I received the Panasonic SC-HT520 Home Theatre system for Christmas 2006. The unit was purchased 11/28/2006. With in 11 months the unit stopped working. I called Panasonic and found the local Authorized service center is 45 min away from my house. I am a single mom and work 2 jobs, the first Sat I had off to bring the unit to the repair center was 12/08/2006. Ten days after the receipt expired.
It is now 03/21/2008. Four months since I dropped off my Home Theatre system and it still sits at the authorized service center, who refuses to fix the unit due to cost. The center will not give Panasonic a detailed estimate of repair cost.
I have called Panasonic many times. Sometimes I have had to call through 5 times in 1 day just to speak with the Supervisor handling my case. Today I spoke with Leo. He would not give me his last name nor would he let me speak to his supervisor or manager. Leo explained Panasonic can not help me. The unit is out of warranty and they are still waiting for the detailed estimate of repair. Panasonic did offer me a 20% off discount to a purchase of a new unit. Which just didn't seem fair considering.
My review and suggestion to all consumers considering a purchase of a Panasonic unit of any kind should not consider Panasonic. Please learn from my terrible experience.

Don't be fooled as I was!
I specifically bought the Panasonic SC-HT520 model because it was billed as an "all region" player and I have a collection of region 1 dvds, many of which are just not available in other formats.
It turns out that what "all region" means is that it will play dvds marked "ALL" instead of with a specific region. Thus my region 1 collection remains unplayable. Worse, there appears to be no crack for this particular model, meaning I am lumbered with a useless pile of junk.
I therefore rate this player 0 in all categories and urge you to boycott this and all other region restricted players until this stupidity is overthrown

Hmmm, yes, but why do that when you can buy a region free player from any number of suppliers, including your local supermarket, for under £30?
<br>Vote with your wallet and destroy the region coding nonsense!
