The revolutionary design of the Motorola V3 took the phone world by storm - manufactured out of aircraft grade aluminium the phone is in some places impossibly thin and yet the screen is still crisp and all the features that you would expect in a modern mobile are still present.
The Motorola V3 went on to become the biggest selling phone in 2005 but how do you rate it against some of its major competitors. The sleek Nokia 6111 has just been released and is receiving high praise for its stylish design but what do you think? Why not discuss these two phones in this specially created forum.

I was very disappointed with the reliability and reception and battery life of these phones. I bought three of them for my family and they were all poor performers (looked great though).

Can't think of any good points about the Motorola V3 apart from quite cheap and slim. Although it doesn't break, has really short battery life and is just plain boring.

The Motorola V3 RAZR is a slim sleek slider with a 2" screen. There are many downsides to the phone however, including the camera which cannot video record and is only VGA. The V3 has a very small internal memory, only 3mb in fact. The phone does not have space to insert a memory card of any kind.
The battery life is a different story, it dies after around 10 seconds of talk time.
Overall, I do not recommend this phone generally because of its poor battery life and inability to support memory cards.

My moto V3 would say fully charged but it died after 30 min of talking. My screen went blacked out several times and i have only had the thing for 2 days.

Motorola TMobile Z3 turns OFF itself while talking, taking a photo, video or checking messages.
Same issues here after 3 phone replacements by T-Mobile Motorizer Z3
Also I thought I was the only one having issues with Z3 Phone but not, check out Motorola RIZR Z3 forum at http://www.phonescoop.com/forums/search.php?q=Motorola+RIZR+Z3
It will also reboot while just sitting idle.
Major Lint issue on behind the main display.

The Motorola V3 is absolutely Beautifully crafted it looks way ahead of any other mobile phone! It has numerous features it cost me under £30 from Tescos I love it. It does what it should do...Bluetooth takes a while to figure...Navigation after getting familiar with it in a week or two....gets very easy..Ringtones are very numerous for calling & text...it could have mp3 & radio but is very good for what it is I rate it 91/2 out of 10...Terry of Weston Super Mare

These phones break way to much, and the front screen on mine has blacked out countless time and now won't work. I do NOT recommend anyone to get this type of phone!!!

I've had this phone for a year and a half now. When I got it, I remember being very disappointed. I didn't find the camera very good. Videos taken were very poor quality and I've always had a problem with getting it to charge. There are also a few buttons that have stopped working. My birthday is coming up and I'm getting a new phone and in all honesty, I can't wait to get rid of of my V3.

When I first got the phone I thought "Alright Its nice its cool... my mates will be jealous as it was the newest fashion type phone and had a really pretty sleek pink design."
It wasn't until about 6 months after I had the Motorola V3 that it went wrong. It started by switching off after someone picked up when I rang them and when sending messages. Then I noticed that the number 9 didn't work and neither did the directional buttons. Then the off button stopped working... and the button to start a call.
After a night out and my phone switching itself off when I had to desperately ring my mum in an emergency we thought we would send it off to be repaired.
After a week we got it back and thought OK as it did switch itself on and worked for the first couple of hours. Then it switched itself off every time I pressed a button and none of the buttons would work. Then it said low battery so we charged it. After about 8 hours on charge I took it off to go out. I was 5 minutes out the door when it switched itself off... again!
Soon enough every button stopped working and even when the phone had turned itself off the buttons were flashing and so the only way to not wear out the battery was to take it out. Then when putting the battery back in it started flashing again. We sent it back to be repaired around 3 times during the 18 months I had the phone and each time the same happened. It worked for around 5 minutes then switched itself off.
The camera [When the phone was working] was pretty rubbish and you couldn't really tell what you had taken a picture of. No memory meant no music and hardly any photos. If you had more then 15 messages then the whole phone would go slow and I ended up having to delete a lot of important messages.
If you are thinking of getting this phone then please read this review and take note: this isn't a phone... it's a handy paperweight.

