On the 5th July 2015 21 members of my family ( 8 from Canada )decided on a day out at Pleasureland Southport . We had a wonderful day full of fun and laughter , the younger end of the family between them tried all the rides . Even the adults in the party had a go on the dodgems the watershoot and the rollercoaster . A few days earlier we were on the pier in Llandudno they had a ball shape ride in water which was a lot more fun than the one at Southport . Worth a look . The only disappointment for me was the Disabled toilet . The toilet is too low and not enough aids/handels to help you get off the toilet . I also thought the baby changing facilities were poor although that didn't affect me personally . When we had finished some of the party went on the go cart track again a good time was had . To finish off our day in Southport we went to the Brewers Fayre close by for a meal . The restaurant was very busy , when we said we had a party of 21 they opened up a special room away from the crowds . We had excellent service that finished off a wonderful day in Southport .

Had a nice day out in Southport today and noticed that the fair was open again. Spent a great hour at Pleasureland; spent £15 on 3 rides each for our 3 children aged 3-13. No queing, nice and clean. Great easy going fun, will go again soon!

Went last week to new pleasureland (24th March 2012) and i must admit it's looking a lot better than previous years and Free entry unlike some places. New rides lots of bright coloured painting been done, and after speaking to a staff member, was informed that there will be even more rides and new cafe's ect for easter and summer, so looks as if the old place is back on the up!! It certainly looked it. We had a fantastic time! so well done to whoever has aquired the place, keep it up:) Can't wait now for easter as we will definitely be going back!

We had a voucher for 10 free rides if you have one paying customer per ride (which my daughter brought home from school.) Before we left for pleasure land Southport we read all the small print to make sure we could use it at the weekend or bank holiday NOWHERE on the voucher said WE COULDN'T. When we got there we tried to redeem our vouchers only to be told we couldn't use them over the bank holiday weekend. I tried explaining that there was nowhere on the voucher that said this but the manager just couldn't be bothered he could see my children were upset but all's we got was a big fat NO!!! The total unprofessonalism of this place is astounding. To actually send these vouchers out to children in schools without the correct information is disgusting. My advice would be don't bother going not only are they unprofessional but the rides are old and clapped out the place needs a good refurb!!!!

the advert on tele said a £1 a ride but when u get there its £1 per token but most rides are 2 or more tokens there are a few for 5 tokens or £5 per ride not worth it i stayed for about half an hour an went it was that bad i certainly wont ever be going back there again.

Having visited the site with my two children (both under 8 years) I found most rides good value at 1 token, each token costing £1. However, when my son wanted a ride on the dodgems I was a little taken back at the cost... only because he’s not quite big enough to ride alone, I was asked for 4 tokens for the two of us to ride in a single car That’s £4 for a 2minute ride When I asked the manger if it was correct, he replied ‘take it or leave it’ and with this I won’t be returning or recommending the park to anyone I know... Well it is not the best Theme Park ever, but it is quite nice and I had really good time there!

We go to Southport every year I've been going since I was a child, now I take my children. I can remember the original pleasure land and was totally devastated when it closed down but we have still carried on going for day trips and weekends. It would be a very good idea as someone else stated to have a wristband policy and could do with a little tidying up but we still love it and will carry on visiting! Praise to them for trying

Needs vast improvement as it basically is just a funfair now. Would be better value if there was an option to have a wristband for e.g.£15. Some staff seemed miserable and one was even smoking whilst cleaning a ride. Hopefully in the next few years it will improve. Crazy Golf is still good and food/drink prces are reasonable

I took my 7yr old son for the day and we had a fantastic time. the town itself is very cosmopolitan these days, lots of cafe bars and excellent shopping. The funfair was good value but 2 b fair it does need some money spent on it because when we approached it from the prom it looked like it was derelict, which is a shame when u see the money spent on the pier and the town. Once in pleasureland it was okay tho. Rides 4 young and old, cheapest £1 but mostly £2 ago which isnt bad.Excellent transport links from funfair 2 the pier and tram down the pier if u dnt fancy the walk! model railway village, crazy golf and the marina which hires boats or you could go on paddle steamer and chill 4 20mins. If u a single parent then £50 would do half of the rides, lunch, arcades, boating lake and a pint!

this is advertised on tv at £1 a ride...when you get there the tokens a a pound, and a family pack is 60 tokens and 60 vouchers for £60.00.. so we thought a bargain and bought them..the 5 ride's my grandchildren wanted to go on the did not take the vouchers." sorry when you bought the family pack for £60.00 it worked like this.. you pay a person on a ride and you give a voucher to get another person free".sounds good dont it? well as i said the 5 most desired rides dont take the vouchers and are 5 tokens per person so works out at £5.00 and then when i aske how many tokens are all the other rides he said between 1 and 3??????? i had my granchildren on nearly all the rides and looked very hard and could not find any rides that was a £1.00... the only thing i found for a pound was a bottle game where you chuck a small ring around the top.."impossible," shear luck lol.. anyway i did find 1 good thing and that is we did not have to wait to go on any ride's.... so they need to drop the £1.00 a ride advert as it will really spoil some 1's day if they dont take enough.. and by the way you end up with around 30 vouchers left that prob would tempt you to buy more tokens rather than give them back or throw them :-0(chrissi from rochdale

If you like walking through rubble this is the place for you.
Scruffy tatty rides, filthy arcades, not a nice day out at all. the Crazy golf was terrible, half the course open, the half you can use, all worn out, the holes full of "i have no idea"
Not a nice experience at all, stick to another better know amusement centre.

