargy hotel at 05:00.

First impressions were good, still being very early in the morning the night manager was friendly and checked us in very quickly.

The hotel could do with a bit of modernising but at least it was clean, the rooms are basic but comfortable, there are no double beds but they are larger than a single, and can be pushed together if wished.

Because the water is solar heated the shower was at best luke warm, it was quite powerful but not very accurate, most of the water went all over the toilet, soaking the paper.

There is a telephone and radio in the room but they didn't work.

The balconies overlook the main road and are small, enough room for two chairs and a small table, There is no air conditioning but fans can be rented from the hotel.

All in all if you want a cheap, clean, friendly place to stay then stay at the mikargy.

If you're not expecting much then the Mikargy Hotel is fine!

The lady who owns and runs the place is fairly pleasant and helpful once you get used to her. I locked myself out of my suitcase and she helped me break into it!

There is no air conditioning (in most places in the town) so fans have to be rented. You can rent from most of the supermarkets or the hotel. We rented from the hotel but it didn't rotate from side to side and some times it rattled so no good if you want a decent night's sleep! It cost 3euros a night to rent a fan from the hotel.

Breakfast-described as continental was in fact 2 hard bread rolls, a slice of cheese and a slice of ham! the same every day! recommend breakfast is avoided like the plague!

The rooms are basic, you'll find a phone and a radio which don't work, and we were informed that they haven't worked for 15 years! The water is solar heated so early morning showers are cool and if it's a cloudy day then all showers are cool or cold. The toilet is practically in the shower so our toilet paper often got a wash as well. No bath. No soap or toiletries provided. Towels - one big and a hand towel per person, only changed once a week so we washed ours ourselves and left them out on the balcony to dry. We also washed our sheets!

The bar didn't serve red wine for some reason.

The swimming pool was clean and fun with free lilos available. It tended to get crowded around midday till it closed at 6pm so if you want a sun lounger in a good spot then get down there early.