this was my first Motorola phone and I was pretty excited to have the v3 pink Razr.
im not a clumsy person and had looked after all my phones, this one included, and I've never dropped it in water or had water splashed onto it or dropped it.
I've had the phone just over a year, 1 year 5 months now. it had been playing up the last 2 weeks and suddenly died on me. I thought it was the battery and brought a new battery.
Nope. Not that!
The screen didn't reboot and all I got was the keypad flashing on and off and now nothing at all. I've tried everything and now have read lots on the net about this common problem with the v3 and have resigned myself to the fact that it's burnt out.
It's a shame as I loved the phone. and I paid a lot of money for it.
Ah well. they're not built to last really. Though I still have an old 3210 (Nokia) and it still works. I'm using this as my emergency phone until I get a new one. Funnily enough the 3210 I dropped in a glass of water the day after I bought it. It still works. And it's 8 years old. Bit of an old timer and makes a buzzing sound and is held together by tape, its my last resort when I'm phoneless. Can't do that with the Razr! Just as well I kept the 3210! And yes I'm returning to Nokia, how I've gone full circle, it's so funny!
I think the problem with this phone is that it was SO good, that it was BAD. It had the new sleek design and hot look, it was light and slim and everyone wanted it. Black for boys and pink for girls.
I was beaming from ear to ear when I walked into the office with my pink flip phone.
Anyway, the bad thing is... it isn't robust enough and the keypad is FAB but it burnt out. It's not actually worth getting it repaired - almost as much or MORE as to get a new phone. I'd have stayed with Motorola had I got another year or so, out of that phone.
OK, I've had Nokia (have a new one winging its way to me) and I've had Sony, and the value SAGEM. the Sagem lasted longer!
I've had flip phones before and the v220 was basic, but that lasted longer. was a bit like a clamshell BRICK but lasted longer.
there is good and bad reviews about this phone and if you need a phone that you want to work and want for longer than 18 months don't go for this,.
If you're the impatient kind, don't go for this as it gets so SLOW when you have more than 20 messages in your inbox.
On the good side (when its not burnt out):
The camera isn't THAT bad.
I think if you want real good quality from a camera phone, BUY A DIGITAL CAMERA! Don't buy the phone for the camera! In general it was a fair-enough camera. had a zoom which was handy. But as it's died, it's no good now. Can't even sell it!
booo!
so I'll put it in my cupboard for now, always wondering how such a cool phone just crashed and burned so early on.
Ahhhh, never mind...

Overall, if you are thinking about this phone, PLEASE don't because it hasn't fixed its kinks yet and Motorola really screws the customer by making a phone just look cool. I got hosed on this phone and I hope anyone who reads this really thinks twice about the razr, because now I'm stuck with it until 2009.

I had one of those flip Motorola star trac phones years ago and never had a problem with it, had it for years, dropped it, threw it against a wall once in a fit of rage and it still worked but after the V3 i am never buying another Motorola product!!!!!!!!!!

I have had problems with this phone after a month!Of course could not refund it cause it was out of the time frame. When I had tried to talk to the carrier they said "There's not much you can do" Call support! Then they say you need to get some upgrade to keep the calls from getting lost *heh* That's gonna cost and then, well we can send it away for repairs if you want to get a loaner phone at a cost. When you try to answer calls if you touch the buttons on the side by mistake "bye bye". Don't be fooled by its looks! I have always been a Motorola fan but this one disappointed me BIG TIME! Also text messages would not go through, I thought they did cause it didn't say anything on the screen but when I checked the outbox it's still sitting there! Sorry but if the phone needed some piece of equipment to keep calls I wish that option was told to me! If the sales person cant sell you an add on to fix the problem...they don't wanna deal with you. Too bad they don't have a buyers remorse. If you wanna take a video...try and find it, Im sure its somewhere on the phone!

I regret taking this handset as a business mobile. If you want reliability of a Nokia, DO NOT pick this one. The camera is OK.

I got this Motorola V3 phone because I thought it was a good phone but I was wrong. It is a liability! It spent an entire night beeping at me and displaying random number sequences for no reason and wouldn't shut up or even turn off. Video is poor, and buttons which need all your weight on them before they move!
Am looking around for a new phone.

When I got the Motorola V3 phone, I wondered why they had a video on it but you couldn't actually use it!? Well, since this has been rebooted with new software, I now have video streaming, whoopee! However, there are no further improvements; bluetooth is still rubbish, camera is naff, even downloading new ring tunes (mp3) from PC to phone and the sound quality is very poor. Overall I wouldn't recommend this phone and next time I do buy a sim free phone, I will make sure I read up first. It was a lot of money to waste!

The Motorola V3 looks amazing and when they first came out owning one felt great! Now every one's got this phone and, "why", I ask? The quality's low. My screen on the front cracks randomly, the phone decides to just turn itself on and off again. If I ride my motor bike, it scratches so easy! The memory is sooo poor! It's slow as a mule and even worse, CHAVS have now adopted the phone as its own!!! Errr! DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE! if u want a phone for more than a month!!!!BUY THE SONY ERRICSON W810i!!!

The Motorola V3 looks great and I was happy with it for a while, but the battery is rubbish, it seems to be forever on charge, so VFM goes out of the window as electric costs soar!! I would not recommend this phone. I used it for work purposes but as it always needs charging, I seem to miss loads of calls and end up using voice mail more than anything.

I hate this Motorola V3 phone, it's ridiculous!!! I've had it since Christmas and it's September now and it's been ok up till August, when its battery charger started being weird and it had to be held in a certain position to charge, and now it doesn't charge at all! My friend has the same problem with her Motorola, so if you ask me, don't get a Motorola V3!!!! It's the worst phone I've ever had.

They are very poor value and I wonder if anyone does market research on them! Sure they are stylish, but there is a large chunk of the market NOT being catered for who only want a PHONE - not some gadget to do many other things than call/text. Simple phone required, black type, large screen- bingo!

I wasn't that happy with it to start with. but what happened was just bizzare, I went to sleep one day to wake up and find that it was burnt, I mean it wasn't working properly and you can see around the keypad that it was actually burnt. brown and looked like it was rusty then it wouldn't switch on by noon. that was really scary i mean i was asleep what if something could've happened, like the sheets could've been caught on fire!
