I Was Warey Of Getting This Kiss Dp-500 Dvd Player

I was warey of getting this Kiss DP-500 DVD Player ... it sounded too good to be true. The price seemed too good also.

I got mine a few days ago, a DP-500. It took very little time to have it up and playing DivX across my home network, right out of the box.

The only dissappointment I encountered was that I couldn't seem to be able to play mpeg1 files accross the network. I did put one in the cd and it played perfectly.

A couple of days later I upgraded the firmware and downloaded the latest pc-link software, and to my surprise, I could now play mpeg1 accross the network! What a player!

The reason that I bought this player was that I wanted to convert all my purchased DVD's to DivX and store the DVD's away, clearing up much shelf space. I have 150 DVD's, which take up considerable space.

Other than some minor asthetic issues, this is the best money I've spent in some time. It works perfectly.

I have a 2GIG P4, with 500 Gigs of disk space, that I do the DivX conversion and also serve up all the movies through pc-link.

I can convert a movie while playing a movie on the player, over the network, and the movie plays perfectly while the conversion doesn't seeem to be impacted by the disk accesses made by pc-link to play the movie.

As a matter of fact, the network traffic seems very minimal while playing a movie over the network.

I really can't find any reason not to buy this great device. I plan to buy more for a few of my close relatives. At $300, it is a great buy.

I design microprocessor devices myself and I'm somewhat envious of how good this player functions. It does exactly what it says it can.

Also the playback of mpeg1 files is as good as I've seen, and I buy a lot of hi-tech gadgets.

I've just ordered a Plextor USB 2.0 DivX capture box to convert my purchased VHS tapes to DivX and I can't wait for the day when I can store them all somewhere, out of sight, and only have the DP-500 and my TV, along with a PC, to replace them with.

I'll just say it one more time, this player is fantastic!
