“Brilliant!!”

★★★★★

written by on 04/08/2011

Booked through Low Cost Holidays, absoloutely problem free. I hadn't a clue what to expect when arrived but the hotel was brilliant, staff are all extremely helpful at reception and the bar staff are just lovely!! I would deffinately reccommend the All Inclusive option, food was brill although wasn't a huge fan of the breakfast!! Had the time of my life with no problems with the booking what so ever, just the holiday i needed!! :) I will be returning next year!!

“My wife & I originally booked to stay at the nearby...”

★★★★☆

written by Jedd on 27/10/2007

My wife & I originally booked to stay at the nearby Hawaii Hotel on a half board basis only to be told when we arrived that hotel at 2.30 in the morning was overbooked & arrangements were made for us to stay at Mar Amantis instead, & in a way of compensation our booking was upgraded to all inclusive. The upgrade cheered us both up & saved us literary hundreds of Euros that we otherwise would have spent on our food & drinks!
Our room was average but clean enough & the bed linen smelt really fresh. Air con, room service & satellite TV were also included free of charge! The maids would always greet you & worked hard, they would change the bed linen & towels everyday unless you asked them not to. But we did find a massive cockroach in the bath on the third day & took a picture of it.
The only downfall of the rooms are the very cheap & inferior partitioning walls, & from further inspection it seemed like there is only 2 pieces of plasterboard that separates each room. You can hear next doors conversations &.... erm...activities... as clear as if they were in the same room!!

The receptionists was very helpful. They always smiled & spoke really good English.

Very generous measures of spirits were poured in the bar area, they were entertaining, good at their job & worked solidly from approx 10 am till 12pm! 10 out of 10 for the bar staff. We made some great friends in the bar area.

We were also extremely impressed by the vast amount of choice & quality of the food at breakfast, lunch, & evening meals, I would say that the food was near 4 star quality as it always looked well garnished & tasted fantastic! The puddings were a little disappointing though.
The Spanish barmaid in the restaurant area was arrogant, rude & very slow to serve customers.

The 3 swimming pools looked clean & there were plenty of sun beds to go round without having to reserve your bed early in the morning with a towel. Sometimes the previous days ashtrays, leftover drinks & food by the pool are were not cleaned away until late morning, but it got done in the end.

They was a massive influx of Spanish over 60's pensioners also staying at the hotel, during our stay, & in some other reviews I have read regarding this hotel, that they seemed to get preferential service at the bar area with bottles of beer, glasses & proper cups for their coffee instead of our disposable plastic cups for any drinks we asked for. This is because they had to pay for their drinks & we didn't. We did not have a problem with this, but I must admit that the majority of the Spanish residents at the hotel came across as very rude & arrogant, & felt that we were 2nd class citizens! The British holidaymakers at this hotel definitely had more manners & respect.

A half hour walk along the bay took you to San Antonio town which was beautiful with lots of palm trees & smart bay packed full of different sized boats, however, over half the shops were shut as it was nearly the end of the holiday season.
Alternatively, on sunny days only, a taxi ferry boat would arrive every half hour directly at Mar Amantis, & for only 2 Euros each it would take you across the water to San Antonio. We used this & it was well worth 2 Euros.

Lastly, I cannot end this review without mentioning the "Entertainment" rep.
I have been & stayed at numerous holiday resort complexes in the UK & overseas over many years as a professional DJ Entertainer, & in my opinion the entertainment here was the worst I have ever come across. He did absolutely nothing to keep anyone entertained when the weather was bad for almost 2 days. There were lots of kids there as it was the half term holidays for most families & the kids should have been his number 1 priority but they were very bored & so were the rest of us!

If it wasn't for the poor quality of entertainment, & the rude Spanish pensioners connected with this hotel, the Mar Amantis would have got 10/10.

We hope this review will be of some use to anyone who is thinking of staying here in the future.

“Mar Amantis in Ibiza is the worst all inclusive hotel...”

★★☆☆☆

written by jelly06 on 16/08/2006

Mar Amantis in Ibiza is the worst all inclusive hotel I have ever stayed in. We hardly ever ate in the hotel most days. We would go to the Yorkshire Man bar up the road for a decent fry up for 4.50 Euros, and for tea we went to Jacky Browns. I had two necklaces go missing, and other friends had ear rings, 50 euros, bra's and clothing. The reception staff wouldn't order taxi's so we had to wait outside until we could get one. The queues at the bar were massive, and then you got tiny drinks and had to go back 5 minutes later! There was a nice man on reception though, who would give us free water when we got back at 5am. Good location, and not far from San Antonio and the beautiful Cala Bassa beach.

I stayed at the Hotel Bergantine (just up the road) 2 years ago, and it was 100 times better.

“The Mar Amantis is well based for the beach location...”

