“Although reasonably nippy, spacious and comfortable,...”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 12/08/2010

Although reasonably nippy, spacious and comfortable, beware any poor sod who is thinking of buying one. The 1.7 Vauxhall diesel engine is a horrible, noisy piece of junk that sounds like it belongs in a clapped-out Polish tractor. I am still waiting for Vauxhall to do a "Field Remedy" repair on the faulty turbo actuator rod . In plain English, this means that they know it is a bad design, and haven`t got, made or even designed the parts needed to rectify the issue). At the moment and for the foreseeable future, with a tail-wind I can do about 60 going downhill. A total pile of *@?*^ !

THIS CAR HAS BEEN MY WORST NIGHTMARE!! 13 YR OLD PEUGEOT WAS SO MORE RELIABLE...
A MONTH OUT OF WARRANTY MY TURBO WENT TOOK CAR INTO A DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS AND THEY BLEW UP THE ENGINE, DOWN TO ADMITTED NEGLIGENCE!!!!THEY REPLACED ENGINE, TURBO 3 TIMES, CLUTCH, FLYWHEEL, BOOST PRESSURE SENSOR, STARTER MOTOR AND A FEW MINOR THINGS.. LOL IN THREE MONTHS I HAD TO RETURN IT 6 TIMES DUE TO ISSUES STILL NOT RESOLVED DOWN TO SUBSTANDARD WORK...

NOW ALTERNATOR HAS GONE AND ONLY HAD CAR BACK FOR A WEEK AND A HALF IN THREE AND A HALF MONTHS.... HAD TO PAY A PERCENTAGE TOWARDS TURBO AND ALTERNATOR THAT CAME TO NEARLY £800(VX GOODWILL PAYMENT COVERED SOME)

DISGRACEFUL SERVICE, STILL DONT THINK IT IS RIGHT AND I AM GOING TO GET A INDEPENDANT ENGINEERS REPORT

Might buy a 1.7 cdti Astra van either 59 plate or 60 plate ex BT. Should be well looked after for about £5000. Should I buy one or go for the 1.9 instead? What should I look for if I view it? Thanks

Recently used vegetable oil in my Vauxhall Combo 1.7 van which is fine when left to tick over but when the engine is revved smoke is coming from the exhaust. Is this normal?
