“Terrible Customer Service”

During the weekend of the 8th October I asked my son to place certain items into his basket using his Amazon account. Pending payment, we purchased an Amazon Gift card for £50 to pay for the goods. This was bought using a credit card at the Wilkinson's Store, Perry Barr One Stop Shopping Centre Birmingham. I was reluctant to use my card online. On Sunday 15th October we attempted to pay for goods in the basket with my son scratching off the back of the card to reveal the claim code. In going into his account and attempting to redeem it, a message returned that the claim code was invalid. We tried several times with no luck. On Monday 16th October we returned to the store and approached the Customer Service desk where two women who were not very helpful told us that there was nothing they could do as they were only selling the cards on behalf of another party (Amazon) and that we should contact Amazon. They gave us a contact number which turned out to be incorrect. My son got then got in touch with Amazon Customer Service himself on Tuesday via telephone and gave much of the above information. He was told that the card had not been activated and that Amazon could not activate it from their end either. He was sent an email back and told to go back to the store, show the email and where they should be able to sort matters by giving a refund. They requested the store contact Amazon but this fell on deaf ears. I left work a little earlier on a Tuesday to attend the store with my son at about 17.45. Again we approached the Customer Service desk and spoke to another lady who appeared to be either a senior sales assistant or supervisor as she was ordering staff to lock up as it was near closing. She checked the receipt and number and said that the card had been activated at the till and that she was not able to give a refund without the manager. She however contacted their Customer Services and on speaking to them, they refused to reimburse or issue us with a new card saying that it was for Amazon to sort the problem and to contact them again. We had now entered into a 'not our fault' zone going backwards and forwards between Amazon and Wilko. We had been to the store now three times, contacted Amazon twice by telephone and through three emails without a satisfactory conclusion. We were now becoming stressed by the ordeal. Since we entered faithfully into a contract with Wilko/Amazon (seller) and ourselves (purchaser) either or both were in breach of the Trades Description Act and believe that since we had been sold faulty goods and were not able to use the goods as described, we were entitled to a refund at least. We were made to feel as though we were trying to cheat the system. Shame on you Wilkinsons now trading as Wilko. We have been disappointed that matters could not have been resolved locally. Wilko have clearly shown little regards for us as customers and we felt fobbed off by their attitude. There was no attempt to rectify the situation as they could have done. The store was once reasonable but has rapidly deteriorated with poor lines and poor staff attitudes.

“Avoid this retailer”

There were no staff members available to ask questions and when I finally found somebody they were seriously lacking in brain power. It looks like a retailer that is pure profit driven and doesn't care about it's staff or customers. Stock layout is confusing and own brand products are really poor and break within days. I can see why this retailer is struggling as b and m are much better value for money and the range has a better look and feel to it.

“Birkenhead Store”

What has happened to it,use to go in regular,went in today could not believe the difference. Has gone very expensive,you can get things a lot cheaper in other shops will not shop there again.

“delivered to wrong address”

I ordered a tv unit and specifically requested it to be delivered to my work address as like most people I was working and no-one was at home. They delivered it to my home address and posted a note saying it was left with a neighbour however I didnt see the small note for ages as it was stuck in my letterbox and I obviously wasnt looking for it because I thought it was going to my work. This is a bit ridiculous cosidering you are asked if you want it to be delivered to an alternative addtess to the billing addtess. Its not hard!

“Disgusting”

Wilkinsons is a terrible place to shop, online delivery charge is way overpriced, I ordered a curtain pole and some hooks Tuesday not getting to me until tusday next week! I have cancelled the order and picked it up today in store without the delivery charge! Online shopping is suppose to be hassle free and quick, wilkinsons did not show any customer value when I told them I will not be shopping with them anymore and hung up. Very rude and will not be ordering or shopping with them again!

“no staff. unfriendly”

I went into this shop for the first and last time. I am from America. Everything was dotted around the place in no particular fashion. I attempted to find a store member but nobody was around.I waited for 15 minutes to find the item I was looking for. hair straightners. I finally came across a scruffy looking man with a red tie on.He obviously worked there as He had no coat on just a shirt and tie....plus it was raining. I asked him where the straightners are and He pointed over there and walked off. He then went to desk and shouted....yes shouted for staff to attend the paying station. The poor staff looked terrified and jumped on the payout counters. I just ended up leaving without the goodies and went to argos instead. Never again. Walmart to the uk. Horrid place and cheaper elsewhere.

“bing bong system”

Everytime i walk into the store a bingbong goes off. I was wondering why everytime im in there its code this and code that. I asked security what code 100 was and he said its staff leaving and needing a search. What the ekk. Sounds like an airport.

“Poor service”

Ordered a battery week ago. haven't got any news after 48 hours. Call them they said the order will be ready to collect after 2 days. No news again after 2 days. Emailed them, they replied saying to wait another 48hours. Just don't know how many 48hour I have to wait?

