“95 Daytona 900, made to make you smile.”

★★★★★

written by Jimnekrikit on 14/04/2013

Bought the Daytona after having owned a Trophy 900 for a year or so. Although I can't really fault the Trophy, the extra 20 bhp of the Daytona makes a big difference. Tall and heavy at the kerb, dragging it off the quite low sidestand is sometimes a struggle, not for the faint hearted or small of frame!. Centre stand is at the perfect balance point and a little pressure with the foot is sufficient to have the bike pivoting. Smooth running with the throaty growl underlying the distinctive Triple scream of the marque it accelerates smoothly through the gears, handles like a dream through the bends and is very stable at high speed. Will go all day at 70-90mph achieving up to 50mpg. Oil use can be an issue, careful monitoring is needed. but then we all check levels each week anyway, don't we? Can be a bit hard on some rear tyre types with milages I've achieved varying between 3500 on a Bridgestone 021 dual compound to 7500 on a Contimotion. Mine has "super III" upgrades most noteable being the Triumph 6 pot brake calipers on the front. These would stop a train on a sixpence and one or two finger operation is often sufficient, grabbing a handful of brake is not to be recommended in slow traffic. I have found a tendency to misfire a little when the engine gets hot on a long, stop-start, slow run through town such as a charity run. I thought it was just the Trophy that was temperamental but I find the same happens with the Daytona. They don't like going slow for a long period! Problem soon rights itself when you get moving again though. Top tip:- Watch that battery condition. This bike needs a good battery to avoid starter clutch issues. If the starter clutch goes it's an engine split and you would be looking at the best part of £1000, better to get a new battery.

“1995 Triumph Daytona 900. Tank.”

★★★★★

written by 95daytona900 on 09/03/2012

I bought this bike as my first bike and just like everyone says you should be at least 5'10-6' to ride it. trust me. im 5'8. its a pain to backup, i only weigh about 150 and i can handle it pretty well for it being 530lbs with a full tank. however given that this bike is a tank. i laid it down going about 30 and hit a median. a new clutch cover and it was right as rain. i was wearing jeans a textile jacket and neoprene gloves and walked away with barely a scratch on me. i love this bike and even though its too big for me she still treats me well. tops out at about 150 and will only standup in 1st gear. i get 150 miles out of the tank if i shift at 3500 or at 7500. amazing bike. if your 6' and over 165 you will be perfect for this bike. after all, triumph is one year older than harley.

I have owned my second Daytona Super 111 for two and a half years now and it has done 67 000 miles. The first one I owned for four years. What a bike! It is so good on fuel (49 mpg),has the torque of a V-twin and the top end of a four cylinder bike.
I sold the first one to buy a Harley, but after seven months, just had to have another Super 111.
Very reliable and stable bike to ride. The engine feels so strong and was over engineered by Triumph.Sounds great too and it has character.

“I purchased this beast new a 95 model in 96 and since...”

★★★★★

written by tripleguy on 29/09/2008

I purchased this beast new a 95 model in 96 and since have accumulated over 44,000 miles.
Incredibly stable at high speeds with respectable cornering and braking that is quite powerful. Gas mileage is not all that great with the throttle pegged, 120 miles and the reserve comes on.
The triple sound is a better than a baptist church choir, very mechanical gurgle and howl.
Low speed stability requires extreme caution and skill.
This is not a bike that you will see a woman or girl on, much too tall and heavy off the stand. This motorcycle has gender bias, it is a big man's bike.
But once it is rolling it feels quite easy to steer quickly.
I am going to ride this thing into the middle of this century I am quite sure. All you have to do is feed it 15-50 mobil1 every 3500 miles and be sure to change the filter.
What a bike. Turns heads everwhere I go.
If you can find one get one.

I'm a girl and I've got one and I love it.
<br/>Slow speed control is not too bad if the tires are inflated correctly.

When I bought mine I had no idea what it was, just another Daytona I thought. Didn't know they were any different. Upon getting it home and looking through the extensive pile of bills and service history, it turns out I've got a Super 111, rode like I'd stole it until I did a tour of the factory, and the "officianado" showing me round showed great interest in my bike. It's now been relegated to second bike, to be replaced by a 955i Daytona. It only comes out on sunny days, but the Laser race cans certainly make me smile, and everybody turns and looks.

My Triumph Daytona 900 bike is the Super 111 variant. One of the nicest looking bikes made! Due to its weight this bike is very stable and an excellent mile-muncher. Attracts attention because it's a Triumph. It's not a perfect bike by any means, but it's got that something that makes you feel good when your on it. On the whole, an excellent bike!

I've owned my Daytona for nearly 2 1/2 years and I love the thing!
Last summer I went for a 320 mile ride of which 120 miles were in torrential rain and it didn't miss a beat. I carried a pillion and it made no difference to the performance that I could tell.
I had a Suzuki Gsxr 1100 before the Daytona and it was a pig to ride, the Triumph is so easy to ride it makes you feel good.
Mines done 25000 miles and doesn't leak or burn any fluids.
Buy one!

★★★★☆

written by mellocello on 14/01/2006

Owned and enjoyed a '94 Triumph Daytona (900) to '98 from new, doing <70,000km. in that time. Excellent machine for sports touring, being solid, reliable, adaptable (fitted Givi carrier).
Beautiful aesthetics and styling, with beautiful sound, changing as the rev-range and level it was pushed -to changed. Powerful snarl developing as pushed the bike and gained confidence in its performance.
Good performance and handling, though handling was not the absolute best, it was solid and predictable.
Not the ultimate in speed and power-performance either (other bikes of same size were better on statistics) , but that wasn't why I purchased it anyway. I was always fully satisfied by the power and consistency of the band, with no flat-spots in this.
Used the bike to almost 70,000km, with no indications of any wear or limit to the motor.
Superb bike for touring (doing 6 week trips yearly) as well as weekend breaks.
Slightly heavy around town, with centre of gravity a little high.
Heavy bike when riding very slowly, but the solidness and weight were aspects I had been looking for.
Few problems, just requiring regular servicing. The last year, mufflers required welding and would have needed replacement another 12-18 months.
