After 18 months, my Philips 32PW6006C widescreen TV started switching back to Ext 1, uncontrollably. I was told it would cost 200 Euros to review and replace a part! The only solution seems to be to unplug it for a week or so (luckily we don't watch a lot of TV). I am in the market for a 42 or 50 inch plasma now, and it won't be a Philips.

It seems that poor tube life is a problem with Philips widescreen TV's.
After having a 28" 4:3 Philips for 7 years with no problems at all it seemed obvious to stay with Philips when purchasing a 16:9 TV. After reading reviews on here about this model and others it seems I made a mistake.
I bought a 32PW6006 in September '02 and its just started to give the red screen of death and switching itself to standby. A quick Google search pointed me to this site where I find I'm not alone. It appears that owners of various Philips models suffer from the same problem.
Because of the perfect reliability of my previous TV I decided against the extended warranty. If/when the tube goes my money will be spent on a new set from a different manufacturer.

Funny enough the same problems have happened to our Philips 32" television as happened with the previous reviewer, after 25 months the television has started switching itself off with out reason. We are currently trying to find out who can assist us with this problem as the TV is too big to fit in the boot of a car and there isn't a television repair man who can handle these "new microchip" televisions in a 100 mile radius. Philips of course have no interest in helping us fix this. Be warned, we will never buy a Philips again!!! The good old trusty JVC is back in the lounge until further notice!

Was happy with this Philips 32PW6006C 32 Widescreen TV untill two weeks ago. The set started turning itself off and with increased frequency to the point where it will not stay on at all now.
It even gets more interesting as two relatives have similar sets, one is a 32PW6005 - same problem €400 to repair and the other one, which I am not sure if its a 05 or 06 is starting to do similar things.
All are between 17-24 months old. Has anyone seen similar problems as Philips are not voulenteering any info yet.

Exactly the same has just happened to my 32PW6006. It is 15 months old, and luckily I bought from Costco with 3 year guarantee. Tube and processor faulty, so new TV required. Do not recommend this TV.
