If Canon have produced a Camcorder which has developed a common fault. Why have they not initiated a recall or at least offered a repair service at a reduced rate. This is a poor reflection on the backup service Canon so proudly display in their adverts

Nice to see a camera without all the glittery bits like chip and pin logo's stuck on the side, the effort seems to have gone more into the build and quality of the Canon MV700i instead of "cool" looks. Works as it says on the box. With the extra leads had no trouble putting footage onto dvd writer and just the thing for macs, straight into imovie, edit then back onto camera, all controled by imovie, then onto dvd writer from camera, seamless. Good picture and sound, controls in the right place, big and easy to see, great if you are 50+ and sight is not what it was and digits getting arthritic. Exceptional value from Comet at time of writing and for once I did buy 2 years extra cover, inc damage cover, @£80 since last camcorder, nasty thing, not canon packed up and looking at £130 min + bits for repair, so not viable. Brought on strength of digital still camera, Canon pro 90, I bought some years ago and should have bought first camcorder on my own advice instead of wasting money on the other thing. Although quite conservative looking, almost ugly, performs well so far and could ask for nothing better for general family filming.
