“Shocking from the start”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Crentals88 on 20/09/2023

Shocking from the start.. 1. Said its for a business then when I'm due to collect it ends up being a personal sale. 2. MIS SOLD supagaurd was told it covers stone chips which it did not. 3. Injector issue with in a couple of weeks of having the car on my way to the airport. 4. Knocking noise from the front. 5. A few weeks later injector issue again vehicle had covered less that 15,000 miles and injectors are supposed to last 100,000-150,000 miles 6. They are refusing to give me information about returning my vehicle. They have lied to me and even though I stayed polite and requested to make a complaint they cut the call off 3 times refusing to allow me to speak to the person dealing with this. 7. I've requested transcripts of all the calls which they haven't provided. 8. One advisor said he was going to speak to the manager and put me on hold for a long period of time when he came back he initially pretended he had new information. Then a few minutes in he admitted he hadn't spoke to the manager dealing with it but just his colleague so I asked why he lied about speaking to the manager he just cut the call off. 9. Found out repairs done on car by car giant but not told this at point of sale only found out afterwards. 10. Car broke down on the way to the airport they offered to pay for taxi to the airport when this happened, but made it ridiculously difficult to get the money back from them and they tried refusing saying they didn't agree to it. I said I've got emails proving you offered this and eventually after a battle got the refund. So poor communication, mis sold additional products, dodgy car, dodgy repair work carried out, refusal to refund when had the vehicle approximately 2 months broke down twice with injector issues and a knocking noise from the front which can't be investigated until injectors are sorted but I'm requested a refund. Which they are making very difficult and refusing to talk to me. Leaving me with a vehicle that would cost me over £23,000 unuseable. Absolutely disgusting customer service Everything is a battle and vehicle is dodgy. This is my experience with Car Giant I will not be buying another car from this company.

“Atrocious service, misleading adverts, broken...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by LeahFlynn on 15/07/2023

Atrocious service, misleading adverts, broken vehicle. I booked in a set time for a test drive. When I arrived the guy behind the desk was extremely rude and informed me that I was only allowed a 2 minute test drive. Gave me the keys and said someone would meet me at the car to take me on the prearranged test drive. After waiting almost 30 minutes for someone to meet me at the vehicle, I went back to the office to be told that no one was going to meet me at the vehicle and that I had to join the back of the queue for test drives, which was a 45 minute wait. When it was eventually my turn for the supposed pre booked test drive, the guy struggled to get the vehicle out of its bay. I thought he was a bad driver. Little did I know that the vehicle had MAJOR MECHANICAL ISSUES. The four wheel drive systems didn’t work as the transfer box was broken. When I got it into 2wd I was only able to drive it 5meters before the clutch completely went. They then started pressing to find out if I wanted to buy the vehicle. Why would I buy a vehicle that needed 1000’s spent on it in parts.

“Court Action Taken”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MakailaMcManus on 07/07/2023

If you are prepared to participate in a lengthy court battle? Then Car Giant is the car dealership for you! OVERVIEW: I purchased a used Peugeot RCZ Red Carbon motor vehicle from Car Giant for the sum of £12,476.92 (including fees) on 6 January 2018 with a mileage reading of 32,828. Between 11 February 2018 and 21 June 2018 the vehicle was diagnosed as having no less than four faults. The dealer repaired the first three faults (via a third party) but was unable to repair the forth fault. These four faults being; a. fault 1 – high pressure fuel pump failure b. fault 2 – clutch and dual mass flywheel failure c. fault 3 – ventilation system failure d. fault 4 – unidentifiable clunking noise Because the Dealer was unable to repair the existing fault (forth fault) I rejected the vehicle under The Consumer Rights Act 2015. At the time of my rejection the vehicle had a mileage reading of 49,416 and a market value of £10,500.00. (Final Right to Reject - Second tier remedy; after the first 28 days, but within the first six months of ownership). The Dealer had offered to repay £8,155.00 based on a deduction of use at 25 pence per mile. I contended that such a deduction was excessive and would result in a significant financial loss to me because the amount offered is much less than the market value of the vehicle being £10,500.00 at the time of rejection and as such Car Giant’s offer does not constitute as remedy for breach of contract. NOTE: There is no set principle that defines the amount of monies a dealer can deduct for ‘fair use’ but it must be reasonable. I and the Dealer then participated in an ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) Service. This ADR service did not alter the dealer’s offer, nor did I find it helpful and to be honest I found it a complete waste of time; thus I would not recommend it. Having exhausted all avenues in trying to resolve my dispute with Car Giant, I decided the only option left was to initiate court action against them. My claim was heard on 8 September 2020 before District Judge McCormack at Willesden County court. I the Claimant represented myself, and the Defendant’s representative was an employee, they did not have a Solicitor present. The Judge agreed that 25ppm was excessive and awarded me the market value of the motor vehicle based on its current mileage. I was also awarded my personal losses, plus costs, traveling expenses and my attendance allowance. Despite my request, I was not awarded interest, due to the fact that up until the hearing I still had use of the car. It is also worth noting that the Dealer tried to argue that their offer to deduct 25ppm was far less than the 45ppm HMRC mileage rate. The Judge responded by informing Car Giant that the HMRC rate was made up of a collection of elements that were non comparable, thus he rejected their argument. Good luck if you’re planning on buying your next car from these hounds!

