“red masterdard promotion is a scam”

★☆☆☆☆

written by zbKehoe156 on 24/05/2015

hsbc philippines: I was approved for hsbc red mastercard last march 9 2015 and they say if you get approved by feb- may 2015, you'll get a shoes of your choice. I received my card last 03/15/2015 and it doesn't include any voucher for me to claim the said "free shoes" worth Php 2500+ something. I called customer service about it once a week for follow up and up to now 05/24/2015 no voucher. I have used the card but will stop using it because I felt like I was just deceived by them. I will never recommend your card nor wil use it again.

“Stay away from them”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Crossrh489 on 04/09/2014

This is one of the worst cards I have ever had. Every time I travel I notify them of the dates & cities I'm traveling too so they are aware. Each & every time my cards gets blocked, repeatedly. Calling them and sorting this out I now have to incur intl charges and get passed around internally 4-5 times even though you're calling the number at the back of the card. Then you get an idiot from India that you can't even understand. Their security questions they use to verify who you are even worse : when did you open this account with us? How the hell would I know that? I'm not married to them. When they got bought out by Capital One, I was licked out for months trying to my online account. Had to go back & forth with them over several weeks to get that sorted. Now everything I use the card, it gets locked for whatever reason that meets that criteria. Just about every charge I make results in the account being locked. It's just ridiculous.

“Reward points don't pay out like they used to”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 19/02/2014

Cash back rewards and customer service used to be good 3 years ago. Things have change for the company. I used to get my cash back rewards within a week or two. Now they say 10 weeks and still haven't pay out. It's almost 3 months now and they have to track something that was not done. I think they don't want to pay out. I have stop using the card since they don't paying out the rewards like they used to. I would suggest people will do the same until they payout like they promise.

“WORST BANK EVER”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Respecteveryone on 22/11/2013

After HSBC cancelling online access at hsbccreditcard.com, I have spent hours (6 different calls, 25 - 70 minutes each call)trying to get online access through their new website. Each time they promise to send new passwords via mail which have never arrived. On top of that, there was several fraud charges on the account that HSBC caught, cancelled the card and issued a new replacement card. Seems like a good system, until the fraud charges were transferred to the new card, and months later the fraud charges are still on the account and HSBC is charging interest on those charges. Good luck getting Customer Service to help, after all their scripted reply's, they promise to have their supervisor call me back to correct the problems...I've never had anyone call me back. I have since cut up the card, closed all my HSBC accounts, and still trying to get HSBC to reverse the fraudulent charges and interest. DO NOT do business with HSBC credit cards services!

“Just managed to get worse - online payments”

★☆☆☆☆

written by alfonsol on 20/09/2013

Unbelievably bad card, gets blocked all the time, when you cancel it it can take weeks to get a new one, and the customer service people are incredibly polite in a wooden, reading from a script in India sort of way, but unbelievably unhelpful. They just upped the ante by sunsetting their old website, hsbccreditcard.com, and forcing you to use their primitive banking website, us.hsbc.com. If you had an old checking account at HSBC, you can add the account to that website, but unfortunately, you are stuck, because you can't make payments via web access unless you have a checking account with them... The information on the credit card on us.hsbc.com gives you just your balance and account number, and a few transactions, and nothing else. When you call, they suggest you pay via check or call in every month to make a payment. SERIOUSLY? Is this 1998? So, I will go ahead and put $2 on the card every month, and switch back to paper statements. I will cost them as much money as I can for as long as I can.

“Very terrible customer service loyal customer no more”

★☆☆☆☆

written by rustic417 on 24/04/2013

The customer service is overseas so hard to understand when you get someone in the states they must be under paid because they were very rude. when asked to speak to a supervisor got voice mail and never got a response. sent an email and got a generic letter saying they strive to have great service nothing about my situation. have been a loyal customer for a very long time fed up and cancelled my account. and by the way if you make a payment they can hold it for several weeks even though it clears your bank within a couple days. too many other cards out there to put up with this type of service.

“HSBC bank is not responsive to my dispute”

★☆☆☆☆

written by sopen on 19/01/2013

My bank HSBC is not responsive to my dispute. What can a consumer do? Please help. On Nov. 9,2012 while I was on a Mediterranean cruise I set out to buy a carpet of 5 feet by 7 feet and clearly told the merchant in Turkey. The merchant represented to me that the carpet I like was 5 feet by 7 feet and cost US$1,700. I bought it with my HSBC Mastercard and while I was signing the paper work the carpet was packed. Two days later, I open the package to look at the carpet and I realized that the carpet was not the size represented. It looked smaller. It was clear that the carpet was not 7 feet long. As soon as I landed in Malta I located HSBC branch and called to initiate a dispute. However, I was unable to contact the merchant directly. I requested help from Celebrity tour director. Celebrity Cruises which has an ongoing business relationship with that merchant contacted the merchant on my behalf. The contract I signed was modified. The merchant agreed to refund my purchase price of US$1,700 as soon as the carpet was returned. On December 10, 2012 Celebrity emailed me confirmation that the carpet was delivered. At this time the merchant has the carpet and has not refunded my account. HSBC has not done its duty to investigate and insist that I pay for the merchandise which I do not possess. This transaction was fraudulent from the beginning. [FORMGEN]

