Hotel Alkion Was A Very Nice Place To Stay, I Am N

Hotel Alkion was a very nice place to stay, I am not a lay in the sun person but if you like this type of holiday its perfect.

If you like to explore there are lots of places to go on either a moped (prices vary enormously so shop around) or a car.

Love Halkidiki and the greek people make you very welcome , I will look to stay here again next year its a great base with lovely views

We Have Just Returned From Our Holiday To Greece W

We have just returned from our holiday to Greece where we stayed at the Hotel Alkion, Facilities are basic however the rooms are cleaned regularly and the friendly staff are more than happy to help. The views are superb, however the walk down to the beach is not bad I found the walk back is a killer... Up hill all the way!! However after a couple of days we found out about a Minibus/Train which can take you down and back up. The beach is nice, however I think is ruined a little by the amount of rubbish etc that is left behind (Mainly cigarette buts etc.) I think that there are other beaches which you can venture too. However we tended to stay round at the pool most of the time which is well kept. Unfortunately like all places you go to now if we wanted a sun bed we had to get our towel out there early. Otherwise we wouldn't have got a sun bed. The town is a short walk up the hill. The Tavernas that we went to where excellent, we tried about 9 different place in our two weeks there. If you can venture into the older section just behind the main road, there are a couple of really nice tavernas up there. This was a good family run business, we had a great holiday and would certainly consider going back there. Weather was excellent which always helps.

I Have Just Come Back From Here And Had A Great Ti

I have just come back from here and had a great time. The room was good although it is stated as a 4 star, in reality it would be only a 3 star if you were staying in Spain or other, none the less, the room was of good quality.

The pool is a good size and there was always a spare sun bed. The pool bar is good and has nightly entertainment and the grounds are of a good quality.

Many people have mentioned the hill to the beach, I admit if you are old, overweight or not very fit then you may have an issue with it but it is well worth the climb. I heard that there is a bus that goes up the hill but I didn't see one

Kriopigi is a well positioned town, it's near Hanioti which is much livlier and near the lovely looking town of Athitos.

On the "strip" there are the usual tourist restaurants where most things come with chips but there are a couple of gems there and if you want to eat authentic Greek food then in the old town are two restaurants. The second of the two is the best with great Moussaka, oh and there is an excellent one down one of the alley ways which has a garden out front.

Linen Looked Clean But Still Appeared To Have Stai

Linen looked clean but still appeared to have stains on them,

same with room looked clean but we left some marks on bath and sink and they never got washed off

I found the staff to be helpful except odd job man who only spoke Greek

If you struggle with your walking, I wouldn't recommend this hotel due to stairs and hills

I thought the apartments were spacious but short of a microwave oven and if you have guests, not enough crockery

I felt the air conditioning was overpriced at 5 euros

I Went To The Hotel Alkion With My Mother For My 1

I went to the Hotel Alkion with my mother for my 15th birthday in September 2007. I must say the weather didn't satisfy us as we are great fans of the sun. The walk up to the village didn't bother us in the slightest it was a nice little walk up. We regularly went to the Casablanca because we enjoyed it so much the first time we went. The drinks are reasonably priced there and the staff are very welcoming, there is an English woman that works there and she is lovely to chat to. The pool bar at the Alkion was great fun especially at karaoke night when everyone is up singing. We met a lot of people here. When it came to my birthday the staff all made a fuss of me, bought me a cake. That night was so nice all the guests and staff sang happy birthday to me, I was so happy I was crying with joy !

Me and my mum enjoyed it soooooo much there we have already booked to go back in august but for 2 weeks this time. Can't Wait !!!

Overall The Hotel Alkion Was Lovely, The Staff Wer

Overall the Hotel Alkion was lovely, the staff were friendly and helpful the only problem I had was the resort of Kriopigi, which I found to be expensive, compared to the resorts close by. I only ate one meal in a restaurant in Kriopigi as the menus and food were uninspiring. I spent most of the holiday exploring the peninsulars by car and found lots a much better and inspiring restaurants on my travel. All in all I would highly recommend the hotel but not the resort.

We Had A Wonderful Holiday At The Hotel Alkion In

We had a wonderful holiday at the Hotel Alkion in Halkidiki. The apartments are clean and well maintained. We had a ground floor two bedroom apartment, and although there was no living area, we did have two terraces and tables and chairs outside. In one bedroom there were two single beds, and in the main room where the kitchenette was situated we had a double bed and a single bed. There was also a table and chairs for eating, satellite TV (although the stations are very limited) and telephone for room service. The kitchen facilities are very basic, but who wants to cook on holiday anyway. There were two electric rings, a fridge, toaster and a kettle - enough for what you need. The bathroom was clean with bath and shower, toilet sink and hairdryer (no shaver point).

The pool at the Alkion is not very big, but it's enough to keep you cool, and the children were in it all day and never complained about the size. The one bad thing about the pool was the amount of chlorine in it, so take goggles and plenty of leave-in conditioner for the children's hair. It's OK if you just want a quick cooling swim, but if like my children you spend all day in it, then your hair will be like straw and will break easily when brushed, so it might be an idea to take some hot oil treatments if your children have long hair.

There's also a small games room for the children and table tennis.

The poolside bar is lovely. The staff are friendly and serve lovely snacks. They have entertainment a couple of times a week, which includes live music, Greek night, quiz night and bingo. The price for the Greek night includes a barbecue, and although we didn't go, it looked good fun for all those who did.

The walk to the beach is very steep, so we got the train back up which runs every hour until 5pm, and it costs 2 Euros each (unless you're Russian as it's free for those staying at the All Inclusive hotel). I have to say that I was bit disappointed with the beach, and we only went there once, but it is worth the walk down just to sit at the clifftop bar and look at the views across to the second peninsula. There is also a free mini bus which the beach bar run, which will take you up and down the hill, and this runs hourly too.

There are several nice restaurants in Kriopigi, although most are set on the main road. The Akropolis is family run, and the staff are all very friendly. Food is very nice and reasonably priced. If you walk up to the little square in Kriopigi there are two restaurants there, and we ate in both of these. Both were lovely, but the one with the blue table cloths was definitely the best, and we ate there a number of times. A two course meal for myself, my husband and three children (with wine and drinks) was around 70 Euros.

Try the sweet coffee shop on the main road for crepes, as it is really good, but also really busy. On Saturday nights the restaurants get really full as the Greeks are out in force, but everyone is really friendly, and you just might have to be patient when you're waiting to be served. There are loads more restaurants as well, so you won't be short of places to eat out.

We only went on one trip, which was the Pirate ship across to the second peninsula and around turtle island. It was great fun jumping in from the boat, and it was perfect for topping up our tan. We also went into Hanioti at night for a walk around and ate at Dionysys, which was great.

Overall, this was a fabulous relaxing holiday, which all the family really enjoyed and I would definitely go back. I hope you enjoy it!

The Hotel Alkion In Halkidiki Is Such A Friendly H

The Hotel Alkion in Halkidiki is such a friendly hotel. It is really pretty, and there is a great family atmosphere.

The resort is fairly quiet, but it is great if that is the sort of holiday you are looking for, which we were. I took my 5 year old daughter and we had the most amazing 2 weeks. I highly recommend this if you are a family or if you want a nice relaxing holiday.