“Worst place to buy a car”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 21/06/2023

We bought a car from Car Giant a month ago and we were sold a totally faulty car. The very day we drove away it started signalling a fault with the TPS, after several phone calls to them they agreed it had to be taken into a garage to get fixed when garages refused they then agreed to take it in themselves and fix it. In return, they gave us a disgusting and old car as a courtesy car. A week later, after our car was fixed the battery failed and the signal came up we were halfway on the motorway when we decided to turn the car back round only to have the car totally break down on a busy roundabout before we got home. We were waiting for a recovery vehicle for about 2 hours with children in the car in this humid heat and trying to stop traffic as well as being heavily pregnant. When the fault was taken to them once again their only reply was that we organise a recovery vehicle so the car can be taken to a garage to run a diagnostics. Absolutely atrocious! The car is has gone through diagnostics and there seems one too many faults now. My advice would be never buy from this place your better off going elsewhere or private as this company will take ages to reply and mechanics don't even want to take on any works that include their name. We were refused by 3 garages when they heard car giant would be sorting it out as payments are never made. They are quick to sell you whatever rubbish they have and that too at such an extortionate price compared to elsewhere and once you've purchased a car you are stuck in the game. Refund doesn't even seem to be an option they'll try to make you do all the running and wait - an answer from them takes too long. I personally have had enough and definitely won't be recommending them. We still don't know what will happen with the faulty car we purchased we are awaiting a reply that seems to be taking forever but regardless just save yourself and go elsewhere. The customer service is extremely poor especially the after sales team they all say different things on the phone and don't note it down on the system so the next person you speak to hasn't a clue what's happened and what they've agreed to.

“Unless company ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Maxwell273 on 14/06/2023

Cargiant please avoid this useless company. After spending 14 thousand on a car with multiple problems, Car giant did nothing to help resolve these issues, even though we spent a extra 1000 pounds on warranty. All the garages we saw told us that the car was sold to us with these problems but still car giant did nothing but make excuses. Hopefully this post will help others stop making the same mistake we made of going to car giant.

“Worst experience ever - avoid!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Mariex92 on 25/04/2023

I have bought a car from them and it has several issues. They didn't offer any support in investigating the issues, days after buying the vehicle. They don't check the cars at all and you can end up buying an expensive car which needs a lot of repairs which are discovered days after buying. They don't offer help and if they change parts for you, be careful!! They have changed the brake discs for me and after 2 months they were gone. Now they refuse to send me proof that what they have replaced with was actually new. Such a hussle and back and forth at the garage to pay for all the repairs for things that you discover yourself shortly after buying. Nobody is informing you if the car has issues!! Worst experience ever!

“Refusing to take back a faulty car ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MihaelaP on 24/02/2023

My husband just bought a commercial vehicle from them(a van) on Sunday . We also pay the VAT for the car as they said it has to be paid by costumer. We got approved for financing and we were happy with that. On the way home ,the car started to show on board few issues ,like “check injection and turbo boost sensor “ I called Cargiant 2nd day to tell them I would like to return the car as I was not expecting the car to have any issues being 2 years old. They told me I’m not entitled to bring the car back if they don’t get a report from a service that the car has obviously an issue. So I booked in for a service for same day but they said after that that needs to be seen by a diesel specialist. I called back cargiant to tell them I’m unable to find any spaces available for service until end of March and my 14 days to return the car will be gone by then. So they booked me for a service for Wednesday and I got there ,they confirmed the fault and send the report to cargiant . I called cargiant again to ask when to bring the car back and get my refund which was around £4000 and they said that a manager has to verify and approve the rejection of the car and they will get back to me. It’s Friday and no phone call from them. I just called now and they told me I’m not entitled to reject the car and can’t have a full refund . Basically they are forcing me to pay for a faulty car and they don’t care about customer rights that I have 14 days to bring it back and it’s not because I don’t like the car but because it’s faulty and I really don’t want it when they say they will fix it because I don’t know how the car will be in 2 months time and what else will show me as errors. This is just disgusting customer service I have received and I will escalate this further as they basically force me to get the car no matter what. The 14 days customers rights to cancel are just ***** and do not believe them.

