After nine months of touring, Kiely Devlin looks forward to R&R in her Manhattan apartment when her worst nightmare, her best friend, director Lida Rose Worthington, informs her that her plane ticket awaits her at LaGuardia to take her to Dallas. LR expects Kiely to perform in a remake of the classic "Bad Business on the Brazos", a hundredth anniversary gala event. Kiely almost agrees until LR mentions "perfect", reminding her that her pal has matched her to losers every summer. Still, Kiely flies to Texas, having been blackmailed with the offer of three meals a day of the best Tex-Mex food in the country.

Kiely scoffs at the rumor that the East Ellum Theatre is haunted by Don Muller, an actor killed on stage, until she meets him munching popcorn. Kiely begins inquiries into what happened fifty years ago but dangerous occurrences happen to her and not just falling in love with Rafe Montez, playing Don's role. Although he ridicules her belief in the ghost, he will do anything to keep his beloved safe.

GHOST OF A CHANCE is a great tale that effortlessly combines elements of chick lit, buddy tales, paranormal, and amateur sleuth with a contemporary romance in such a manner that cross-subgenre fans will welcome a new talent onto their bookshelves. The storyline is extremely humorous especially when LR and Kiely debate anything as if the former is from Pluto and the later is from Mercury. The hunks (the ghost may be ephemeral but what a bod) are fabulous as they haunt the heroine. Anyone who gives Flo Fitzpatrick's book a chance will appreciate this amusing tale.
