The Metzeler MEZ 3 is a sports tourer tyre but probably more sports than tourer. For the high mileage user it did square off rather quickly and an hour or so of high speed motorway riding saw perceptible wear. nevertheless, reasonable mileage, good handling, good roadholding and average price for a medium power bike ridden by an old geyser.

The reason BMW recommend the Metzeler's is because its a German tyre and a German Bike, I've got a thundercat running a metzeler on the front and a dunblop on the rear, looking to match the rear to the front soon, Front holds the road great, even when youre getting the knee down, but they like to be the correct pressure, if low the tyre will rut or get slippy over the tar used to seal the cracks in the road, but you get used to it.... :)
