For Mid-fi ($15,000 And Below) Qed Silver Annivers

For mid-fi ($15,000 and below) QED Silver Anniversary is a good cable to invest in. Unless you are going to sit up and analyse the cable performance under a microscope, it is extremely good value for money. It should satisfy 95% of discerning music buffs.

I Bought The Qed Silver Anniversary Cable After Re

I bought the QED Silver Anniversary cable after reading What Hifi reviews and on my dealer's recommendation. I bought the cable to replace my old Cable Talk. The difference was amazing, even with my old low-end separates. The cable is much thinner than the Cable Talk, but is a far superior cable. The amount of extra detail that it brings out is wonderful. The treble is especially clear, and the bass lovely and tight. Biwiring with another run (or using the biwire version) provides even greater purity of signal.

I now use the cable to biamp my Arcam/Quad setup, and it is really at this level that it really shines. It seems particularly well-suited to this setup, bringing a touch of zing to the otherwise laid-back sound of the kit.

I have heard one dealer who doesn't rate the cable as highly, as he thought that with some brighter sounding kit it can be too harsh at the top end. However at least with my kit it really sounds the business.

Totally agree with to comments about Qed AS a fine cable for the money but yes it can be over bright in a very few systems.

I will say that cable talk maybe the worst cable out there and even standard bell wire would have been an improvement.

I Was Slightly Dissapointed With My Marantz Pm7200

I was slightly dissapointed with my Marantz PM7200 driving Tannoy MX2-M bookshelf speakers. Attaching special separators to the speakers helped the treble clean up but still there was a blandness. On the stregnth of reviews I bought this QED QED Silver Anniversary cable. Unbelievable. I would never have thought that a mere cable could make so much difference. A lucidity and sweetness sang itself immediately out of the speakers. Bass became tight and firm but not pronounced. Nitin sawhney's album, Human, comes to life with emotionality touching the heart. Miles Davis's Kind of Blue sounded like it never sounded before. This cable is magic. It may not suit very bright aggressive systems though as it is extremely detailed.