“Allegation of LATE PAYMENT for their late courier delivery”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 17/01/2013

would like to share with you my disappointments about the service of HSBC... beware on their " late deliveries" of billings, that it might be loaded on you as your shortcomings. This is to express my disappointment on your service with regards to your allegation on my account as LATE payee. These happens twice and i am now sending this to your management about your inaccurate findings on the loophole about your LATE COURIER in sending the bill. Last January 3, 2013, about 7 pm, i found a bill on our "OPEN" mail pocket located at our ground floor and i hurriedly found that it is a late serving or delivery of your bill which happens to have a due on DECEMBER 26, 2012! So i called up your credit dept and informed about it. Actually, this was not the FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED BUT ALMOST ON THE 3RD TIME!!! There were recorded conversation on your system and it is yours to find out. The next day, i paid the balance right away. But i am expecting a FAIR JUDGEMENT on this that i should not be LIABLE ON THE LATE PAYMENT CHARGE that would bestowed on me!!! I HAVE A 2 ACCOUNTS ON YOU AND NEVER I HAD A LATE PAYMENTS!!! What i am after is to have a FAIR play on this. Why should i have to pay for something that IS NOT MY FAULT AT ALL? I TALKED TO OUR GUARD NOT TO TOLERATE THE ENTRANCE OF YOUR COURIER ANYMORE BECAUSE HE IS NOT HONEST IN HIS REPORTS ON YOU. I HOPE YOU COULD FURTHER INVESTIGATE AGAIN ABOUT YOUR TRANSMITTAL SYSTEM. I AM NOT USING YOUR CARD ANYMORE BECAUSE I AM TOTALLY IRKED AND RANTING AS OF THIS TIME. I AM DECIDED TO AIR THIS OUT IN ANY FORM JUST TO GET THE TRUTH. WHY DO YOU HAVE TO PASS THE FAULT OF YOUR COURIER TO YOUR CLIENTS??? Or are you after the charges too? I am decided to cut and never use your credit card anymore!!! Add a comment...

“High Interest, Low Customer Service ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 21/11/2012

I am a HSBC Credit Card holder for almost (1) one year and 8 months. During my first year in using the card I can pay the dues on time in full but there was a transaction credited to my account ( a purchased I did not know ) in which I did not recognize. The said transaction is a purchase of grocery item and dining fee indicated on my bill. Upon checking my statement of account I immediately call the customer care hotline to inquire about it and surprisingly all they can say is they will check it first and will get back to me when they find out the reason why there is a transaction like that. It took almost 45 minutes to report to them the said incident for they are asking almost all information about me. Here we are, I have made follow up one week after I phone them and oh,,,, they say they cannot track the transaction?????? what kind of system they have??????????? I am really disappointed, by then I did not paid them till now......

“YOUR SECURITY WILL BE COMPROMISED”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MELI on 16/10/2012

HSBC is the credit provider for CAPITOL ONE AND ORCHARD BANK. In August we had an unauthorized charge with Capitol One( which is one of HSBC'S) ; which they took care of within 1 hr and my account was cleared. 3 months later Orchard Bank ( also another of HSBC'S) another unauthorized charge, but hey it gets even better... it was both online purchase and through Walmart.com; now you may say it's walmarts fault BUT understand it was credit on our name through 2 different credit card company's but same credit provider that's on the line here!!!!! This tells me somewhere in HSBC'S system our personal information has been compromised. You might be next!...

“After 8 years, they were ridiculous”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 26/09/2012

8 years since I have had a credit card with them. Hundreds of transactions. All well until for the first time, I was unhappy with a digital download I had bought for about 20 quid, an audiobook advertised as 14 hours. It was 9 hours long. I complained to the seller, no response. I started a chargeback with the credit card issuer, sent them all the online receipts, instructions as to how to view the product, the sales page. HSBC 's response was incredibly unhelpful, they never complained to the seller, and they made it so hard that I just thought, sod it HSBC, I have better things to do. 8 years with them. Hundreds of transactions. My first chargeback ever, and it was like talking to walls. I will ditch them as soon as I will have the opportunity. Now I know how bad they are. Imagine if instead of 20 quid would have been 3000. HSBC is worse than bad

“Just a machine”

★☆☆☆☆

written by joemerchant on 18/09/2012

HSBC does a terrible job at identifying risk or customer service. I had a card with them for 4 years with never a single late payment in that time. I maintain a high 700 credit rating. I pay via my banks bill pay and never had a problem until HSBC changed my due date and thus caused two payments in one cycle and the other cycle listed as late. Not only did they stick a late charge, they reduced my credit from 12,000 to $405 (which was the current balance on the account). I phoned them and customer service pretty much said they could not do anything. I paid my balance that day (including the late fee) called them up a few days later afer it posted and asked to cancel the card. Unlike most banks who send you to someone else to save the business, they proceded to just cancel it and treat me like a deadbeat. I am a professional who makes well over 6 figures and pays his bills. If they treat me that way, I can imagine how they treat younger folks who are getting started in their credit or hit a rough patch along the way. If you are someone like me who qualifies for the best rates and cards out there, avoid these guys like the plauge unless you want to be treated like this.

