All over dirty, unhygienic place. Uncomfortable to have coffee, tasteless items.

i went into Cafe Nero today and there was a dachshund sitting on a small blanket up on the table which proceeded to lick the mugs, to the amusement of its owner. I didn't bother saying anything because somebody else had already complained about the dog on the table (don't think they saw it licking the mug, several times). They were told that the surfaces were cleaned with antibacterial spray but nobody rushed over to do this when they left! Most unhygienic.

Back in the UK after a long break, and looking forward to a Nero - always used to think they were best quality of all the chains. I bought my usual black coffee in the kiosk in Liverpool Lime Street. I couldn't try it until I boarded the train; it was so weak it was barely recognisable as coffee. What a shame their quality has slipped so much; I don't mind paying £2 for a good coffee, but surely they don't need to skimp on the amount of coffee to this extent?

having been to Italy more than 20 times in my life, and knowing well what a coffee should taste like, I don't see why Caffe' Nero has a bit "Italian Coffee" sign outside! The coffee isn't the real deal, it doesn't have the foam that stops the sugar at the top, it doesn't taste the same, and it doesn't looks the same, in fact it has nothing to do with it.

The problem with cafe Nero is that you never know what you're getting. I used to stop regularly at the one at St Pancras station cause the coffee is ok and the staff were always friendly and cheerful.Unfortunately, this seems to be the exception rather than the rule. At the store in Piccadilly my encounter with one member of staff has ensured that I never visit another Cafe Nero again. The girl at Piccadilly was rude and offensive and complained about having to 'look after' customers. Not a great attitude for someone who works in customer service. Cafe Nero in London only seems to employ people over from Europe on extended holidays and there never seems to be any management around so maybe it's not surprising that a some of the staff are not too bothered about the level of service they provide as they are only looking to make some holiday money anyway. That's all fine, but when you're spending between 5 and 10 pounds for a coffee or two and a piece of cake, then as a customer you really deserve better.

I recently visited the Caffe Nero in St. Helens with my two small children. As usual the coffee was good and the staff were friendly, but our experience was let down by the cleanliness of the coffee shop and, in particular, the state of the disabled loo/ baby changing facilities. It was - quite frankly- discusting. I don't think it had been cleaned all day. The actual coffee shop area could also have been cleaner and tidier. There were cups and plates strewn over most of the empty tables and I had to wipe my table with a baby wipe before we could sit down. I only stayed because I had a gift card to use!

My husband and I regularly use the new coffee shop in Witney, Oxfordshire, but the staffing at lunchtimes is appalling, so slow and 1 assistant doing all the work which means the table clearing goes out of the window although having said that, it is like that during the day. When the tables are cleared, hygiene !! they don't know the meaning of it, the tables are never wiped down properly, disgusting. Needs a good shake up. Also people that go in to use their laptops sit there for hours with 1 cup of coffee, they should be moved on as they are taking up space for people who would like lunch. We won't return to the Witney branch.

i have had some good experiences at cafe Nero but i have had such bad experiences lately that i will never return if i can help it. stale and dry tasting chocolate muffin. over priced coffee. (compare the price to Costa for example.) stale pain a raisin. plain out of date (by two days!!)apple cinnamon muffin. When i complained i was greeted by rudeness. yes, there have been good times at Nero. The soup and bread is good. The seats are comfortable. The service has been friendly at times. I like that their coffee coolers are not made with syrup. But it is too unpredictable. The only advantage of chains are that they are often cheaper and the service and products predictable. Cafe Nero is quite expensive and i never know if it will be good or bad. Lately it has just been bad. I will avoid this chain. trying to feed your customers out of date food is not right.

Nice layout but decor looking tired.Toilet cleanliness not up to an acceptable standard. Staff vary in their relationship with customers. A welcoming smile and greeting is often lacking.
We like the atmosphere created by fellow customers and the convenience of the location and early hours of opening.

Caffe Nero in Sidcup, London is as usual very well designed though now a bit dated. The panelling is vey nice but very masculine and the poster pictures of two girls enjoying coffee in Italy is very appealing but not very realistic. I've heard of the 'happy hour' in Tuscany where everyone enjoys a coffee with friends but I have recently been to Pisa and I didn't see any people enjoying coffee aa certain hour. You really should have a adverts that reflect the country you're selling coffee to using English girls set in England as it is more likely to appeal to the English community. The Italian in genenerallyt do not look anything like those two girls and no one seemed to be enjoying coffee as much as them.
Otherwise the food and coffee is of very high standard and a great place to meet friends and sometimes intelligent people who you might have got into converstion with. I love the age-old sofas where I often read the papers and enjoy my cappucino. The chocolate is excellent as well.

Having been a Nero fan, my loyalty is on the wane. Their coffee is more to my taste than S'bucks or Costa, but the service and value for dosh is falling rapidly. For instance, at the central York branch at lunchtime today, service was dreadfully slow, depite there being only a moderate amount of customers, with only one fully trained member of staff in charge(and I remember HE was wearing a learner tee-shirt only the other day). I queued for am age, my tuna paninni took 20 minutes to arrive; it had obviously been in the toaster for all that time, was as flat as a digestive biscuit, and hotter than an erupting volcano, and presented without a word of apology for its condition or lateness !!!!

My friend, who is allergic to nuts found a peanut in a muffin she was told was nut free.
Milk in her tea smelt stale.
I have to say i ordered a Mocha Latte And it was very nice,
though a little strong.
My double chocolate biscotti was very nice, even though I thought it had a random taste of raw egg, but it really tastes of cake mixture, which i love!
i would probably return there but i wouldn't return at lunch time.
overall : food. okay.
cleanliness. poor in my experience.
service. excellent.

Have been a fan of Caffe Nero's for a while as they claim to have the best coffee this side of Italy, a big statement indeed. However of late the prices have gone up the mugs they serve in ( no small in most ) are soup bowls which you can't finish and the coffee hit and miss.
I have yet to see a coffee served like this in Italy. Staff training wouldn't go astray either
