“Member of staff incompetent”

★★☆☆☆

written by Megsgarden on 06/02/2019

Called at Shell in Helsby Cheshire on 06/02/19 4.30pm. I don't usually write reviews but the middle aged lady who was serving tonight is unbelievable. I live local, and every time she is working I experience queue's out the door - she can't get card machine to work or some such nonsense. Tonight she hadn't charged the chap in front for his shopping (he kindly informed her of this), so she spend ages trying to sort it out, getting extremely flustered and working at a snails pace. Then finally when she started to serve me you would think she could move up a gear, instead she excused herself because she needed a break and went to blow her nose. I was stood there after a hard day's work whilst she slowly took deep breaths and wiped her nose. I have never been served by anyone who can work so slowly. Shell needs to witness it for themselves to believe how bad she is. Customers...we have lives to live and don't want to spend ages waiting to be served. My teenage son referred to her as an 'old lady' she's younger than me but gives the impression of a totally incompetent feble employee.

“Shell Petrol Station Ottershaw (with Honda Dealership)”

★★☆☆☆

written by Timbob_23 on 04/03/2016

This Shell station continues to disappoint me every time I visit! The forecourt is dirty and needs a good clean up - a sweep of all the debris and leaves wouldn't go amiss. There are never any disposable gloves or paper towels available - not good if you use diesel like myself. I find the staff unfriendly and lazy* too, particularly the forecourt manager (*see above comments). And the price of the fuel used to be very competitive but is now expensive. I once went in there one evening and they wouldn't serve me petrol as they told me they were "cashing up"!! This was in the middle of the evening when they should be open - THERE WERE NO SIGNS OUT INDICATING THEY WERE CLOSED EITHER?! Off course I wasn't the only one they didn't serve - there was a steady trickle of cars being turned away by these muppets... All in all a petrol station well worth avoiding.

“Facilities at Tweed Heads Shell”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 08/11/2013

We use shell garages regularly and while holidaying in Queensland we needed to fill our car up and use the bathroom facilities. But to our disappointment there was no bathroom facilities to use. I had to walk across to the shopping centre in the rain and wait under shelter to be picked up. My family were unable to get their car out due to vehicles parking behind them and I could not wait for them to go around the block to pick me up. All the other garages we went to had facilities that you could use when filling up the car. To be told that you have to cross the road to use the toilet is disappointing and for some people it could be a real embarassment.

“what no loos again, the second time in 3 weeks,clean...”

★★☆☆☆

written by MICKSHEP on 19/08/2013

I went in to the newly refurbished shell at little singleton on the garstang road, on sunday. I not only wanted £50 in petrol, but I also needed the loo.The sign on the door said that they were out of order. It was the same three weeks ago when I called and needed the loo.(tablets). When the garage was first refurbished the loos were ok, but the next time I used them the staff had stacked bottles and cans in the loo. Also the mop bucket was in there, and the mop and bucket were disgusting. When I leave my holiday home in future I will use the station at Morrisons about 3miles away in the other direction

“Still No LPG”

★★☆☆☆

written by jennimag on 15/04/2013

Why is there still no LPG at Stop 24 M20 Jn 11? The service station has been open now after refurbishment for several weeks (bad enough that it was closed!)It is the first station you come to when leaving Dover and as it has several eating places there, it is where travellers will naturally stop after their long journey. I and many others simply drive in and straight out again, as if they can't be bothered to provide LPG, then I can't be bothered to go in to the service area to purchase anything else. Staff do not know why the LPG pumps are not operational either. Come on and get your act together Shell.

“Dirty washrooms in saskatchewan”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 03/04/2013

Form many years now we have stopped at the Shell station in Davidson Sk, This washroon always has at least one stall(urinal) closed, and looks like it has not been cleaned in a month. A little paint and cleaning would go a long way to omprove the appearance. There is also a resturaunt attached to it???