“If I could put zero I would”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Aront246 on 24/10/2022

If I could put 0 stars I would... being a female I felt that buying a car from such a reputable dealership was best. How wrong was I. Whilst they claim to ensure the car is rd worthy before purchase, following purchase the car was found to have faulty breaking system and windscreen wash system. 2 clear rd safety features. Going through their Car Giant warranty company is an even bigger shambles as every part of the wording is misleading from truth to excuse from not carrying out the job or deterring customers making the whole item invalid. When you then go through complaint system it's like waiting for paint to dry. Be warned whilst they don't advertise you have 6 months to bring back due to mechanical faults... if you buy from them, drive straight to a reputable mechanic

“Cargiant not all what it seems ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Statwraith on 02/07/2022

They advertise on Autotrader a lot . On the face of it , the cars look cheap.First thing to notice is all the car pictures are taken from a distance. The reason for this will become clear. I placed a deposit on a low mileage insignia . On the Web after being guided there by a telephone enquiry I made . During which I was told the car has been discounted. I made it clear I was traveling in to London from West wales. I then got a follow up telephone conversation the next day. During which I was supposed to be given full details about the car. Again I mentioned I was traveling into London from West wales and had booked the train tickets. I even asked this time is there any damage. To which I was told all our cars are roadworthy. Imagine my surprise after 6 hrs of traveling to find the car I put a deposit on was damaged down the left hand side with damage to the front wing rear door and rear arch area . Also there was deep key damage on the right hand side. I'm writing this on the long train journey home. Cargiant not all it seems.

“Very pushy and do not cater to needs ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Fisherfl364 on 17/08/2021

They wouldn't allow me to test drive the car. I told them I wanted a car with 1.2 litre engine and they recommended a 1.6 litre engine one saying the Toyota Yaris will cut fuel costs because it's a hybrid car. When I decided not to purchase the car and cancelled the sales person called me back desperate to defend his case saying that I seemed keen to buy. I was but after learning how expensive the running costs I decided not to go ahead.

“Wouldn't rush back”

★★☆☆☆

written by Pope_acute on 25/02/2020

Cargiant Well would I buy from here again? Only if I really had too. The ikea of car sales , one big system conveyor belt which is like a ride you can get off. I was 5 hours buying a car. Was told it'll take 2 hours on the phone to buy it, before I arrived for a test drive. Sales folk are nice but they push the warranty and extras but that's to be expected, they are sales people. Then you're left to wait 2 hours or whenever the next collection time slot is available. Then it's finance staff , they check details, then they take the money at a different counter. Then i had to wait another 2 hours more until my car was ready. The digital ticket system is reminiscent of the housing association or social, where it's a ticket and wait and watch the screen for your turn. The car is what I wanted and the specs so I endured it. But I will not rush back that's for sure. Especially since I bought a part electric car, and it had no charge only 1 mile range left on it when they handed it over eventually. They had it for over 5 hours and no one stuck it on the charger. They knew I was coming to test drive it and they never bothered to charge beforehand for that either. Really sucked all the joy out of buying a car.

“Car described with SatNav but only SatNav ready”

★☆☆☆☆

written by manjithear on 03/02/2020

Awful car dealer. Car sold with satnav as a MAIN headline feature, turns out it's not. It transpires it's only SatNav ready, requires a £300 SD card from Mecedes. Big difference. Owners manual is also missing, i was assured it was in glove box when i paid for the car, it was not. Phoned them the next very next day and they were dismissive/ defensive from the outset. They fobbed me off by referring me to some small print on invoice. Catagorically unhelpful car dealer in my humble opinion.

“Even MANAGERS are RUDE! AVOID!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by SelmanBugancik on 05/05/2019

I made an online application to PCP a car. I received a phone called next day from the finance team saying that the application was accepted for HP not for PCP. I tried to explain the situation to a MANAGER. He was utterly rude. He kept saying that you made the application and accepted the terms and conditions. I said you're right, I did accept the terms and conditions but I made an application for PCP not for HP. He hang up the phone!! I now have a hard search on my credit file for nothing. Absolutely ridiculous. Avoid them at all cost.

