written by NAZIR on 27/03/2006

I regretted changing my mobile phone to an LG 7100 because it really caused me a lot of problems i.e. bad network, the infrared is rubbish, and the charging port is another problem. My advice to everyone is to buy a different mobile phone.

Since the voice reception failed on my LG 7100 mobile phone, I changed to a Samsung instead, but I miss the front display.
On the other hand I have now got better software programming, and the phone is easier to use and more complete.
It was almost impossible to use the camera function on the LG, as the software was badly designed.
The camera is also bad quality, and it is easier to take pictures when the LCD display is facing the object you are photographing.

“I have had the LG 7100 mobile phone for about 4 months...”

written by s3xy89 on 07/09/2005

I have had the LG 7100 mobile phone for about 4 months now, and it served me well for about 2 months. My brother had the same phone as me before I got mine, and he had his replaced 5 times in one year! My phone started messing up after 2 months, with half the screen failing to function, it would just go fuzzy, and I would have to turn it off. Then when I flipped the screen round and down, the screen wouldn't function again, so I could no longer use my camera.
The infrared never worked, and the phone does not have Bluetooth. It is a very simple phone, but I would not recommend it at all! This phone is a ridiculous amount of hassle, and I have given up and gone back to my old phone, and have a new one on the way.
I would rather have an old Nokia 3210, than have this pathetic attempt of a phone.

“LG 7100 - Tis phone is absolute garbage!!!! ”

LG 7100 - Tis phone is absolute garbage!!!!
Had it since Nov. 2004 and it has been "repaired" 4 times. It is totally useless and a complete waste of money. How do mobile retail shops get away with selling such bodgey, defective products? They might make decent appliances and white goods, but perhaps LG should leave communications up to the experts? What were they thinking????

written by Tinkerbella on 27/10/2004

I bought the LG7100 in Dec 2003. It is very user-friendly and anyone who uses a Nokia will find this a very familiar set-up. Since then I have had it repaired three times and a new one as it switched itself off, cut off during calls, didn't always send messages (particularly with pictures). What you won't be told is that if this phone goes wrong, it has to be sent back to LG direct as the phone shops can't repair them so I was without mine for three months out of four. You cannot teach it words on predictive text so all of you who like to text will find it frustrating. The alarm is poor and the software you get with it doesn't work fully. The photo quality is poor and I hate this phone so much I am giving it away and am using my old Nokia which I adore!

I am not very impressed with this handset at all. I have had numerous replacements because of poor reception. You can not add words to the predictive texting. The quality of the pictures the phone takes are not amazing and do not even work in dim light. On a bright day, you can not even see who is calling you unless you open the case. The games aren't great either.

“I hadn't heard much about this LG 7100 mobile phone...”

★★★★☆

written by nickmdrinkwater on 11/04/2004

I hadn't heard much about this LG 7100 mobile phone when i bought it but thought I would go for something a bit different.

It's definitely one of the more stylish models on the market, the swivel screen being very cool for showing your mates. The outside screen looks like a mirror and overall the phone has an expensive look.

The screen is 65k and quite good quality, though is improved by meddling around with the contrast. The keypad is quite easy to handle and the UI is simple for anyone who has used Nokias or other makes before.

Most of the typical features of a phone at the price are here - polyphonic tones, camera (with light), outer colour screen, organiser and GPRS among others. However the phone lacks tri band and bluetooth which may deter business users or those who travel.

The phone is light enough and fairly well built. The flip doesn't feel as solid as some phones, but this is caused by the rotating screen.

Voice quality is fine without being outstanding. Memory is shared between messages, photos and applications, the total memory is about 900k. Luckily the phone comes with a calbe and CD to transfer your photos to PC. 100 messages can be stored in inbox and outbox. The phone can handle MIDI sounds as ringtones. Memory is acceptable, but perhaps a bit more is needed if you want to store more than about twenty pictures.

A downside is that you can't add words to the T9 dictionary when composing an SMS, although you can when adding an item to the organiser. It is a little annoying but you soon learn which words you need to type manually and the keypad itself is quite comfortable.

If you're into gaming, then you'll be happy to hear there are 3 games included, as well as an additonal ten on CD which can be added.

Taking photos is a little different from most handsets. The camera is located on the side of the hinge for the flip, so you have to open the phone and rotate the screen about 90 degrees as well the flip. The quality of the camera is quite good, with three quality settings. You can also change the size and there is a flash, although I haven't found it that useful.

Battery life is fine, though expect it to drain if you regularly use the camera or play games. It's no worse than rival phones.

But overall, if you have about £200 to spend on PAYG or want a reasonably priced contract phone, this is a good choice. It stands out from the crowd more than a Samsung or Nokia, probably because it's only available on Orange. Admittedly it lacks the features of some models in this bracket, but what it lacks in function it makes up for in form.
