“Handled my claim well”

★★★★☆

written by on 20/07/2012

I don't have a problem with Priviledge, I caused an accident, my car was written of and I received a quote for the car I didn't accepted at first. The second quote then was much more acceptable and good for the type of car I had. My car was picked up and I received the cheque quickly. I now changed ensurers because they won't cover a mileage of over 25000 a year but I would have stayed otherwise.

After reading the other reviews, I wondered if I was reading about the same insurance company.

This is my 3rd renewal - each at better rates than their auto-renewal price by 'tweaking' the policy to what I really required.

Other internet quotes are no-where near the initial quote provided when you actually go to take out the policy and are loaded with 'dubious' extra's.

Their telephone support staff are helpfull and friendly - so I'm privileged to stay with Privilege Insurance.

I would recommend Privilege car insurance. Quick and easy to set up. Best price I could find, and £300 cheaper than the next best. Very easy and quick to change details, get new certificate and free to cover courtesy cars etc.

“My car was next to my neighbours which was set alight....”

★★★★★

written by bottletree on 22/07/2006

My car was next to my neighbours which was set alight. I damaged the side panels and the front bumper getting my car out of the situation.
I rang Privilege car insurance the following day on Monday morning. I got straight through to customer services. I gave them all the relevant details, police crime number and my neighbours insurance details blah blah.
They put me in touch with Gilders of Sheffield, and I had my car repaired to a very high standard. It took 7 days to repair, and the car was cleaned inside and out.

I asked Privilege if I would lose all my no claims. They told me I would lose 2 years. That leaves me with 7 years no claims come renewal time next April.

During all the contacts I had with Privilege, I got through to their customer services straight away, every time. They were very professional and courteous throughout.

With Quality like I had, I will be with this insurance company for a while yet.

Thanks Privilege.

Wrong my friend. I got insurance quote from privilege at the end of March. They took just 2 years away from my no claims.
<br/> The quote was £4 more than last year.

I had an accident last August, and I rang Privilege Car Insurance on Saturday morning. The call centre was OK. My car was taken for repair on the Wednesday. I had a good quality courtesy car. The repair was fine and done on time. Excellent service. The renewal is still the cheapest I can find.

I have just changed my car and have been charged £151 by Privilege to amend my policy with the registration number and details. Why is this so expensive?

My son was in an accident which we thought was a 50/50 claim on a country lane. However, our Privilege car insurance company have decided it was our sons fault and will not fight our case. Is there anything we can do to contest their decision?

Thanks for answering this question.

I had a nightmare with Privilege myself. They are a disgraceful company. 50/50 is industry norm if both parties fail to agree. Unless there was an independent witness whose statement confirms what the other party claims, this is the likely outcome. Remember that neither party can use the witness statements from passengers, as they are directly involved. If there are no independent witnesses, Privilege are just attempting to bully you into conceding. Don't. I trust that you have legal protection with your insurance? Assert to your legal representation that this is a straightforward 50/50 and maintain this. If you have none, it is possible to do this yourself. Be prepared to go to court with this. Although this is hugely unlikely to happen. Mine was settled in full before it reached this stage. I felt like giving up many times. It is the claim handlers' role to minimalise the pay out their company is forced to make. Do NOT. There is a lot more at stake here than just an excess. No claims bonus and future increased policy amounts. Good luck. As I said, don't allow this horrible company to bully you into accepting what they consider to be reasonable.
