I booked this hotel for 6 of us for july for two weeks.Arrived 2am in the morning and saw people putting out their towels on sunbeds. Some were even saving as many as 12 beds at one time. In the two weeks we were there only got to sit around the pool twice and that was because we set our clocks to get up at 4.30am to save our beds.On one of the occasions two of our towels were stolen. Some of the saved beds were not used untill 3pm that afternoon. There is a sign saying towels will be removed if left unattended for more than one hour [NEVER HAPPENED]When you speak to the pool attendant he tells you to remove the towels yourself.OK if you want a fight.Booked in for B@B, only went once. The Dining room is like a cattle market.Rooms OK, Not 5 star standard Beds were changed 3 time weekly but you had to beg for towels.Very disapointed with all aspects of this hotel and would never go there again.

We came back from a 2 week holiday at The Victoria Palace Hotel in Bulgaria last month. The hotel looks superb, and the rooms are superb. However, take a closer look at workmanship and you will be horrified at the way this place has been built. There was slippery marble around the pool, which quite frankly was just a joke, that is until your kids slip on it, once, twice...
Our maid was very friendly, and we made an effort with her every day and she looked after us.
The prices were quite expensive in the hotel, however it kept all the blaggers from the other hotels out, and created a nice quiet atmosphere with nice surroundings, including the staff!!
The pool was cold but nice. The resort is good, although it needs some developing to really compete with the major resorts in Europe. The people are a bit ignorant, but nicer when you see them a few times. There were too many people out to rip you off.
The main centre is a 30 minute walk but worth it. It is very lively. You've got to try the Mexican restaurant in the town (Memeritza I think). They had a superb guitar player every night (the only talented person in the resort by a long way) ... chilli guitars all the way! Drinks were cheap everywhere, but you will need to look around. At the M&M bar two hotels up ii was 1.5 Lev for a pint, and the hotel next door was the best place to change money (NOT AT THE KIOSKS ALONG THE BEACH FRONT).
There was music playing all night, however the rooms are pretty much sound proof. Believe me, we were on the 1st floor right close to the pool, and when we shut the door... nothing. I am not sure why people are moaning about the noise.
I recommend the resort, probably not the hotel though.

Have just returned from Victoria Palace (2nd July 2005). Was most impressed on arrival, at the standard of the hotel. The room was not the one we booked. Had to wait 2 days to be moved. The rooms are clean and practical, though not as luxurious as the hotel itself. It was impossible to get a sun bed, unless you are prepared to camp out at 7.00am. I wasn't. Using Victoria Palace's own beach beds, but I was horrified to discover I had to pay 36 levs for 4 beds and 2 umbrellas.
The food was acceptable, and there was something for everyone. Some staff were friendly, but most were standoffish. I did not really feel welcome as on previous holidays in Turkey, Greece and Spain. The lack of entertainment was a big problem, with 2 children to please. The resort was livelier further into the town, but quiet near Victoria Palace. Shoppers paradise! Take an empty suitcase! Will be going back next year, but to more family friendly hotel.
