My wife and I recently celebrated our Pearl wedding Anniversary and chose the Millhouse Inn at Trebarwith for a number of sentimental reasons. The 3 days we were there, were excellent, good food, friendly staff and very helpful when asked for 'the little extras' we wanted. Nothing was too much trouble! We will go back again. Room 1 was warm, quiet and well appointed. Don't delay..book up today!Great 'local' atmosphere....

The Mill House Inn was really one of the best restaurants I have been to in the past year. Timing between courses was good. The staff were attentive but not overbearing and it felt very friendly. I can't praise the food enough. I had 2 courses and my partner had 3. We had half a bottle of house wine and some water. The bill came to £62!
Previous reviews may have been before the reopening but I find it hard to find anything bad to say about this restaurant. Superb.

I left feeling a bit frustrated and like we'd just had a very expensive weekend with poor value for money - frankly, it would have been cheaper if we had gone abroad. I will not be going back which is a pity as on the Web site it looked lovely. There was building work going on which we knew about in advance - so to be fair, maybe once that is completed, they might give the rest of the place a bit of an overhaul too. Certainly some more experienced staff in the restaurant would help.

I love this place - and I heard they have just started doing weddings - how fabulous! Coming from London to a place like this is a complete dream come true - it is like entering another world! Everyone is very relaxed and friendly, the atmosphere is very chilled. I would recommend a stay here to anyone who wants to get away, see some beautiful scenery and relax. A fantastic hideaway!

Poor standard of rooms, lack of menu choices generally, but especially for vegetarians, and there was no atmosphere at all at The Mill House Inn.

I've been to the beach at Trebarwith Strand a number of times and have always enjoyed sitting at the pub which overlooks the beach, bypassing The Mill House Inn (which is set further up the valley). This year I thought I'd give The Mill House a try - and what a find!
Many of the pubs in this area of Cornwall offer well cooked, fairly standard menus so it's nice to find somewhere doing something a bit different (and at prices that won't break the bank)!
I started with goat cheese tart with slow roasted tomatoes and then enjoyed a main course of Sea Bass with prawns and a mango and chilli dressing.
The prices are towards the top end of an average pubs prices (all starters £5, all main courses £11, all desserts £5) but are very reasonable considering the quality - they are also lower than those of the Port Isaac eating establishments which seem to have gone crazy (£6.50 for childs sausage and chips?)
I didn't sample the wine menu but the Shiraz (available by the glass at £3.50 for a large glass) was excellent and the St Austell ales were also fine (go for 'Eden' at 4.2%).
Especially pleasing was the positive attitude towards families - fish fingers etc are on the menu for those children who aren't perhaps as adventurous so Mum and Dad can still enjoy a nice meal out with the children.
I would advise booking as the day we called they were booked up but I was able to easily book for the following evening. the dining area is a very relaxed informal space but people are also welcome to dine in the bar area if they so choose.
Apparently the pub has been taken over this year (2003) and this explains its rebirth on the culinary scene. Highly recommended and, if you time the tides right, you can also have a walk along the fabulous Trebarwith strand beach afterwards.
