Hi,
Red Ace Squadron, Small Rockets is developed by Small Rockets which is not a large company, but they utilise their resources very well.
Today game companies only concentrate on graphics, so everything else is bad (story, controls), and you need a high end PC to play it. Unlike them, Small Rockets design their Games innovatively.
For the first time you will be controlling an old WWI plane with a simple mouse.
Graphics, sound and level designs of the game are excellent.
I got the demo from a mag cd. After playing it, I got addicted to it. I was very interested in World War I, so I liked the game very much. The graphics are good.
Background music is excellent, even though it is repetative and the controls are simple, you don't need to spend hours studying it like (F-16,MIG 21); with LMButton you FIRE at enemies using RMButton you drop bombs at enemy installations or fire rocket at your enemies. To change direction you just need to roll your mouse and it is very effective. You can roll, fly up, down to escape from enemy fighter attacks and fly very low for accurate bombing.
Anther thing is you can play as Allied and Axis forces. These offer a very different kind of playing as Allied forces are numerous in number compared to Axis. When you are fighting as Axis you have to be careful and skilled, especially when you are playing as THE RED BARON (an historical German pilot who wants to leave the battlefield only after all his enemies are finished. He wanted his enemies to come at him so he painted his plane RED).
When you fight against Germans, your main task is to crush the German infantry which is supported by the weak airforce so your offensive forces can advance.
Even though I did not try, I have heard it supports muliplayer mode.
I will recommend this game to anybody, but it is priced high at 19$. So first download the demo from smallrockets.com and buy the game.
The demo (15 MB) contains full game code and you can enable it by a key which costs 19$.
A similiar type of game is Hunt for RED BARON, also by small rockets. Here you Fight as British and finish the Germans.
SuperChix and Hot Chix are other games which have been developed using the same engine. Both are nice car races.

If you fancy being a World War 1 fighter pilot, then Red Ace Squadron has it all. To the accompaniment of realistic sound effects and some stirring music, you not only shoot down enemy planes but shoot up and bomb targets on the ground as well.
The graphics range from the very good to the adequate but the gameplay is superb showing real imaginative programing and is very good value for $19.99.
The demo (not time-limited) which contains the 'key' to unlock the full game may be downloaded free from:-

I found this review helpful because... I lost this game somewhere down the line, I want it back and your review may have uncovered my lost game, I do hope so.