“NO AA WARRANY AND NO SUPER GUARD”

★★★☆☆

written by on 24/03/2019

You can buy a car in your budget. But before you buy please check other seller price. Remember Never buy other offer except the car. Sales man will offer you AA warranty and super guard. Please do not buy any of them. AA warranty is very complicated to claim and it much cheaper in AA own warranty policy. Super Guard is just rubbish. Its just like 5 pound car wash. Sales person is just trying to sell this product. This is the way they make profit by selling car. Its difficult to find out any fault by viewing car. Even test drive is very short. When you have signed with them, you can't change your mind. But they are better than local garage. If you are lucky, you will get perfect car. Otherwise there are lots of small fault in their car i.e, small paint damage, interior small structure broken, seat cover damage. some damage you will find when you take it to do full service. These damages are engine component that you could not see when you bought the car.

“Purchasing was fine but poor after sales service ”

★★☆☆☆

written by 325Williams on 25/09/2018

We bought a car earlier this year, £12k for an Audi A3 which we were happy with. Buying was fine and no complaints. Recently there has been a very small fault which you would assume any half decent after sales would at least try and help with, but they point blank shut us down with a bit of a made up excuse. It is within the 6 month period they mention but has done 5,100 miles since we bought it, and they said they cant help us now. I asked why and they said it was because of the Consumer Act, almost saying that the consumer act dictates that second hand car dealerships shouldn't help people who have done more than 5,000 miles, which of course is absolute nonsense. Cars are sold here on a sold as seen basis, but we are happy with what we bought, CGs after sales service would 100% have claimed they would have helped us with this before we bought it, but now they see a get out, they are trying to wash their hands of us. Treat then with caution.

Yes you should be covered by Consumer Right Acts. If the car is faulty you can reject the sale with the first 30 days and get a full refund. After the 30 days till 6 months after sale you should get free repairs or a replacement. If repair or replacement is not possible you are entitled to a full refund. After 6 months you will need to proof that the fault existed when you bought it (which might be a difficult thing to do). Of course you can buy a warranty from car giant or 3rd party if you want but for the first 6 month you should be covered anyway so it might be waste of money.

i had recently bought a nissan qashqai 2011, Two days later i was driving on motorway when the rear break pads went. Drove to the nearest garage and i was told that the car was not safe to be on the road, as there were other things wrong with it: bushes, suspension front and rear. I took it back to after sales team at white city and all they did is change the brakes and told me that it was all done. this was my first buy, as i dont know much about cars. week later again on the motorway noisy suspension , called AA breakdown cover and i was told that bushes and suspension are very bad and needs changing urgently. As i had taken AA warranty when bought the car(sold by car giant) i thought it will cover and to my surprise it was not. Called after sales and they seem to be very polite but not get the work done and especially when it comes to road safety.

I've just discovered I cannot pay with my credit card. I'm due to collect the car tomorrow, and paid a £200 deposit. I'm tempted to pull out even if I lose the deposit as I don't want to be forced into a high APR car finance. If I had known I couldn't use a credit card, I never would have bothered with this place. My part exchange car is half of the cost of the car, and I wanted to pay the remainder with my credit card. Do I have any other options?

Best to contact their customer service and explain the situation to them. see if they can help out. Some credit cards also have the option to transfer funds to your bank account. might be worth checking with your CC provider if they can offer you that facility. beware of high Interest rates for these kinds of transfers though.

CarGiant are great to visit due to their huge car fleet but the sale process is a pain and don't get fooled into buyng the paint protection treatment/coating, that stuff works if applied by a professional (takes from 4h to a full day), they do it in15 minutes:( With regards to your question, isn't the APR on your credit card high anyway? Or were you just going to put in on card and may full balance within1 month? In any case you can take a personal loan where APR at the moment are not high (6-9%?) and then prepay the balance in full within a few days (make sure there is no prepayment penalty on the loan). Hope it helps

I discovered this as well but it is clear on their website that they do not accept credit cards, I would probably argue a credit card is not the best way to borrow money, but there are good 0% deals around. This was my plan but I had to get the cash sorted out to buy the car. I guess there are too many instances of fraud using credit cards buying cards the defaulting on payment. Even whe you pay the deposit they say you can only pay cash or debit card. Prices are low here so that is also why they don't take other forms of payment. I agree it should be made clear before you put down a deposit.

