A Refurb Is Needed

The Arsinoe Beach Hotel is a Grand hotel with a lot of redeeming features but signs of repairs and refurb are evident.

Staff - We found them courteous and helpful especially restaurant staff. When shown gratitude they responded with smiles and a cheery welcome each meal time. Chatted with one or two for a while. Very nice people, hard working.

Room cleaning staff. Treat them as you would like to be treated and see the response. Very warm and helpful.

Room - Good. Very large comfortable bed, needed more drawer space but that's nit-picking. Lifts were very unreliable causing us to walk up and down to 5th floor frequently. As my wife has bad knees that was not welcome. Air-con very welcome

Food/Restaurant - After first couple of days we were worried as food was mediocre but we learnt to look around before joining queue. Food was good to excellent with reasonable variety. Eating outside under the grape vines or near swimming pool was a nice touch. Other guests could be "irritating" pushing into queues barging others out of the way. Taking excessive food and wasting it, cooking 10 slices of toast at a time while others waiting to cook one or two slices.

Entertainment - Mediocre to pathetic. Singer/guitarists were dreadful. Out of tune wrong notes etc. One (Tuesday night) was so bad his backing tracks were the complete tunes and we got an occasional chord played by the guy. The chord was out of tune. As a guitarist myself, they were both like people who had played for only a couple of months or so. Terrible. The two female turns were better but....

Position of Hotel - 5mins from sea over busy main road. Our room was top floor overlooking road. Traffic was noisy especially large motorbikes. Using the road as a dragstrip the noise night and day was terrible.

General - The hotel is showing signs of wear and tear. Dangerous stairs on outside of building, used when lifts not working. Some steps had crumbled so much that the steel reinforcements were showing and several people nearly fell as those steps were narrower and uneven due to concrete broken away. Lifts need replacing. Only two people at a time in one of the lifts, three in another and four in the third lift - if you could get them. Decor looking faded and dated in many areas.

Places nearby - Great beach with easy access, Georges pub. Turn left and walk 50 yards. Great food and service. Not as cheap as some but not expensive. Quality was good. This place was full whereas other adjacent establishments were nearly empty.Use local buses, cheap and reliable. Ask for timetables of intercity (Green) coaches as a very economicl way to visit Paphos, Nicosia etc.

Overall - I would recommend this place to fit people who can climb many stairs, who don't mind rudeness in restaurant from other guests and can sleep through the traffic noise.

Finally - The waiters and waitresses under direction of head waiter Arsen, are first class. Well done.

Very Disappointed With Arsinoe Beach Hotel. Rooms

Very disappointed with Arsinoe Beach Hotel. Rooms in the old part of hotel were very small. Old swimming pool is very grotty and little used. Food at breakfast and dinner was boring to say the least. Has anyone ever had scrambled egg with PEAS and sweetcorn? This is what you can expect here every day! Rice pudding and porridge is also served, every day. Also roast potatoes-for breakfast. Evening meal was repeated too often and the dessert on offer was jelly, jelly and more jelly. Eat out at Rebeccas(100 yds.away). Choice is brilliant and reasonably priced. Supermarket next to Rebeccas is good for money change(no com) and Stasino rentacar is excellent vfm.Bus to Limassol center is cheap(70c)and runs every 15 mins.Resort area is quieter than the main part of Limassol but this suited us.There are still loads of places to eat and drink in the area, but for shopping a trip to the old town is a must.I would not rate this hotel a 3*simply because of the food on offer, also the accomodation is a let down.Staff were very friendly, helpful and hardworking. Many guests seem to return here year after year.I cannot understand why !!

Arsinoe Beach Hotel Was Excellent, The Service By

Arsinoe Beach Hotel was Excellent, the service by all staff was great, the bar staff were brilliant, always cheerful and happy. Rooms are of a good size and standard. Food was also of a high standard. Only downside was due to visiting in March, some of the facilities (i.e. pool bar) were not open, this was due to the fact that the weather had only just picked up and there were not many people utilising the pool area.
