Bought 2004 Vento Phantom in 2008 with only 300 miles on it. Like the looks and feel of it. So far so good. Question w/the 150cc engine what is the top speed suppose to be? My book says 60 Vento told me 50 any though there thanks. Over all good scooter. But for the price of a new one is it worth it compared to the knock offs.

Bought the Vento Phantom on line after speaking with dealer in 04. Shipped directly to home. Easy to assemble and fun to ride. I put 2500 miles on it mostly at WOT on a 55 mph rd with no traffic lights. Straight and level for 17 miles. Belt blew at 2500. Modified exhaust with Pro150 and rejetted carb and moded air filter to K&N. still tops out at 53 mph. I am 5'7" 250 lbs. At purchase I was around 180 lbs. Have seen no decrease in overall top end. Live at 6200' above sea level which takes away power. When purchase hard to get replacement parts: panel/light bulb/vacum fuel shut off (which is a common issue)/belt/gasket/fuel filter/decals. Had bolts break on the head and had to have entire head removed (rear end as well) to have them replaced with better bolts. Has been on the center stand for two years due to battery failure (second one my fault, take out for winter and put on charger, clock will drain battery. Have never used remote alarm or starter. Took out kickstart when I replaced the belt, other scoots don't use kickstarts. In all a fun scoot with a nice ride just maintenance intense compared to my Honda Reflex and useful for only short errands or city travel.

Overall pretty good, but regular maintence checks HIGHLY recommended for safety of nuts being in place and on tight.
I took it in for first maintenance @ 600 miles and the rear axle nut was MISSING! It just came off. I even drove it to the dealer's like this. I guess I was lucky not to get in an accident!
Regular brake cable inspection & axle nut inspection is HIGHLY recommended for safety!
Hard to find parts (cannot find an 18W H4 Halogen headlight bulb anywhere in Denver, CO). Put in a 35 W from a Honda and it works just fine (go higher and you run the risk of melting the headlight assembly).
Engine runs okay, but seems to run a little rough (could be the break in period as I have nearly 700 miles on it now).

This is my second Vento scooter (first was a Sauron GT 125cc). I got is through my dealer for a big discount. I took the lime green scooter and am very pleased using it as a commuter to work (saves my motorcycle for weekend playtime). I just got 90 miles out of 1.16gal of super-unleaded! Experiencing front end shimmy at around 45mph and suspect an unbalanced tire. I will have my dealer check that out on it's initial tune. Very happy with power. I live at over 5280 feet elevation and surprising power at this altitude. When possible I am going to Martin Racing Performance for upgrade to the brake pads. Just like discounted motorcycles, they have to skimp here and there. Brakes, plastics, and some build quality are some of the compromises. Overall very happy with the scooter and laughing at gas stations with every mile!
