been with alliance and leicester for 27 years never had no problems with them at all reccomended my son and we both got £50 within a few weeks of my son opening account customer services always been helpfull and phoned me back within 48 hours. recently had a company get money back from alliance leicester for charges on credit card and must say this was paid with in 3 weeks from alliance and leicester 2 other companies took months to do this very hyappy with alliance and leicster got no intention of moving banks internet banking never had a problem they have always warned of maintance before hand

Excellent-moved my current account to Alliance And Leicester Internet Banking to get the £100 transfer incentive and its been paid within 2 months! also the whole transfer was very smooth with no glitches for either the direct debit or the standing orders

I find Alliance And Leicester Internet Banking is fast reliable and basically does what it says. And no long passwords to remenber
I have very limited experiance with the telephone side but when i lost my cards they were excellant .
As someone who gets overdrawn I love (ok id rather it be free)the 50 pence a day fee to maximum £5 I find this transparent and easy to understand ..unlike my previous bank where i could get a £25 bill for been overdrawn 50 pence for a day! I found moving account the £100 cash back and twelve month free overdraft well worth the time taken to move accounts ..about ten mins on line. So far no bad points .... actually not having sort code on visa debit card i have to find the cheque book (im not the most organised person so this can be time consuming!) or look it up on line when setting up direct debits

I have been with this bank since it was run by the post office donkeys years ago and never had any trouble at all. Money is transferred instantly and staff helpful,at least in my branch. I would certainly recommend.

Alliance & Leicester Internet Banking does not seem to have allowed for problems caused by the change to their internet security. When contacted by phone, which takes ages, nobody can answer your questions. All they have told me is that the problem is not my fault, they are working to correct it, but they have no idea how long that will take. Hardly a satisfactory situation.

I've been with A&L for just under a year, after moving my account from a bank I used to work for. I first changed my personal loan, and was so impressed with the service (the paperwork arrived the next day - usually mail to Northern Ireland takes a few days), I asked about bank accounts too.
The account suits me - I don't really keep money in my current account save what I'm paying out in bills, so current account interest never worries me. It was the travel insurance that sucked me in, and I'm glad it did.
I transferred my standing orders, bill payments and direct debits myself, due to my circumstances at the time, but the staff were helpful when I called to check on progress.
I find the internet banking service easy to use and self explanatory, and have never had a problem with it. I did find the identifier number a pain to begin with, but once I learned the number it was not so bad.
A&L also balance your account at the end of each day, which is helpful. There was a worrying moment a few months ago when I was between jobs, and a direct debit came out in the morning before I paid money in, however I wasn't charged for it, as the transactions were on the same day. At my old bank they charged £30 for non-payment, £28 for going overdrawn and there's no hope of getting the charges refunded (I should know, I was one of the many not refunding charges!).
I've reccommended A&L to my family and friends because of their excellent service. I have always found them to be efficient, effective and courteous and have never had cause to complain.
