Adam Green, Adam Green - Fresh from success with the marvellous anti-folk band The Moldy Peaches, this album was Adam Green's first solo release. On it, he kept to the lo-fi, first-take ethos of the Moldy Peaches but has begin to develop his songwriting into a more mature, and subtle form of commentary and humour. This album works because alongside Green's rather bizarre take on life and his unusual observations are some rather shocking lyrical moments and some very funny songs. He also doesn't half know how to write a simple, yet catchy melody. This is acoustic punk rock from a crooner, a strange combination that works wonders. Long may this man continue to make off-beat and off-kilter records that defy the mainstream and, well, political correctness, social convention, moral and ethical subject matter.....