I didnt like Pleasureland at Southport because there wasn't much for the teenagers as I am one.

The old Pleasureland Southport owned by pleasurebeach was a great place to go after school and on holidays. A good selection of rides considering the space it only had. Traumatizer now the infuson better than the nemesis and the casablanca bar was a great place to go for a meal and a few drinks after enjoying the rides. Pleasureland shouldn't of closed.

I had a really good time at Southport Pleasueland, I will certainly return with more friends to share the fantastic experience.

Next door there is go karts and a cinema, bowling and many places to eat such as McDonalds, Brewsters, Pizza Hut and Frankie & Benny's.
Then, when you have eaten your fill, you can take a stroll down the pier and if you go to the end you will find a cafe overlooking the beach and an arcade with machines from the 1920s and you swap your Pennys for Old Pennys.
If you go the other way you'll find Funland and a few more rides with Golf, Crazy Golf and a train that takes you along the entire pier.
It doesn't stop there because you can fascinate yourself with the BMX and skater dudes who show off just for you and if you've got some skill, go down there yourself or just go shopping on the bridge.
Finally, you can't go to the marine lake without a trip on the speed boat or the old fashioned cruise.
With the new Splash World that should open soon (a water park), Southport is the best place to go, ever.

For all of Pleasureland's life it suffered in the shadow of Blackpool Pleasurebeach, that lived just across the estuary. Blackpool always had the bigger, better rides. Blackpool is like the cool kid at school that everyone wanted to be like.
Southport had spectacular value for money. There was hardly a day in the year without some sort of discount or buy-one-get-one-free offer. I know of nowhere else you could get the sheer amount of rides you got for such value for money.
It's not as if the rides are horrible either. Southport is the residence of the Cyclone, Wild cat, Space Shot, Chaos and Traumatizer SLC. This collection of rides always dragged you back again and again, and you could get on every time, without any hint of a queue. And it's not as if it is a marathon trek to each ride, like at Alton Towers for example. You could quite literally hop between attractions. At parts you can actually see both ends of the park at once.
On the other hand, Pleasureland is a scraggy park. It is untidy, badly themed, and falling apart in places. There is litter round almost every corner. And bits of plaster that have fallen off buildings scatter the path in a truly awful fashion.
As for the theme of the place, whoever thought of the idea to theme it like Arabia seriously deserves sacking. What were they thinking? And it's not like they can even pull it off either. There is minimal theming around the park, and in most places, none at all.
Many of the rides seem to lack a purpose also. The log flume that will keep you waiting for what seems like an eternity just for one mediocre drop. Or King Solomons Mines. The ride that is no uncomfortable it actually borders on punishment.
In all, Pleasureland is a great day out, as long as you are not bothered by poor theming or litter. Just stay away from the dreadful King Solomons Mines and the Log Flume.

- Pleasure Land Southport is a fun day out
- Cheaper than a lot of other theme parks (especially with 2 for the price of 1 on wristbands vouchers, which can be found on ebay)
- Less waiting time for rides
- Rides to suit all age groups
- Situated in nice area
- Rides maybe aren't as good as Alton Towers, Blackpool etc
- Hard to get to if you don't live in area (train links etc are poor)
- Food prices within the park are extortionate (but you will find this in all theme parks)

Pleasureland isn't the worst theme park in the area; because there's Camelot.
Pleasureland has quite a way to go before you could consider it worth going to Southport for, but if you're in the area or you've been to the beach, there are worse places to go.
But anyone who's experienced a US theme park (Disney, Universal) will be appalled and amused by what Southport has to offer. It's both quaint and tacky, but its not ghastly in the way Blackpool has become.
Some of the rides are well past their sell by dates; looking like cast-offs from Butlins. There are at least two Merry-Go-Round like rides that are pre-1940's! Come on!
I sincerely can't imagine that Pleasureland can improve vastly without the use of a new site and a lot of explosive. However, on reflection, the food wasn't bad, and the kids (both under 6 at the time) had fun. I wouldn't recommend it to travel too, but if you're in Southport anyway, it's worth a look.

I agree with this review because pleasureland has always suffered in the hands of pleasurebeach in blackpool, they shoud have kept it equel and maby the park would still be here today
