Lixouri, Cephalonia Palace Hotel

Very spacious, clean hotel and gardens. Excellent friendly staff who cannot do enough to help. Option of staying by the pool or three minute short stroll to the beach. Next to the hotel their is a car rental so once you have collected your car you can go anywhere really! Lixouri is easily accessible by taxi and has a good range of restaurants and shops. Excellent safe area for families with children. However, it's a fair distance from Kefalonia airport. Not suitable for anyone who likes to have a stroll into the pubs and bars in the evening as it is in an icolated position. Care hire is a necessity. Overall, if you're looking for a get-away-from-it-all break then this is the place but if not... then stay away.

It is a little dated, on the day we were leaving some new furniture was being delivered. The the sun shades by the hotel need updating as they can not be adjusted the handles are rusty and the springs are jammed. I had the usual Greek food and I think that no effort had gone into making it more interesting and offering new recipes but you could eat your fill of what was there. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the beach bar was Ok. The beach is long and the water clear

Cephalonia Palace Hotel, Lixouri.

We arrived at the airport, very hot and I was tired so a bit irritable. was taken to passport control, then baggage, where i fell in love (great start to the holiday). then went to our coach (1 coach per hotel so no annoying pit stops). We were taken to Argostoli where you get the ferry across to Lixouri, that was great you see some great views and a great kick start to a tan!!

When you get to the other side you catch another coach to the hotel! I only found that lugging the luggage to and from the boat a bit annoying. when we reached the hotel we where taken nto the lovely lobby leading onto the main bar! We were given the keys to out room and although there are a few stairs to either climb or go down you only do it twice so that's not a big prob!

Our first week was great went on a few excursions and spent some time by the pool, the beech was lovely and great romantic walks at night We met a lovely guy that worked there called Mikey. Bar staff where great Dina especially. Drink average but when you've had a few you loose the taste anyway.

Rooms nice and cleaned on a regular basis. and even though putting YOur loo paper in the bin seems daunting its ok when you get used to it.

Overall a great holiday didn't want to come home thank you to everyone who made my holiday a memorable one.
