Generally it was a disappointing experience and I wouldn't return to Crete for many reasons. The Mandraki hotel is one of the worst hotels I have every stayed in,. The prices where sky high for meals and eating out (approximately £30 per head for starter-main-two drinks food is very often cold as they run across a main road to serve you it!), the restaurants located around the town area near the 'so-called' beach pay their waiting staff to actively beg you with their hands clasped to get you to go into their restaurant everytime you pass, not a lot to do in general and the poor beaches and lack of swimming pools make it an all together very boring experience at most of the time. Take my advice on this one, if your planning on going to Crete (especially Agios Nikolaos or whatever) save yourself and go somewhere else instead!

Mandraki Apartments is a nice place, self catering with new fridges and cooking equipment. Clean shower/w.c area and quiet considering how close it is to town. Can organise trips for you if you want and there's a nice little bar with a sat TV in the entrance area. Nice place, nice people but they don't deal with tour companies so you need to go direct
