Contacted Epson and they said we will let you buy another Epson at a $30.00 discount. I could not salvage the $84.00 in brand new ink cartridges I installed as recommended to fix the problem. Not to mention the ones I had to throw away that were already in the printer when it broke. Epson said they would send me some more ink cartridges once I purchased another Epson. They would not refund my money otherwise. I am very hesitant. I would rather go back to my 2 HPs that I owned previously, that have not broken yet. Not good Epson...

I bought the Epson Stylus CX5400 after some consideration. It worked very well and consistently for about 15 months, then, as noted in another review, print quality deteriorated and could not be improved with nozzle-cleaning. The net result is that I am having to dump this machine after a relatively short time. I also found it quite bulky. The Epson ink monitoring system (where the printer stops when ink is 'empty') is a real rip-off, as it is clear that at least 30% of ink is still left. I bought a chip-resetter from the Internet, and this extended the life of ink cartridges considerably.
