Absolutely fabulous car MP3 player.. one of the best i've ever owned. Plays all types of CDs, MP3 CDs , quick loading, quick to play the song. Ideal for new users as it is very easy to use and has standard fitment so will fit all cars. illuminated screen and output for speakers is excellent and good mix of controls for sound balance.
I purchased this particular model after extensive research and i am a bit of a fuss pot when it comes to car stereos. This one stood out as it was reasonable priced and did everything i wanted it to do which included:
- ability to play normal CDs
- ability to play MP3 CDs
- preout for an amplifier if i ever wanted to put in a bassbox
- radio memory to save best readio stations
- good looking unit
- made by reputable brand
excellent value for money when purchased at £300 brand new!

Had the Kenwood KDC-M4524G CD/MP3 receiver for about 1 year now. No problems with it. Plays everything CD/CDR/CD-RW(had some jitters with one mp3 cd-rw). Plays all bitrates, including VBR.
Make sure your mp3's have all their ID tags written and it will display track/artist/album as it plays.
Burn your audio CD's with CD Text and it will display that too.
A great little machine, the two larger facia controls give bright blue light and all others can be turned to green or red.
Currently selling on-line for £114-GBP (Feb 2004) but I paid £140 GBP a year ago.
My "bad points" listed were not really significant to enjoyment of this player.

I have had the Kenwood KDC-M4524G CD/MP3 receiver for a couple of weeks now and I am very pleased with the results of purchasing this Cd player. Having previously had a Clio MTV (which met an unfortunate end) I just had to get a good cd player to match! This one definately is very good, and certainly does the job! The track display (which appears for some CD's telling you the name of the track) is very cool and certainly adds to the quality!! Having a cd player seems essential in a car these days so if you cant get factory fitted then this one seems both affordable and good quality. The only problem I have had so far is that driving up to Liverpool (a 4 hour journey) it did overheat, CD's were running very hot and started to distort the sound after a while. This may be a problem with my particular model and having had a kenwood before, I know it is not supposed to heat my cd's so that I can cook off them!! Im sure that this will be sorted by the company who fitted it for me so is a small problem, I would still buy a kenwood anyday!! Another good point is that this CD player can be linked to a steering wheel control for most cars, which although costly, is very useful and I just wouldnt go without. Definately a good choice to finish of my 206.
