Our visit to the Ocean Beach as a whole wasn't bad. The pools where small, crowded but warm and the old, heavy sun bed where free and the rooms where clean and tidy. The pool area was unsafe and myself and others and a few occasions slipped and fell over! On a night the hotel was rowdy and noisy until about 1 o'clock. Outside the hotel is a busy motorway. The bars and restaurants nearby where cheap and lovely. If you're self-catering the Sun Inn and the Wigan Pier are beautiful places to eat. In some bars however a round of drinks is more expensive than a meal for 4. The beach of Playa Del Duque is well worth visiting because of the golden sands and the blue crystal clear waters. It's about a 20 minute walk away and costs about 3 euros in a taxi. There are other beaches close by but the sand is black and the sea is dirty. Over the road is the water park that for a family of 4 costs about 25 euros and has a free dolphin show.

We thought the Ocean Beach Apartments was absolutely spectacular. The rooms were delightful and very clean, although there was a slight smell of fish coming from the toilet area. We did get our belongings stolen 3 times whilst staying in the room; however this made me want to stay even longer as I could catch the thieves in my spy mission. The pool was splendid. The pool bar was a little bit on the expensive side. I did get burnt very badly and spent 2 days in hospital. the weather was delightful, except for the 3 days of continuous rain.

As an overall view the Ocean Beach is a well kept, tidy building. The pool area is exceptional and while the rooms show some signs of wear and tear they are on the whole very good. Rooms and balcony's are a very generous size and the maid service was good. I stayed on one of the upper floors which offered a good view and no unwanted visitors, friends of mine however stayed on the lower floor and experienced a number of cockroaches and a very shaded balcony with a view of a very close white wall.
The bar and poolside staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. The receptionists on the other hand were very short, snappy, uninterested and liked to ignore you and talk very loud Spanish to each other in your face. And as for the security staff, beware of these they are rude, jumped-up bullying liars and very nearly spoiled our holiday, not letting people they knew to be guests in or even giving them the chance to prove they were staying there (copy's of all passport photo's are held on reception). Then lying about it in the morning to the rep and after that making it their personal mission to hound our party whenever possible. And no we weren't a bunch of yobs - one couple in there 40's, three couple's in there mid to late twenty's and two young teenage boys (with their parents).
So apart from this one area, and the sky high prices at the pool bar/ snack bar (bit of advice go to a local shop and buy your own!), this was a generally good hotel - shame about the notoriously cloudy Tenerife weather

Without preduice !
While staying at the Ocean Beach Apartements with my son and while asleep we had money, camers and other itams stolen from our lounge, and the ONLY way in here was from our main door as the rear could not be entered bt as it was over 30 feet high with a very narrow wall.
On evenings the night staff always hung around in pairs, and knew all the rooms. We were not the only ones and the management has no interest at all. On reporting to police they held up a sign to direct us to take a form and sign it as a repoty, saying, on phoning we were answered by a theft line !!!!! take care in this part of othe island especiall OCEAN BEACH and OCEAN PARK in Plalya de las americas.

Although Ocean Beach is the sister hotel to Ocean Park, it is totally unfair to tar them both with the same brush. Ocean Beach is a hotel, Ocean Park are privately owned apartments (many residential) and has its own management committee. The staff from Ocean Beach have no access to the apartments at Ocean Park. The apartments at Ocean Park are secure, clean and of a high quality. Very unfair review.

I think you have missed my point.
<br>Your first reveiew suggested, and it was only a suggestion, that staff of the hotel had access to your room and abused their position to steal some of your possions. You then went on to suggest the same staff had access to Ocean Park. I was merely pointing out that they do not. If they stole goods from Apartments at Ocean Park, they would have to break in.

I have to say that in any apartment/hotel block, valuables and cash should be locked in a safe (which you can program with your own security code). Myself and my family have stayed at Ocean Beach 5+ times and found the staff pleasant enough to deal with, and have never had any security worries on this resort (unlike the infamous Veronica's strip.) To be honest, keepiing your valuables safe on holiday is simply common sense whether you are in or out of the apartment at the time. If you do this then you will have NO worries.

Sorry I do not agree at all. On the same night as our theft, access and theft was made into ocean park, in spite of the private ownership, I don’t thing thieves, or insiders really say, oh...we will not rob ocean park...they are secure and privately owned....open you eyes, have a look at the type of people around this downtrodden and run down area....it speaks for itself....stay clear of both of these blocks if you want to Bring home everything you brought with you....as you find NO help whatsoever from the inefficient staff.

Hi
I would like to update the comment on the price of admission to the water park. I visited on 20/2/06 we are a family of four, the cost of entry at the gate was 85 euros, then 7 euros for two lockers and then 3.50 euros per/seat.
