“Mostly great yard staff ”

★★★☆☆

written by Brentonk431 on 09/05/2014

Lessons are very good and well graded for all abilities. Staff on the whole are very friendly and helpful there are always one or two in any establishment that could be better. Stables are reasonable size and the horses appear to be well looked after but I used to have a horse on working livery and was generally happy with the way he was looked after and exercised although I often thought that bedding was skimped on and put extra in myself. The fees are reasonable but got the feeling that money and the business was more important than customers. Interpersonal skills not a strong point of senior management. Overall v good.

There are some really good aspects to Ryders Farm, the own a pony days are fab, it's good that they have helpers on the weekend as i think this is the best way to learn about having your own horse, the xmas games are fun and also the fact that riders can borrow a horse for competitions. The lessons aren't great and some of the instructors like to sit on the mounting block for the whole lesson! I don't think the way of riding is very desirable but for the bare essentials they can't be faulted. I think the ponies and horses people are put on don't alays match up very well and in my time of going there i found that i rode the same horse every week, although for me this was good as i felt i was learning more about my riding rather than having to adapt to a new horse every time i went. I'll me sending my son for lessons here so he can get ready for his own pony! All in all not a bad farm.

RYDERS FARM THE BEST :| NOPES! i used to go to ryders farm an i loved it up until i got my own pony an i couldnt ride. i went there for 3 yearssss and to tell you the truth i have learnt more in the year of having my own 3 ponies i have learnt more than i ever did at ryders. yes i learnt some things but they didnt teach me the responsibility of having a horse an to be honest the horses know what their doing they have been there so long. i love everyone there like but i think that its not that good. as soon as you get your own pony you will realise that ryders farm horses are robots. my horses would never be anything like mandy or gypsy or dolly. the only horse that was a BIT mental was mathilda but the rest of them are completlyy robotic. im not telling you how to run the place but i think that you need to get some more out going horses that can teach people that not all horses are like mandy an all the others.! i do unaffiliated an affiliated dressage and show jumping and my horses would never act like a ryders farm horse :]

well im sorry to say but do u know why they act like robots? because they have to work for a living and do the same thing all the time. im sure they are like this because they dont want to be kicked or flapped about on when people are riding them. i have to also say that carry on with yur horses or ponies or what ever. just face it a riding school is not going to be perfect

I learnt to ride at ryders around 12/13 years ago and have recently gone back to having lessons there. Most of Ryders Farm staff are friendly as are the horses. You generally ride a different horse each week. You learn a lot. You can have a group lesson or a have private lesson. They have a pony club for children they have own a pony day during holidays for people to look after a horse for a day and then do a jumping in the afternoon. Indoor and outdoor arenas.

A few of the horses that were there when i learnt to ride are (apparently 3 are still there!): Dante/Dantie (the lovely palomino) Toby (amazing jumper), bracken (the old man), tom & jerry, bounty (HUGEEE like 17.2), snowlin (one of my faves gorgeous little dapple grey), smokie, Oscar (cheeky little thing), Avril, Humphrey, dolly, kylie, phantom (my fave fave fave horse haha true to his name), gypsy (skewbald), sammy, Bessie (big black hairy thing feathers on her feet), Henry and Nelly.

I rode snowlin/snowlyn back in the day and I can't believe smokie's back ^.^ i remember being the first to ride him when he was in the livery's block when he first came and i ended up coming off because his girth was too big bless! mandy and Katie-may have been there around 12 years now and george was there about 5 years ago lol so they must be getting on a bit.

Although i feel that the riding school only caters to a certain level and i wouldn't really recomend to a fairly advanced rider wanting to get the most out of a lesson, especially when there's 10/11 others on the same lesson.

I have been riding at RFEC for almost a year now. My first instructor was miserable, she kept us all doing the same thing for weeks on end when we all could do it. She put us on the same horses and never let us change around. I've been lucky now to get a new instructor who is alot more fun. Though she doesn't choose the horses we ride Ive ridden a selection or horses now. She's moved us quickly along but makes sure we're comfortable doing the things we do.

Most of the staff are friendly, but there are a couple who don't give anybody and chance and I've sometimes felt upset about how they've spoke to me.

The yard is well managed and is always clean. There are several stable hands helping around, and a pony club every Saturday.

They also do many events during the holidays which anyone can take part of

I believe Ryders Farm is a good place to have lessons, but not the best. It'd be down to luck having the instructor you wanted, and probably the horse you wanted too.

Ryders Farm Equestrian Centre Bolton is a good farm, not the best for unconfident riders.
