The Smugglers Inn at Bushmills is a clean, no-frills Bed & Breakfast with a wonderful view of the coast. I stayed there with my sisters for 2 nights and because the Inn wasn't fully booked they were kind enough to "upgrade" us from a double room (with an extra single bed) to a 2-room suite at no extra charge. Wonderful view of the coast and close to all the sights such as the Giant's Causeway, Bushmills Distillery and the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. A good solid and hearty breakfast and super first courses for this vegetarian's dinner (recommended: Duo of Bruschetta and the delicious Tomato-Kidneybean soup). Would also recommend the salmon.

Why cannot hoteliers be honest and say that they do not welcome "single travellers?". Although substantial supplements are paid single travellers seem always to get the "bum" rooms. In Bushmills, Giants Causeway Smugglers Inn, room twelve has a view of the roof, a few feet away, together with the fire escape and downwards to the kitchen bins. However the worst aspect is the switching on of the kitchen extractor at 0645 each morning which has the effect of having a motor cycle outside your window. 0645 may just be acceptable to business travellers during the week, but not for a holiday break! An early night is also quite impossible because of the extractor noise.

After a long drive, we arrived at the smugglers inn. The staff made us feel at home, the inn is beautifully situated at the giants causeway. Hoping to go back later in the year.

Stay at the Smugglers Inn, which is located close to the Giants Causeway in Ireland, but only if there is really nothing else available. Make sure you get the cost of your booking in writing before you go. The Causeway Hotel would have charged us £75 per night with no single supplement. I phoned to check, and they thought that what we had been charged at the Smugglers Inn was outrageous. Oh yes, and the sea view? Well it's there, my husband says - if you look in the mirror at a funny angle.

I had a first class welcome at the Giants Causeway Smugglers Inn. The rooms were clean and well presented. The bar was cosy, and the food was excellent, with a lot of local produce such as fish. It was a total pleasure to stay there.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a weekend break at the Giants Causeway Smugglers Inn in Ireland (4-6 Nov 2005). The food was fantastic, and the location is second to none. Downsides are... We booked this break a month ago, and after initially having to phone the owner due to her overpricing the break and giving no apology or reasonable explanation, we decided to give it a go as the deposit had been paid. When we arrived we were given our key to room 12. The website says all rooms have exceptional views, very true if you like staring at a fire escape for 2 days!!! Other guests we spoke to had booked 1 day previous, and been given better rooms. Obviously, the owner doesn't like to be corrected in her pricing!! As for the staff and apparent trainee hotel manager, truthfully you would expect to get better at an apparent 3 star hotel. 90% of the staff look between 14 and 16 years old, and when checking out the manager couldn't even furnish me with a proper breakdown of my bill!! On the 2nd night there the fire alarm went off at 4am!! No explanation was given by the staff, and it was left to the guests to find out if the hotel was to be evacuated or not!! Very worrying indeed - I think you'll agree. Lovely part of the world though, but check and confirm the prices first, don't accept rooms 11 or 12.

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at The Bushmills Hotel in Ireland a few years ago, and we thought it was fabulous. The food was excellent, and the staff were really friendly. They even delivered our sticky toffee pudding to bed, where we ate it in dressing gowns - what luxury! We also went round the whole coastline of Northern Ireland, and we loved Giants Causeway, and especially the Carrick A Rede rope bridge, which was very scary! The Smugglers Inn was somewhere we had looked at on the internet, so we went for a drink. It's definitely not for us, as it seemed to be full of babies and toddlers, which is not our scene, but it would suit a family I would say.

Had a most enjoyable stay at the Giants Causeway Smugglers Inn recently. The room was excellent and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The night porter in fact helped me to get drunk and miss my breakfast so no comments concerning the food I'm afraid. Had been a little concerned by the review on this site which was scathing. Needn't have worried though as the place is excellent and I would recommend it to anybody.

Bushmills - Giants Causeway Smugglers Inn - My wife and I stayed for two nights and were very impressed with the standard of accommodation. The rooms were very spacious and the service both friendly and efficient. We had booked bed and breakfast accommodation but also availed of meals in the restaurant in the evening. The food was delicious and great value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful and advised us regarding the local tourist attractions which we should visit. Their advice was spot-on and we spent a very memorable time in the area. We will definitely be back and would not consider staying anywhere else but the Smugglers Inn.

We had originally booked 2 nights at the Smugglers Inn. However, 3 hours after checking in my wife was on the telephone trying to find alternative accomadation.
The "owner" of the smugglers Inn takes poor customer serice to an absolute low. We experienced her sharp and rude tongue first hand, and as witnesses to other customers at the receiving end.
The restaurant was poorly managed with little waiting staff. Waiting 35 minutes between first and main courses is totally unacceptable - especially so when half the tables were empty.
When our main courses eventually turned up, they were wrong. Also, my wifes steak was off !!! It stank and tasted vile (the steak, not the wife).
On a darker note.
We witnessed and have evidence that the owner uses her children to help out not only behind reception, but also around and behind the bar !! The children looked to be 10 and 13 - to young under UK law to work, period. To have a 13 (ish) year old working behind a bar is illegal, disgraceful and immoral. A letter of complaint is also going to the Irish Tourist Board and the Police.
Avoid this disgraceful hotel !!!!!

Have just returned from a weekend at the smugglers inn with 8 others. this is an ideally situated hotel - close to the giants causeway, castles, carrick a rede rope bridge - and most rooms overlook the stunning Antrim coastline.

The rooms were large, with lovely large bathrooms, with tv, phone and tea coffee biscuits. Ours was a double room some of our friends who had booked double had a double plus a single bed in them.

Staff were very friendly.

The food was, well, one can only say if your on a diet dont go as the portions are enormous, beutifully presented and you cant fault it. Breakfast was buffett style - set out on a smallish table was various cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, fresh orange and cranberry juice. The waitress then came and took our order for full cooked breakfast, kippers, toast, tea or coffee - if you could stand after all that then well done. We never managed a pudding as we were so full with the evening meal but decided on the last night that a few of us would try one and well they didnt disappoint - again large in size and beautiful.

We were all so impressed with the staff, accommodation and food that we are planning a return and will be staying at the smugglers.

On the saturday evening there was traditional Irish music in the bar which was nice.