“Attitude”

★★☆☆☆

written by Daz939 on 31/03/2013

Stopped at a shell garage for a coffee at cove road in Fleet Hampshire. It was at 0445 which i didn't see as an issue as the garage was a 24hr place. The chap in the shop had locked the door so i knocked and he grunted"what" which annoyed me.I asked if i could get a coffee as i was driving back to county Durham ,the member of staff replied "no".I replied by explaining that it was a 24 hr garage as advertised, the staff member just shrugged his shoulders and walked off into the back of the shop.Bad attitude i say and if shell advertise 24hr services then the customer should be able to purchase certain items 24 hrs a day!!!!!

“ Shell Milton Keynes South - poor service and rude staff.”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 17/01/2013

Staff can't be bothered. Went in again this morning, bought over £100 of fuel. Visa card went through reader and wasn't read, twice. Then the reader declined the card. I asked the sloppy and stupid-seeming dark haired girl "What now"? She said I'd have to get someone else to pay over the phone, and that "You can't leave" (oh yes I can). I was about to give details and leave anyway, when luckily the card reader read the card, and all was well - except that having had very poor service there before, and been offended this morning by an offhand and rude person - again - I shall not be using any Shell station at all this year (2013). 17/Jan/2013 08:55

“If you have been past a Shell garage recently you will...”

★★☆☆☆

written by collegefreaks2000 on 01/08/2010

If you have been past a Shell garage recently you will have noticed massive banners shouting FuelSave at you.

I was taken in by the 'save a litre of fuel with each tank full' So I though what the heck and went for it, that and Shell are pretty cheap too.

My tank (of Diesel) was running virtually empty and I filled 11 litres up (didn't want to fill it to the top as it was before payday and it would have cost me £50+ of which I don't have).

After about 1 hour my car became very lumpy, the turbo didn't kick in and it randomly lost acceleration.

The car felt totally different to what it did only 1 hour ago and did so for the next 4 days until I managed to drive it like a nutter to get rid of the fuel so I could put some bog standard Morrisons own brand Diesel which I have used on numerous occasions and never had a problem.

Since filling it up (to the brim) the car is almost back to normal. As Shell have decided to replace their standard fuel with FuelSave, I will no longer be using them

written by on 04/03/2010

After trying to pull off the A14 i was stuck half on and half off the A14 in rush hour on the slip road to the garage. Lorries missing me by inches because x2 stupid foreign lorry drivers had parked where they should not have chatting in the garage and blocked access. The attendent was too busy chatting to his friend inside to help. For 10 minutes i had cars beeping at me and taking emergency action to miss my car. Lets just say i thought i was going to get hit and killed. I was flashing the attendent but he just could not be bothered. Talk about complete and utter lack of health and safety.!!!!!! Keep away from this garage... Fenstanton where they just can`t be bothered.

“The fuel was marginally higher in cost than one or two...”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 13/09/2009

The fuel was marginally higher in cost than one or two local Shell garages, but I was low on juice, so I pulled in. The wife thought it would be a good idea to put the car throught the wash, so i bought a Bronze car wash token as well.

Not a good idea. The car wash was void of soap - just water coming out slowly from the nozzles. After drying off, my car was coverered in residues. In fact it looked worse than when it went into the carwash.

The nub of this is that the member of staff insisted upon dragging me outside to watch another car go through the wash. No soap again, jets just spluttering. He assured me that this was OK/normal (apparently I'm an idiot). He didn't speak very good English so continuing to compalain was approaching the inevitable conclusion - call the Police and spend all day pointlessly arguing over a car wash. He eventually issued me with a 50% discount on the next wash. Pointless unless they have it working properly.
I won't be going back again. Shell - sort your staff out or pick them more carefully.

written by on 18/02/2009

My husband and I paid a substantial amount to have our Subaru Forrester converted to LPG last summer and I am absolutely dumbfounded as to why there are hundreds of fuel stations that still don't supply it.
Besides it being more environmently friendly, it has reduced our fuel bill by half, but even though there is a Shell fuel station on our doorstep in Rowlands Castle, we have to travel about 10 to 12 miles up the A3 to Petersfield to buy the LPG, (from a BP station).
