I had a lot of problems with the bluetooth and re-occurring system errors on my Nokia 6260. The size is a bit too big too, and it is rather flimsy compared to other flip phones.

I think the bluetooth problem is happening on a lot of Nokia phone - I had the Nokia 7270 and it had the same problems.

The Nokia 6260 is a nicely designed mobile phone with a screen that can be rotated 180 degrees and folded back. It is practical in various environments; such as a class or meeting. The black one looked far better than the silver one, but always leaves grease or marks after each use.

I got a silver one for a week, and the phone crashed and died. I returned it to the retailer and was told that they have quite a few returned ones because of a design fault with the phone.

The retailer only exchanged it for the same phone, so I got a black one, and hopefully it will be OK. The phone has been used since April 2005, and so far it has worked fine.

I got the Nokia 6260 mobile phone as I wanted a very capable smart-phone.

While I couldn't get the email client to work at first, it works now (don't know why!), and although I have never got the MSWord reader working (QuickWord), the PowerPoint reader isn't bad.
An aftermarket PDF reader would be great, but I'm sure there's one out there, and the web browser is superb.

There are some great Symbian applications available for reasonable prices, I just wish the phone would work all of the time!

The Nokia 6260 is a very nice looking phone, that was what first drew me to it. It's menu is easily understandable. I think some people may think that it is a bit too bulky, but i like the reverse screen effect, where you can flip the screen over for 'work mode'. It is hard work to write a text message, as the menu and navigation keys are on the top half to the phone, with the numbers at the bottom. Still a great fun phone.

The Nokia 6260 is a great mobile phone, and very practical for day to use. It is easy for text messaging, has good reception over-all for phone-calls.
What more could you want? It is packed with all the latest goodies you would find on a 2005 generation phone, and it is a nice phone, and looks a bit different to what you usually see on the market these days.

I`m quite annoyed with Nokia. Don`t get me wrong, I like the phone, there are plenty of features, and it is easy enough to use, though the camera lense position is a little strange at first.
My main gripe is the poor quality speaker, it's just too low.
I owned a nokia 6600 which was also the same! Though in between these phones, I have had a 6230 with really high volume speaker.
MP3 tones play so low, it's difficult to hear them, even with slight background noise, and listening to the radio through the speaker is a joke.
It seems you need to try a Nokia symbian phone before you buy it, and it seems to be pot luck.
Don`t buy this! Get a 6670 instead.

My Nokia 6260 is very bad! I had system error problems on two phones of the similar model.
It has a tacky finish.
The Service Centres are very bad, and I had a nightmarish time getting through to the them!
It is definitely not worth the money, considering the number of times you will have to go back and forth to the service centre.

The Nokia 6260 is amazing, I must really say the phone is excellent. Only one thing I would like to add: If the options buttons were on the keypad it would be more easier to send messages. If someone has a small hand he will have a bit of a problem to move up and down to type and send msgs. But overall the phone is worth the buy. GO GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!

The Nokia 6260 is king of all smart phones and it is here with a vengeance. It is amazing because you can do such things as put symbian software and can put now gadgets on via handango.com. It has a radio mp3/4 player and you can get on the Internet with it. I would advise to get this phone simply because its one of the best top of the range mobile phones. I would simply keep forever until the battery or phone dies!!

written by CaptainConsult on 27/05/2005

The Nokia 6260 is a good looking phone in brushed and polished stainless steel effect. Clamshell design which protects the screen until needed when it can be reversed - although I can see little practical need for this other than when expecting the mother in law to phone. Incoming call ID not apparent until opening the flip. The control cursor square is very small, as is the execute button, so good fingernails are a definite must to avoid incorrect selection. Camera/video is effective but not unusually good. Have not got to grips with Bluetooth connection which seems to require selecting each time, but it could be a naff operator! All in all a good phone but heavy and not beyond criticism.

written by mikessu on 28/12/2004

Nokia 6260 - I was first going to buy 6600 but it didn't have radio so I decided to buy 6260. It has clamshell design and Symbian operating system so it should be possible to install lots of software to it.