Contact their costumer service in the first place. If you just changed your mind, it might be very difficult to get your money back. If there is an issue with the car and the Car Giant did not inform you about, you should be covered by the Sales of Goods act. You should act as quickly as possible within a few weeks after the sale. In any case you will need to contact the costumer service first and probably you will lose their sneaky £99 admin fee too.

I had a problem with Car Giant and initially they did not want to know, very awkward and unhelpful, wanted the car back for examination, but no replacement car and could not confirm how long they would need it for, they really could care less. I purchased an Audi A3 from them (with four tyres on the car that were older than the car itself) the car drove badly and the tyres wer dangerous. I spoke to their local trading standards office (Ealing I think) and they advised I was entitled to a full refund under the "sale of goods act" I contacted them to ask them to collect the car and only then did they back down and offer to pay 75% of the cost of four new tyres. Basically they seem to buy fleet stuff at Auction, cover up all the scratches temporarily and then flog it. Trading standards were very helpful and quite insistent that I was entitled to a refund. Wished I'd pursued the refund now as the car has been sold because it was so awful. Hope this helps. Good luck and don't back down.

Additionally if you used a credit card to pay for the car, you are covered by their insurance. Notify the provider that you are unhappy about the product and they might put the payment on hold. You might still have to pay at the end, but for sure it will get Car Giant attention.

Cars are used in these kind of companies, the mileage depends on the usage of the vehicle. I have bought a car for the first time and I was 100% satisfied, And the same applies in every business you only get what you pay for

Hi I have bought several cars from Car Giant and find that mileage ranges as you would expect and this is reflected in price. I believe that the cars are a combination of private and ex company and lease cars which will explain high mileage on some newer cars.

My car was an ex-mobility car I think, only 6000 miles on the clock, 3 years old an in great condition. I've bought three low mileage cars from Car Giant and all have been great.

Thank you for all your replies... and I am glad that you all have had a very nice experience with cargiant... basically I am looking to buy BMW 520D and have searched Autotrader and been to Car giant site too but so far no luck. Budget is £10,000 maximum. I know I cannot buy the new shape model but I think £10k should be able to buy car which is around 2008 model. I also think that around 10k miles per year is kind of normal but 25k miles a year means the car has been used a lot. I will go to cargiant again to see what else they have in stock... btw.. which cars did you guys buy ?

Dont forget to keep an eye out for the "Managers Special" deals, they do them weekly and have exellent savings. The last vehicle we purchased from Cargiant was a Managers Special and we saved over £500, we arrived early on a Monday morning ad they had just put the promotional sticker on the car we went on to purchase, you also have the peace of mind of the guarantee and knowing the vehicle is fully checked over. My advice is call Monday mornings speak to the BMW section and ask whats on special offer. Good Luck hope you find what your looking for.

I have no idea where they buy their cars from, but what I can say is that I have purchased 2 cars from them and the first was 3 years old and had only 14k mileage on it and the second one, again 3 years old, only had 12k mileage on it. I do know that they were both previously owned by disabled drivers. I hope this helps.

Their cars vary from Private owners to ex rentals to company cars. I can confirm this because I was looking at a honda civic S-type (new shape). Just by looking at the log book, we could tell who was the previous owner. Alot of people will tell you that "they get them from auction"...blah blah.... dont take their word for it. best way to find out? go...ask them to see the log book. they wont say no to you. Tip: (if you can afford it & for peace of mind) when you purchase your car, get a full health check from AA or RAC. it will cost you somewhere in the region of 200 to 300 quid but it will show any little niggling issues that may crop up. Hope the above helps :) #Buyer of a Honda Civic S-Type 1.4 Si 60 Plate 30,500 miles.

I bought a three year old Passat with 90k miles on the clock. It had been bought by Car Giant at an auction in Bristol, and was previously leased to a Herefordshire company that I knew. The condition of the car was excellent, so having seen all the history beforehand I was happy to buy, and five months on I've had no problems whatsoever. Well maintained, high mileage = bargain!

The good thing is, they will always have a log book (unless otherwise specified). If in doubt, just ask for the log book. There was a Honda civic new shape that I was looking at. very clean...less than 20k miles and only 1 year old. why would anyone sell I asked myself? THe log book showed 2 owners....and from certain points....it hinted at a divorce settlement. its only an assumption though.but whoever got that car in the end...got a bargain!
