“Do not go as all inclusive”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 15/05/2014

Great pools, clean rooms, ideal self service bar till on our second day they installed a turnstile, so your band has to scan to let you through, great idea if it works and there is no queues ! If you are not able bodied forget it no way a wheel chair gets through !We were told when we booked Restaurant La Tasca on the site was excellent, but, they closed it down and its a main restaurant that kept running out of food and plates ! Staff were sullen and un helful and couldn't care less about lack of food etc.Only 2 staff on floor of restaurant so we had to clear our own table for the whole holiday, im not lazy but when you go all inclusive you do not expect to walk half way round to find someplace to put your dishes !If going go as self catering and buy your own food from supermarket downtown.

We booked our holiday at the Bouginvillea, not knowing much about it. When I read the mixed reviews I was a bit concerned but we went with an open mind. First impressions when checking in, the staff were helpful and friendly. We went all inclusive and had an apartment. The apartment was quite basic but clean and tidy with everything you needed. It was set in an attractive shady area with trees and flowers around it, very pleasant to sit on the patio. The pool area is very nice with a selection of pools for different ages. There are plenty of sun beds and parasols, but one of the bad points was the fact that people tried to reserve these for long periods of time. We watched people from our bedroom window, getting up early just to put their towels on the sun beds and to get a parasol. These were not Germans but mostly English people and to these people i would say, 'get a life!'The management do say that reserving sun beds is not allowed but this was not enforced and people left towels etc all day even when going out!! the Bouganvilla had 3 restaurants plus a snack bar. We could not find fault with any of the food, there was always a variety of different foods available, something for everyone. We are used to eating well and although it was not cordon bleu it was very enjoyable. The staff in the restaurants were all very friendly and helpful, and for people with small children, went out of their way to assist them.Plates etc were cleared away quickly and all areas appeared clean. There are also shops on site, useful for newspapers and for those who were self catering. There is a large supermarket nearby, we purchased a fan here as they were quite dear to hire, one fan was adequate to keep the apartment cool (we did not have air conditioning) There was entertainment every night in the excellent venue, the Big Top.Most of the entertainment was presented by the in house entertainment team. Each night there were quizzes, bingo etc and the some live entertainment. One criticism would be that that a lot of the evening entertainment was directed at young children, this would have been better earlier in the evening. There were also presentations of Beat TV, programmes children had filmed, at the risk of sounding miserable, these were only really of interest to the parents of the children involved and should not really have been shown as part of the evening entertainment.A wider range of entertainment would have been nice, aimed at people of all ages, having said that, the entertainment team worked really hard and deserved a big pat on the back. Our son who is 13, found the kids entertainment too young, with nothing in between. The Big Top is a brilliant venue, though and did give you something to do each night. All of the Thomas Cook reps were very helpful and had a good knowledge of the area. We went on some great excursions, The Pirate show is not to be missed !All in all I would recommend the Bouganvillea, it is great for kids and there is a very friendly atmosphere. The cleaning and maintenance staff are very good and it is unfair of others to suggest they are less than trustworthy. I would go back to the Bouganvillea again. ( If you like a very quiet hotel, probably best to go elsewhere although it was not unbearably noisy)

Bouganvilla sa coma is a dive its a HI apartments its more like HI DE HI gone spanish, first when you arrive there is a mile long queue for reception no one shows you where ur room is! or carries your lugage, you then have apartments on three levels with NO LIFTS some family rooms up 36 steps!
if u are all inclusive you have long queues for drink and food the kids clubs are the only good thing.the staff never say alloa ever the fat lady on reception would not put a call from my wife thro too my room,my wife was in hospital with my 4 year old child who had pnuemonia!

the bed linen was always stained corkscrews were so rusty it was unreal no tv either the driver on the train/tractor that goes into sa coma (yes you are quiet a bit out)is one ignorant get he smokes driving, he drives all the time with one hand and stands in the bar in sa coma and helps no one!
The deepest pool has no lifeguard and looking at the pool you would think it was shallow also at night there is trampoline b ungee jumping saw a girl had the railings as the mountain inflatable saw a boy fall from top and hit the wall. they must know about the railings as they are covered in sponge.
Dont go there!

