“Volume!”

★★★☆☆

written by jules_london on 07/02/2022

Had a really nice experience at Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square last weekend. Nice helpful staff, clean premises, comfy seats, great film. Just one problem, my ears being nearly ruptured by the sound level. Why does the volume have to be so high??? It is actually painful and I'm not sure I can go back to the Odeon again because of this. What a shame!

“Birmingham New Street Location”

★★★☆☆

written by tgMartinez431 on 18/06/2014

1. Told the cashier we had a discount card and she proceeded to finish ringing the order, without the discount and then said 'sorry, too late, its already rung'. 2. On another visit, with only one couple in front of us, we waited 10+ minutes to purchase tickets. This is because the cashier moved without speed and without efficiency, as if she had no cares in the world and there was not a growing queue. One of her co-workers finally remove his thumb from his backside and got on another register. After buying tickets and walking away, I noticed the lackadaisical employee was STILL waiting on the same couple. 3. Small, uncomfortable seating, no leg room, no arm room, was even worse it seemed, then being on an airplane. 4. Noisy child screaming for the first 30 minutes of the movie. Patrons confronted the mother (did no good, she would not respond) and complained to staff. NOTHING was done! 5. Theaters are VERY dark when entering to find seats. I noticed several people using flashlights in order to see where they were going. I am not use to this. There should be ample lighting BEFORE the movie starts. Once the commercials/previews start rolling, that is when the lights should go out. One should not be stumbling around in the dark when its 15 minutes before movie time. I actually have had people fall up the stairs and into me, trying to make their way to seats.

“More ticket offers please!”

★★★☆☆

written by janesmith1975 on 22/10/2013

I love going to the cinema. Seeing a film on the big screen is so much better. However, the price of the seats and the crammed leg room is not! Why on earth have ticket prices gone up and up and up. For me to go and see a film on my own its around a tenner. I could buy the film on DVD to watch as many times as I like. It doesn't help the leg room is so small too and the seats not that comfortable unless you're seating in the premier seats (for an extra charge). I know Cinemas need to be a little more expensive but a trip to the cinema for a family of four can cost around the same price as feeding them for a week. Four tickets, drinks, sweets, maybe a 3D film instead of the normal 2D. Is the experience really worth it? In the last year I have only been to the cinema twice and both times I have paid with vouchers that have cost me half the price (thanks to a friend) and my tesco reward points. I would much rather spend my money elsewhere, as I don't feel the cinema is value for money nowadays. Gone are the days of queuing around the block to see the latest blockbuster.

“Odeon Norwich ”

★★★☆☆

written by on 20/07/2013

Even though we where going through a mini heatwave on the day in question the weather outside was overcast and wet and a bit chilly so I was really hacked off when we walked into the odeon Norwich to find they had there air conditioning on full and it was about 2c in the foyer and most people shivering . We then had about an hour to kill before the film started and decided to go for a coffee. We had been pre warned about odeons changing there policy so that people's points expire after a certain date. However to withdraw products ie coffee and soft drinks and snacks from your shop/bar from the scheme is ridiculous. I have accumulated 1750 points and paid for two showings that evening. I had eight days left two either spent my points or loose them but but you changing thè goal posts the odds where stacked against me unless I wanted to drown in popcorn, icecream or coke which has a mark up of at least 200% and then is watered down with more ice. There was a time when going to the flicks meant something . Now now a days it means you have to keep your wits about you as the bady is not always in the film but serving you from behind a counter.

“not bad ”

★★★☆☆

written by madcat on 28/04/2012

Our Odeon in Norwich isnt too bad which isnt a great review really is it! The toilets are disgusting, theres alot of cubicles yet i couldnt find one that wasnt clean! they stunk and either had blood splattered on doors and walls or weird marks you didnt want to think about. Snacks are really over priced, and the standard seat arm rests are uncomfortable due to wear, i even scratched my arm on one of them one visit. On the upside the kids films are cheap at the weekend, and really laid back. Que time is quick, staff really friendly and they refund your parking, so not all bad

I find that the odean is slightly over priced for seats, food and drinks etc but then most cinemas these days are. The Odean website is good, easy to use and you can check times and order tickets pretty easily. There is a big IMAX screen at the manchester one so it's well worth checking out - I watched Boewolf in 3D there, was amazing!!!!

Generally I've had good, quick service and seats have been alright... what more could you ask?