Screen quality of phone is very good and menu system is also easy to learn but keyboard buttons are a bit of too small for me at least but it isn't a big problem after you get used to them. The battery doesn't last very long but it loads quite fast compared to my earlier phones. Camera is nothing special and it's not much better or worse than other phones. Of course it could be better but I don't use camera for much else than taking some random photos.

6260 is a good phone but not perfect. Battery needs loading every three days if you use phone a lot, especially radio.

I (like many others here) waited eagerly for my 6260 and was so dissapointed with it.
I have had Nokia's for years and loved almost every single one of them for their ease of use, battery life etc and only changed recently to the Motorola v600.
I never, ever thought I would say this but the Motorola was easier to use!! The menu on the 6260 is user friendly if you work for Nokia - it takes an age to find the simplest of things and trying to set-up WAP/GPRS forget it!!!!

★★★☆☆

written by Akane on 29/11/2004

Bought my Nokia 6260 as a spur of the moment thing, upon using it I found the phone will not copy the sim's contact to the phone again if you choose not to when you insert a new sim card, which was a huge hassle (although you can copy one by one). And then the nevigation square button (the up/down/left/right button) will sometimes get caught inside, kind of catching onto something solid inside and will click very loud. Design flaw? Although I've plugged the headset in, I cannot get the radio and will ask me to plug the headset in. Headset only has sound coming from 1 earpiece. Very stupid design, not able to copy demo software from given RZ-MMC to the phone. No option to turn off BlueTooth by itself, really poor.

written by scallydamien on 23/11/2004

I've had the Nokia 6260 3 weeks now. Loved the look of this phone from the minute I saw it. As a big fan of clamshells and smartphones I couldn't wait to get it. Once you get home though, you get disspointed. Trying to use the keypad is very difficult. The rocker is hard to use one handed and it's too easy to hit one of the other keys by mistake. This is made worse as when you want to delete a character, you need to press 'C', It's way too easy to press the soft key above and exit. Unless you've got tiny hands (I've got small hands), expect this on a regular basis. The battery life too is a concern. The phone after two weeks has improved but for the first week of a few texts its battery life was worse than my Motorola A925 (which is touch screen 3G battery drainer) which is a big surprise for a 2.5G phone. On the plus side the phone is about for a clamshell and the keypad is big enough to easly type a text out one handed. The RS-MMC slot is accessable while the phone is switched on, but you need a nail to open it and the phone also wants to be incharge during the card changing. The main selling point of the twisting screen really aint that good. Unless your taking a pic it's useless really expect in normal clamshell mode. The camera function is supposed to automatically come on once you get the phone into line. In pratice it does it when it wants and likes to try PTT calling a lot. But because my network doesn't support it, it then bleeps loudly and makes you manual go into camera mode. The camera is a saving grace. The night mode on the camera. It's great. Compared to the Motorola camera, it's great. It's clear and when you take pics in night mode they come out brill, sometimes a bit too bright though. The screen is very clear and shows colours well. Especially compared to Motorola's.

Overall it's a flawed phone to say the least, but it does have its good points. The main reason for having this phone would be you like the twist/rotate action of the screen and you really want a series 60 clamshell. I'm keeping mine, but I wish it was better.

written by Simmo2004 on 19/10/2004

I received my Nokia 6260 today after much eager anticipation. Unfortunately on getting it out of the box, it was heavy, after charging it and trying to use it I have promptly sent it back. Sure the phone has many super features (although I didn't actually try all out) but the overall size and style I got laughed at (work and pub)! I was replacing my 6600 which is also rather large but it is also very well built compared to the 6260. I think the 6260 twistable head will last about 3 months before breaking.

Also to manouver round the menus the awful touch pad thing just doesn't suit mens thumbs.

Overall I would not recommend this phone at all, I have actually swapped it for the V3 razr so am praying that actually lives up to its hype.

If anyone has any questions on my review or the phone please feel free to contact me on [email protected] or post a comment here, I have a lot of experience with phones and feel my review is totally justified.

Nokia 6260 - The 6260 is Nokia's very first clamshell smartphone, and one with a swivel display at that. Rather large and unwieldy, much like Sony Ericsson's Z1010, the 6260 lets users configure its display into one of three modes: conventional open, camcorder style and tablet style.

Thanx Sunny