The first day I arrived at the hotel it was raining so it wasn't a good start to the holiday, the negative points on this holiday was the food, it's disgusting!, I found the staff working there rude! I wouldn't trust the maids if i were you, i got my purse stolen which had all my money init. Luckily I got it back with only a 50 Euros missing, my purse was abounded in the bath in my room.
i thought the staff dealt with it wrongly as i got blamed.
i wouldn't ever advise anyone to book their holiday with Thomas cook, their entertainment wasn't that good so i never bothered going, i was glad to have an all inclusive band but i had to eat out every night at a place called JJ'S which was lovely and their staff was nice to.
The pool at the hotel was lovely but didn't get much chance to go in as the weather was bad. The prices in the shops is terrible they charge way too much!, i believe the hotel should give the rooms tv's as it gets boring at night time.

“Just got back from Bouganvilla -Self catering so don't...”

★★★★☆

written by on 22/09/2009

Just got back from Bouganvilla -Self catering so don't use shop on site as hughely expensive -except for the big bottles of water, just inside the door, next to the trolleys. The same water inside the store is treble the cost! Went down to a supermarket about 10 mins away, and got everything we needed, and not expensive. Try their own make cornflakes and breakfast juice (1 Euro and 50 cents respectively!!) bargain or what (and they tasted good)! On site takeaway - La Tasca bit overpriced so venture down to J.J's and The Royal Oak (huge portions)are a must to eat at. A good 15 mins stroll, but well worth it. Try the Baileys pud - a dream!! Free train ride to beach is a must. Not air conditioned, but the fans are cheaper to buy outright at Eroski, than renting on site!! Rooms clean, but really very short on hanging space and drawer space for 5 adults.
Entertainment not really up to much, but staff worked very hard. Loads and loads of room by the pool and sunbeds always available. Pools really nice with plenty of room for the kids.

written by annmarie flaherty on 24/08/2009

This was the worst experience of majorca I have ever had. The room was dirty, we had to ask to be moved from a third floor to a ground floor as I had a baby with me and a mother with a back injury! No air con, rats, the maids changed the towels but never did anything else!Terrible entertainment, useless staff, pool side bars were filthy with very lazy staff, shop on site well over priced! I was told when booking that this place had air con and family friendly.. not even close!

Just returned from the Bouganvilla Apartments, Sa Coma. Accomodation was very basic with no tv and we had no air con. Entertainment was quite poor on an evening. we walked in to town which took us about 20 mins. there is a train/tractor that can take you and drops you off. we liked the royal oak pub for eating in, huge portions. clean beach, which is good. One good thing about it was that it was cleaned most days.

“We would probably go back! ”

★★★★☆

written by on 25/06/2009

We would probably go back!
I returned from Sa Coma, Bouganvilla Apartments, on the 21st June 09!
Food was great, but repetative, more or less the same thing eveyday, but plenty of choice! There is always somewhere open to eat & drink.
Entertainment was also repetative and got on my nerves a bit, but the children thoroughly enjoyed it! My children are aged 12, 9, and 2!
A few little things which i was a little displeased with such as

The apartments dont have airconditioning! (absolute killer when the temperature was about 80+)

The childrens clubs are for ages 3 to 11, & occasional poolside entertainment for ages 15-18, so ages 12-14 are a little bit left out of the fun!

Also the childrens clubs are staggered So if your lucky enough to have children within the club age groups, they wont all be joing their club at the same time!

The service in the restaurant really lets this accommodation down in m y opinion - would not go back or recommend this place due to this unless went self-catering! Also the entertainment needs to be more varied in my view.

All in all Bouganvilla Apartments is a self contained complex which is really big. Got everything you want there even a free train to beach as it's a good walk from complex. The kids if you have any are well looked after.
I'd recommend.

We were self catering and the best part of it was going down to the Royal Oak on the little train that picks you up outside the Bouganvilla. We went for breakfast and dinner, fantastic food, friendly English faces, and so popular it is always busy. The Royal Oak is a must for self caterers.

written by Barry Cave on 17/07/2007

Overall despite the bad points we enjoyed our stay, our 4 year old loved the pool and the sea. Hotel staff are friendly, plenty of things to do. Plenty of activities for children of all ages. Kids clubs was very good. The prices of beer and food on site was reasonable. The beach at Sa Coma was lovely and clean and very good for children. We hired a tandem bike on site which only cost 5 euros for 1 hr.

written by Jane Hasell on 08/08/2006

To hire a fan at the Bouganvilla Apartments in Cala D'Or is expensive if you stay for two weeks, so buy one from the local supermarket for less than a weeks hire price. We had no complaints during our stay, but we overheard lots of moans about the entertainment tent being very loud at night, booking apartments and getting smaller studios, and rooms not being very clean. This is the first package holiday I've done, and as expected it was really easy. Everything is laid on for you, explained, and reps were available, but I don't feel like I've been abroad. There really is not much of Mallorca in Mallorca!!
