“park in poor condition”

★★☆☆☆

written by robin126 on 01/04/2018

been going here for 3 years, the first year we didn't get into the van until 5.20pm the boiler was broke, also maintenance turned up to change our carpet, sat down to eat at 8.30pm .the 2nd year the boiler broke again had no hot water for 2 days, they gave us keys to another van so we could shower etc, that van had the water disconnected so couldn't use it,the next day they moved us into a chalet that was, dirty, mouldy and in poor condition, complained many times manager was very nice but close to useless ,they gave me a free upgrade for this year into a trelan caravan, that had changed before our arrival and they gave us a rio caravan,it was clean and tidy but not what we were expecting, will not be going back to this park .also there is no where to park if it rains heavily as the grass has no drainage and becomes very bogey

“POOR VALUE!”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 19/06/2011

I booked a caravan for myself, partner, daughter, son-in-law, son and my two small grandchildren for last week. I paid almost £500 including insurance to stay in a Penzance caravan. Me and my partner could not get down until Sunday and my daughter and the rest of the family arrived on the Saturday. The caravan had not been cleaned - the place stank of smoke (still on the sunday when we arrived) the furnishing was ripped, windows were filthy and mouldy, the toilet and sinks had not been cleaned nor the floors and a lot of the furnishing was broke! I went to reception on the sunday and was told the housekeeping manager would come to inspect the property. She arrived when I was out and my daughter showed her the state of the caravan - she didn't seem that bothered and just replaced a table which my grandson had hurt himself on. I have been saving for almost a year for this holiday and expected a clean caravan at least. The actual site itself wasn't to bad it was just the fact that we had expected a nice clean caravan to live in for a week - not much to ask is it?! - I could have rented a lovely cottage for the same price!!

We booked up to go to this holiday park on one of the sun holidays so we werent expecting any amazing. When we arrived we found the recepsionists very helpful they gave us a guide and leaflets on things to do in the area.
The caravans are arrange in a stupid order which means finding it takes about 15mins. Once found first impressions werent good we opened the door and were hit with the stale smell of smoke there was mud all over the carpet which clearly hadnt been cleaned in ages. The rooms were so small i couldnt even get though the doors and the beds were designed for midgets.
There was mould around all the windows, sinks and toilet which is easily fixed but clearly hadnt been done. We decided to go and complain to see what they could do however when we arrived at the reception we found another 6 people doing the same thing. They would change us to another caravan but offered us an upgrade which was and extra £50! Considering the state of current caravan we were told we had no other choice! SO we were moved to a brand new caravan which was excellent and we had no complaiants about.

“We've just got back after spending four nights five...”

We've just got back after spending four nights five days on this site with a 6 and 5 year old.

The Park is in need of a referb. Our first allocated accommodation was a very old chalet with stained and faded furniture and a smell you would expect from an old peoples home. The staff were brilliant and did change our accommodation to what can only be described as the smallest caravan in existence! The bathroom smelt terrible of mould and upon further inspection mould was growing everywhere we found it on the curtains light switch cords and the bottom of the wardrobe.

The children's playground earned the nickname of splinter central. Very worn out and in some parts dangerous. The swimming pool was freezing with very little to do other than swim. The maxim depth is 1.2m.

The onsite restaurant is terrible, sticky tables, microwaved processed and vacuumed packed food and very overpriced.

The best thing going for the park are the wonderful staff and the more than reasonable grocery shop. The location was ideal, the park set up good but in all honestly I wouldn't recommend it unless you've got a car and just need a base to sleep.

“We are seasoned campers and caravanners so are by no...”

written by on 12/08/2009

We are seasoned campers and caravanners so are by no means posh and don't mind slumming it but have just returned from a week at Parkdean, Mullion,The Lizard and were pretty disappointed.
We arrived early and had to wait for our accommodation to be ready. This gave us plenty of time to look around the site. The caravans looked Ok but basic the site was untidy, rubbish bins overflowed and there seemed to be loads of maintenance going on (surely that should all be done before the peak season). The grass around caravans was long (or mud - but the weather is no-ones fault).
There seems to be large numbers of feral kids wandering around and mothers shouting and swearing at their little darlings. The kids play area looked really tired and the hire bikes looked like death traps.
Luckily, we'd booked one of the newer, larger vans that was in a quiet cul-de-sac at the back of the park - that was a real result - my kids referred to it as a 'gated community' you know normal civilised place surrounded by slums ghettos and undesirables.
The van was fantastic - new, modern, large - didn't see any evidence that a cleaner had been in it though - looked like the last occupants had done a decent job of cleaning before they left. The fact that the van was so nice salvaged the week.
We didn't use the club, restuarant or swimming pools.
If you have multiple tattoos, loads of Elizebeth Duke jewelery, kids named after games consoles or soap stars, like bingo. Lager, vodka mixer drinks and chips then this is the place for you - sadly it wasn't for us.
I know it is politically incorrect to say this but the site will forever be dubbed Chaville by my kids ... we then went on to a fantastic site in south Devon for a week which was everything this wasn't !!!
Go to the Lizard - the areas is stunning especially if you get the weather -Kynance Cove, Gunwalloe, church and dollar cove, Praa Sands are beautiful - just seriously consider going to another site.

The Mullion Weststar Holiday Park is a good camp for a base, but the evening entertainment was very poor and offensive. Very good food in the restaurant.