★★★★★

written by Poole on 07/10/2005

The Mar Amantis is well based for the beach location and boat trips. On the whole as a family we had a great holiday the only drawback was the room was too small for two adults and two children. The entertainment wasn't brilliant but we didn't go on holiday for that but the kids did enjoy some of the pm entertainment. The staff did try hard and I did have a go at the daytime water aerobics.

San Antonio was easy to get to boat trip outside Mar Amantis II about 2 euros each and also Glass bottom boat trips went from here (well worth it).

San Antonio Bay, Mar Amantis - Food under cooked at the snack bar, staff not friendly, treated like they were giving you something for nothing when I had already paid for all inclusive!!!!

“The Mar Amantis, San Antonio Bay, Ibiza HOTEL FOOD -...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Dean192 on 12/06/2004

The Mar Amantis, San Antonio Bay, Ibiza HOTEL FOOD - Very poor

If you like chips every day you will be OK
The daytime snack Menu (only served at the Mar Amantis II, consisted of:-
1. Hamburger with choice of Egg/Bacon/Cheese
(note not possible to have these together on one due to management Regulations!!!!!
2. Hotdog with Onions
3. Ham/Cheese toastie
4. Chicken Nuggets
5. Chips (again)

The daytime Main Menu (only served at the Mar Amantis I, consisted of:-
Various dishes each day, served with chips including a soup of the day(dishwater)

Once a week(sunday) the restaurant gets in a descent chef to cook a few Roast Joint's which made for a pleasant surprise!!!

There was also desserts served which consisted of a basic spongecake with a different flavoured sauce each day, along with the grand choice of Fruit ie Apples/Pears/Oranges

Small Ice creams also available were Vanilla/Chocolate or Strawberry
These you could only have in two's at a time, due to management Regulations!!!!!

HOTEL DRINK - Poor
The ALL-INCLUSIVE drinks were always served in very small glasses, due to management Regulations!!!!! So we had to constantly walk from pool to bar most of the day if the kids were thirsty!

This also caused problems at night when we wanted to sit down and watch the 1 hour of entertainment we were allowed, every night

NOTE: ALL-INCLUSIVE drinks stop at 11:00PM on the dot, sometimes earlier, so don't get caught out !! due to management Regulations!!!!!

HOTEL STAFF - poor
Smiles were few and far between, there being only 1 member of staff who was willing to talk!
The other members treated ALL-INCLUSIVE guest like second class citizens, due to other Half board guests giving tips at the bar etc.

There was no waiter service available for ALL-INCLUSIVE guest's

HOTEL ENTERTAINMENT - Average but not enough of it,
i.e. stated at 9 or 10pm finished at 11:30pm

This consisted of 4 Professional Shows per week, and also 3 shows per week performed by the Hotels own entertainment team( the entertainment team were very limited to resources, due to management Regulations!!!!! But there effort was second to none)

3 of the 4 professional shows were great and well worth watching i.e.: Magic Show/Lilly Savage Impersonator/Flamenco Show

The only show to miss is the JESUS show, i.e. some Guy called Jesus on his Organ playing a sad and outdated playlist of music whilst also trying to be funny by making silly faces at people,(got to be seen to be believed how bad this guy is!!!).

HOTEL LOCATION
Mar AMantis I - On the beach (a hard strip of sand used for parking cars) 2 minutes walk though to small beaches either side of hotel, also infront of hotel is the 5-10 minute ferry to San Antonio, it is about a 20-25 minute walk around the bay to Centre of San Antonio

Mar Amantis II - Across the busy main road from Mar Amantis I, be careful when crossing this road due to Fast Spanish Drivers even when you are on the Zebra crossing as they do not stop !!!

There are a few bars where you can take the kids at night where there is amusements for them and also trampolines

"The Yorkshire Man Cafe" down the road serves a good English with "English bacon & Sausage"

HOTEL FACILITIES
The Pool bar for Amantis II is only open peak season i.e.: July & August, due to management Regulations!!!!! this caused problems throughout the day with the kids !!

Amantis II pool is great for the kids with its built in small water slides, except a little cold with lack of pool heating, due to management Regulations!!!!!

The Gym is basic but clean with new equipment

HOTEL ROOMS - Good
Rooms cleaned everyday, and not too small with a good balcony, woken at 3:30 everyday due to noisy bin men, so try to get the main entrance side of the hotel if you can

RESORT FACILITIES/ENTERTAINMENT
Went on the "Little Train" from San Antonio, this consisted of a mad chap driving us up the Spanish country side for 2 hours to his brothers bar, then all the way back (not forgetting the sights of 3 Lemon Trees and some wheat fields)to San Antonio, if you like being ripped off I guess its perfect!

Swings and slides in centre of San Antonio, Be careful as these are not well maintained!

Hope this gives you a good impression of the Hotel !! as we not planning on going back as we think there are friendlier and better hotels for families elsewhere!!
