Excellent phone, excellent battery life, good functional phone which is easy to use and really good Bluetooth function, but poor camera and similar to all nokias. I have stuck with nokias throughout my mobile career and sure hope the new range are a bit different or may see myself switching to another manufacturer

I cant believe it, I just called Nokia tech support and it's true the 6230 can only play one song from the multi media card and then it stops until you select the next song and press play again. Is this the most stupid MP3 player ever or what?

You have to use the playlist feature to make a .m3p playlist. Then you can play an album in one go. Unfortunately you can only have one playlist per song as far as I can tell, as it downloads the playlist and songs to the card, so if you want a song on multiple playlists you have to store it for each list.

I really wanted to like this phone more, but compared to its direct SE rival the K700i it just can't cut it.
The main problem is the screen. It's much smaller and much lower resolution than the K700i screen, which is one of the best on any phone.
The camera is good in low light conditions, but the K700i's is better in day light.
The Styling of this Nokia is ok, it's just plain classic (boring!?) Nokia. At least its been saved from the treatment some of the other recent Nokias have had to suffer!
Over all its not bad, but the screen is a BIG problem. Its just not good enough by a long way.

You are not right, the machines which you compared was separated in their category. You must compare the K700i and the 7610.
<br>The 6230 compares with the T630 or the T650.

I agree, the Nokia 7250i is the SE T610/T630's rival where as the 6230 is comparable to the likes of the SE K700i and the Samsung SGH-D500. The SGH-D500 being the better of the five. :p

No the 7610 is a more expensive symbian series 60 phone its not equivalent to a K700i. Both the K700i and the 6230 are the same price, with the same basic features and aimed at the same market. The T610/630 are lower end phones, they don't support MP3 and have much less memory.

The Nokia 6230 phone is very good and I love it having both the MP3 player and radio. One problem I have found (with this handset and a previous one) is that while listening to the MP3 player the phone turns itself off and on. Very annoying. Also when I have finished using the Bluetooth connection and I go to turn it off, the phone freezes for while, turns itself off and on and then I can finally turn it off. Has anyone else had these things problems? If so are they easily fixable.
One other thing, the phone is pretty damn ugly. Nokia may have all the bells and whistles but it's about time they did something about the way their phones looked.

I really wanted to like the 6230, and, despite what follows, I pretty much do.
Firstly, I notice other reviewers praising the screen and the camera. Neither are that great in my opinion - I had a Sharp GX30 for 1 week before I got the 6230, but couldn't get on with a flip phone so gave it to my girlfriend. THAT has a screen and camera that makes the 6230 laughable, but hey, these remain gimmicks. Also, when you take a photo and send it to another phone, it gets further and massively compressed(?) and is far too grainy the other end and near pointless bothering.
The battery life is, as many say, blooming awful (as is the GX30 for that matter). I've come from a 3410, and she from a 6310, so I am wondering whether it is the larger, colour screens that cause this (?). Neither of us are heavy camera users.
Have installed the Nokia software, plus the DKU-20 cable drivers (first), but hardly anything functions (I have a new computer running XP Home)
Can download applications, but any other transferring/editing won't happen. Therefore tried the MMC card in the reader on the computer, which worked first couple of times, but now won't (or on an external reader on my other computer). So now I'm totally unable to transfer anything from the phone. Tried reformatting etc but no joy.
I read on tech forums that I'm not alone, but will persevere in trying to solve some of the glitches - I cannot absolutely guarantee that I'm not being a bit dumb somewhere, or will wait for firmware updates.
I have put 'recommended' because I still like the basic functionality of the phone - for me it's really for business, and I especially like the speakerphone capability but my recommendation depends on user requirements and expectations.
Still awake.........?

Duuuh - have just found out that the reason I have trouble reading the card is because I have password protected it. Rather stupidly in, my opinion, the password doesn't protect the card in the phone, but in external readers. Dumbest of all by far though, is the fact that I set the password when playing with the phone on a few pints, and can't remember the bloomin' password so can't delete it. Cool eh?.....not.

At first I thought the Nokia 6230 was a good buy since the price was going down in my country due to arrival of the 7610. I thought the battery life would be around 4 days since my old 6610 lasted that long. The battery life of my 6230 barely lasted 2 days on light SMS usage and few photos taken which were deleted at once (test shots). It could be that it was the first charge of my unit after the initial draining of a partially-charged battery. Nice phone book memory which could handle my every need. Group sending was a main reason I got this phone. (previous phone was a Panasonic GD-88 which also had this feature). Small screen was a disappointment as well as the blurry photos it takes.

if you can't play the song's continuously, try this steps: if your song files on your memory card is located in a folder try moving it outside the folder, now access the music player, the system should recognize all the music stored in the mmc, you can now enjoy music continously all day long as i am enjoying mine with my 6230