“What a hassle... HSBC not worth anything they offer”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 30/07/2012

Have had my card for many years and initially had no problems... I pay my bill off every month in amounts ranging from $100 to $5,000 so didn't care that the interest rate was high after the initial teaser. Then they started declining when we made purchases out of state... try explaining to someone who barely speaks English you are on vacation and would like to still use your card. I regularly make on-line purchases from another country, just one site. They consistently declined this even when I called and warned them it was coming. Try talking to a real person... it will take 20 minutes and then they will transfer you somewhere and you will be lost. I kept the card because had nearly 70,000 points and was aiming for flights for two to paradise. I had been getting obnoxious sales calls from "credit card services" offering to lower my interest rates for a charge... had no idea how they got my cell number and why they ignored my no contact listing and were calling 5-10 times a month. When I changed my number the calls stopped and started again only after I changed my HSBC contact info. I called and asked if they could lower my interest rate just so the calls would stop... sorry mam, 24% is the best we can do for you. I have immaculate credit. So I decided it was time to get out of this card... web site to get rewards was down for over 2 weeks... spent nearly an hour several times trying to get to the rewards department... no luck... just repeatedly shuffled from wrong person to wrong person. So finally its up and I try to get tickets. Very limited expensive flights available and a $50 per flight charge for using points to buy tickets. Yeah so I end up with gift cards to Home Depot. So sorry I endured the hassle... wasn't worth it.

“Horribly slow and poor customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by seanpham on 29/06/2012

I am applying for a Platinum Qantas HSBC visa card. For a premium of 199$ pa, I thought the service would be more "prioritized" than if I am applying for another low fee card. However, I was wrong. For the same amount of time, I had my other bank card approved. And for that amount of time with many phone calls to HSBC and lots of frustration to explain again and again and again to many different operators, nothing has been solved. All communication with this bank is still via "letter" which dated 7 days older than the postage (on 28/6, received a letter dated on 22/6). Every step took 24-48 hours MINIMUM and literally after WEEKS, nothing has been solved. If you wish to "buy" frustration and anger, then go ahead and apply for this card. From this moment on, I will not deal with HSBC and will not recommend this BANK to anyone. Please...

“worst service ever”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 09/05/2012

I ran into trouble paying bills and fell a few months behind. I got a job and called them and they asked me to schedule 3 automatic payments over the next three months to get caught up, which I did. The didn't specify that these were additional payments to go with the regular ones, and it made no difference to them when I did get caught up, they still kept my card in suspension, so the automatic payments were for their convenience only. I did everything they asked and then they left me hanging. Also, the online account overview never indicated that they suspended my account. It showed on the actual statement but who cares? Why would I look at the statement when I haven't used the card in over a year, just made payments. The showed recent payments an available balance so I went to use the card and it didn't work! Never use this card or this bank.

“Have no idea what they are doing!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by nrainier on 09/05/2012

I have a motorcycle financed through this company. I moved out of state and needed to re-register my vehicle. I visited the local DMV who requested the lien holder fax a form to DMV showing proof of lien and ownership. This is how many times I have contacted HSBC and problem still not resolved and now previous state is sending me to collections because I cannot resolved issue: 1) On phone 45min+ request proof needs to be sent to me. Take 20 minutes to explain I do not need title, as I know I am not deserving of title as bike is not paid off. Once the idiot supervisor understands what I need, states one will be mailed to me. 2) 45 days later I call to inquire about where said proof is. The next supervisor informs me they cannot send me this form directly but can be directly mailed to DMV. Address for local DMV provided, only after again taking 20 minutes to explain I am not requesting title but proof of lien and my info. 3) 45 days later contact DMV. DMV does not form. Again call HSBC to inquire about where the form is...new supervisor says they cannot mail form that DMV must request it. So here is where I am...4 months later, still no registered bike, no closer to getting the real answer how to solve this problem. And every new supervisor I talk to simply says..."I am sorry Ma'am I know how frustrating this must be." BY FAR THE WORST CREDIT COMPANY EVER!!!! As soon as I can move loan over to somebody else I will...but then again this will take proof that a loan is even out there in my name. GRRRR!!!!!!!!

“I cut the card and divorsed Best Buy too”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 08/05/2012

I read the brochure the of my purchase and when the first bill came in the mail. They stated the grace period. I set up to have my bank pay them close to their due date and well within the grace period I read on the brochure. Each month, they billed me an added 25.00 late charge and .12 interest. They told me I have some type of account with them that has no grace period; a first in my 56 years of life. No matter what they say, this is nothing short of stealing from me. I've cut the card, thrown the bits in the trash and will never buy anything from Best Buy, because they talked me into this stupid predatory lender. I knew I should have told that clerk no and used my friendly credit card! Save your self. Don't use this bank. Don't use Best Buy.