“Online Order Incompetance”

Thurs 19/03/15 Online order paint, wallpaper and wallpaper paste. +premium 'next day delivery. Total +£170. Order confirmation by email. Fri 20/03/15 Text received morning: "Your Wilko.com order is out for delivery today." The delivery made around 11am. It arrived incomplete. I phoned customer services who said they would look into it. They phoned back to advise that they had run out of the wallpaper I ordered. It said +700 in stock, so must be popular. They would have phoned "at some point today to inform me." I checked my online account and no information about this issue. No email/text about order problem either. They offered to reorder the wallpaper, next day delivery again. Although not able to commit to stock availability, and so cant promise actual delivery of the items the next day. "I could drop them a line to check if you want."(!) After being given excuses and explanations a refund was requested and made for the wallpaper, I had to ask for refund of the premium delivery, it wasn't even offered as a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience caused. No other goodwill gestures offered. Inconvenience of missing a day off work. The standards fall way short of all my experience of online retail. Poor.

“If I could give 0 stars I would”

I decided to visit their shop in Crewe on boxing day sales.The price of the products doesn't match once you get to the till. End up paying the full price as I would on a normal day for all the products, once I complain the lady on the till said she couldn't refund me today that I would have to go back tomorrow. I felt cheated and I will definitely not shop in there again, specially on boxing day.Very annoyed! I wonder if they would refund the petrol and time that I would have to spend to go back. Would have left all the products if there wasn't any people waiting in the queue to get served.

“The worst shop from Colchester”

A very young lady member of staff was very rude to me without any consideration regarding my age or the fact that I am a client. Therefore, I quit my shopping and I left the shop indignantly. Seems to me that the members of staff are trained to humiliate you not to respect you!

“GOODS ARRIVED DAMAGED”

I recently ordered some emulsion online.One of the boxes came damaged and there was a slit in the plastic lid of the emulsion.Emulsion had leaked out into the box. The other tin of emulsion had also leaked out through the metal lid. Previously I ordered a dinner service..Two of the plates were broken when I opened the package...Maybe they should review their delivery service..Really bad service and certainly wont be ordering online from this company again. “Heater shambles”

I order a Dimplex Convector heater from Wilko.com. It arrived a few days later; fortunately somebody was at home to collect because we weren't given any forewarning of the delivery or given a tracking number. The packaging of the heater looked as if has previously been opened, and when I opened the box the heater was damaged with a large dent in the casing of the heater which meant that you could see the internal elements of the heater. I contacted Wilko who apologised and arranged for a collection and redelivery at the same time. Again we weren't notified of the delivery date and there was no tracking information. The second heater arrived and a "new" one delivered. This heater was in exactly the same condition as the first! Clearly Wilko and Dimplex are sending out "returned goods" and passing them off as new. I contacted Wilko and asked that the 2nd heater was collected and for them to refund me the money. They told me what day the heater would be collected - a Tuesday between 8am and 6pm........... it's now 7pm on that day, and still no collection - I have waited in all day!!! I have contacted Wilko again who were very apologetic, but admitted that they are unable to offer any solutions or explanations for the catelogue of mishaps because the item comes direct from the 3rd party, i.e. Dimplex........ however Wilko are happy to collect your money. I am waiting for a return call from Wilko to find out when the collection and subsequent refund may happen!!!

“Very late delivery with no contact”

I have ordered two things from wilkos one was £70 and the other £150 plus deliverys. The £70 rug is now a week late and still hasn't turnt up even after ringing customer services last week and being promised it will be here at the latest today. No had contacted me so I'm stuck waiting in for it to turn up. The table i ordered i had more faith in as i got a phone call the next day saying it will be with me the following monday morning. Well I've waited in all day yet again and its still not here, after ringing again (from a mobile that costs 20p a min as we've just moved in and no home phone) i was told oh sorry you're booked in for Tuesday now yet no one contacted me to let me know this. I'm disgusted with the service and contact well lack off. You're better off picking up from store!

“Unreliable delivery service”

Place my order on line to receive confirmation email that goods are being dispatched and is on its first course of its journey (presumably to be delivered to advised address). So I waited and waited. Unable to track goods using their tracking tool I used the customer service. was told to wait goods will be with me next day, confirmed that items had left depot. .! Still no arrival. Still unable to track goods us ing their tool bar. So rang again a Very polite customer service team membertold me my goods haven't left depot. Wait another four days. , Strange though as to the fact that they (customer service ) was not concered with their faulty tracker , emails or courier service or their misleading information. I won't be using their on line service again

“THE PITS!”

Absolutely the WORST website ever. Also terrible customer servivce, long queues, and overpriced tat. It used to be a good, cheap 'general' dealers. Avoid like the plague. They'll go the same way as Woolworths before long.

“Expensive”

Having been a shopper in Wilkos for years I have seen their prices go higher and higher. I am a dissapointed that the costs of the basics have gone up. I recently went to poundland and yes I got all my toiletries for a pound. I had never been in before until recently and all the mainlines are stocked in this shop. In future I will be going their for my shampoo, toothpaste, milk and other food items. I would recommend just going into the pound shops they have transformed over the years. I visited the Bradford store of Wilkinsons and it was a tip. Lady in black jacket very rude. Floor unclean and generally a bit of a sham Louise.

“Bad response to problem ”

15/01/14 000015-Visited Uxbridge store-bought ink cartridge. Went on to M&S and security alarm went off. Advised to return to Wilkinson's where I was told that there was no problem with the cartridge. When I mentioned to the 'manager'( not sure that it was the manager but certainly not an assistant) that the alarm had gone off in M&S he flippantly said 'Don't go in to M&S then' The security alarms continued to go off in other stores until a helpful assistant in Next department store disabled the security chip for me. I phoned the Uxbridge store and was told that the manager would ring me after an interview he was conducting. I have not received a call from him
